​I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding my recent stay at Mercure Oostende. ​I fully understand that one cannot expect significant perks or upgrades at budget brands like Ibis. However, when staying at midscale and premium brands such as Mercure, Novotel, or Mövenpick, basic program standards and genuine hospitality should be the norm. ​Upon arrival, I was denied a complimentary room upgrade as an Accor Gold member. The front desk simply dismissed the request, claiming upgrades are solely at the hotel's discretion and that the property was fully booked. However, I immediately checked the official Accor app, and higher-tier rooms were clearly available for open booking. ​Instead, it felt as though I was deliberately assigned the worst room in the hotel: an extremely tiny space tucked into the furthest corner on the highest floor. The bathroom was just as cramped and had a persistent, foul odor. To make the room somewhat tolerable, I had to keep the windows and doors open throughout the evening just to air it out. ​The night was completely ruined. Even though the air conditioner was turned off, it continuously made loud gurgling sounds all night, as if water was constantly trickling through the unit. Because of this noise, I got almost no sleep. ​On top of that, there was no welcome gift, no personalized greeting card, and zero acknowledgment of my loyalty status throughout the stay. ​I hold high-tier elite statuses with multiple major hotel loyalty programs, but I rarely encounter such a dismissive approach and poor room conditions. Accor has been a priority for me, and I have been actively concentrating my stays across your properties to achieve Platinum or Diamond status by the end of the year. ​However, paying €160 per night for a sleepless night in an uncomfortable, noisy room with zero recognition makes me seriously question this choice. Given this experience, what reason are you giving me to stay loyal and continue booking Accor properties when other major chains value their guests far more consistently? ​I am thoroughly disappointed with this stay and expect management to address these issues and provide a proper resolution. ​Best regards, Petr N.

The price of the room 264 should be cheaper because of the very small bathroom ! No place enough to store our toiletry things and your high must not exceed more than 1,60 or you'll knock your head in the wall, front of you, when using she toilet !

Good location, rude staff during the evening of one of the nights we stayed (we were for 2 nights), sink was dripping water - they tried fixing soon after our check-in, still was not fixed -, smell of mold in the hotel. Price was rather high per night for a single room.

Booking online was easy, didn't book breakfast but wish we did as not many places open early for food. Belcony was good size and had sun in the afternoon. Complementary drinks in the room were nice after the journey.

Unfortunately, our stay was less than stellar, and much less than we expected from a Mercure property. Although the staff were kind and welcoming, the room was another story. When we walked in, it reeked of cigarette smoke, something that anyone who checked the room should have clocked, and worse, it appeared the previous guest had put a shower cap over the smoke detector (which hadn’t been removed upon our check in). Beyond this oversight, there was mould in the shower, stains on the window casing, and the bedsheets and pillowcases were stained and torn. Then during our stay, there was a loud knocking noise whenever someone would shower along our column of pipes and this would also cause the shower head to leak, and the walls were so thin we could easily hear the regular-volume conversations of our neighbours. And finally, the towels provided were incredibly small, thin and worn, more like those expected in a pension or lower rated hotel. When we booked this hotel, we expected a comfortable long weekend seaside getaway, but in the end we did not enjoy quality sleep or amenities at this hotel.

Easy access well located, however pavement in front of hotel needs fixing. Room was not ready when we arrived, not a problem they stored our luggage. Room 161 as per description and clean, issue with the toilet the small flush not working seen that the hotel advertises it's green measurement these should be fixed, better maintained. The hairdryer is one of the older models attached to the wall and not very performing. Overall the stay went well. Issues faced: TV wasn't working at all during the game France Spain which is a major setback and the receptionist couldn't offer a solution, we were several experiencing the issue... No apologies either, disappointing for a 4 star. One evening we were ready to get some food at the hotel, answer from the receptionist I can get you only pizza as the microwave where we heat up the rest is broken.... It should be stated that there's no chef and also on the website don't list the entire menu if it's not available...

We stayed one night,and where kept awake most off the night by workmen ,working in the room next door,banging/talking/coughing etc this was made worse by the fact we had our little dog with us ,who kept barking at the noise.In the morning we spoke to Martin on Reception who was extremely unhelpful and even aggressive about us being disbursed by the workmen,said there was nothing he could do about it!he had checked us in the day before and never mentioned that renovation where being done in the next door room.We have stayed in Mercure hotels many times,and never had a bad experience before.But I doubt if we will stay again

Staff was very nice, breakfast was good. However the building needs Renovating : we could hear the neighbors talking, people taking showers and drying their hair. The air conditioning wasn’t great : either we were super cold or way too warm with it. We usually like Mercure but were disappointed by the facilities this time.
