Comfort and convenience at Novotel South Bank

We travelled to Brisbane to attend a conference at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre in South Bank, for which the Novotel is ideally situated, three minutes walk away. The hotel staff were welcoming and informative, and the corner suite we occupied truly excellent. Importantly, the bathroom was well designed, safe, clean and fully equipped. Room lighting was far better than in many quality hotels, and switches intelligently placed. The mattress was a little softer than we prefer but the pillows were excellent. External noise was minimal, while the well-fitted door provided effective reduction of internal noise. Room cleaning staff were efficient and flexible with service times as we required. Breakfast offered a wide range of options, including some dishes available on demand. Our only disappointment was dinner at the in-house restaurant, where we found only a few dishes that appealed to our taste. Of course, others might have a wider spectrum of food preferences. Apart from the conference centre and the delights if South Bank, it is a short walk across the bridge to the CBD. There is no doubt that we will choose the Novotel South Bank on future visits.

Uncomfortable bed, patchy service , poor internet

Stayed here for a business conference held at the convention Centre. Conveniently it was only a 5 minute walk. However I found the bed very uncomfortable and the check in process not as customer friendly as many other hotels we stay. The layout and flow of the ground floor is not welcoming or convenient The internet is intermittent

Good value stay

I stayed herel for a week,, as it is extremely near to the convention center - just across the road! As I had mentioned before in other entries, the longer you stay at a place the more faults you discover. Don’t get me wrong - there’s good things to say too: nice gym (a bit small but functional), friendly service, near city central (walk to Victoria bridge) and performing arts centre/museums. What grated me was the inconsistent housekeeping especially refilling of amenities (like shower caps) and tea bags (refilled only ONCE in my entire seven days’ stay). The bed and floor are otherwise maintained well. The worst deficiency, however, is the lack of slippers. They didn’t have a bathrobe either, but i can live with that. SLIPPPERS? The floor is carpeted (till the bathroom) and I’d imagine guests and housekeepers tramping all over the carpet. Even if you vacuum the carpet diligently, there will be things that are not cleared - maybe that’s how some people develop athletes feet?! Paper slipppers is really cheap, why can’t the hotel just provide them? Of all my trips, this is the only one which I didn’t bring my disposable slippers and i have to walk around the room for an entire week…. Gosh! One more thing: if you are short or with dexterity issues, you may experience a challenge trying to do a wash after using the toilet - the hose is not long enough.

Terrible housekeeping

Reasons why we would never stay here again: broken glass on the carpet in our room, blood on the bathroom door and door jamb, cleaner coming into our room with out knocking an hour and a half before checkout time to ask when we were leaving; my husband was in his underwear! At the prices they charge the low standard was surprising.

Das Zimmer im Novotel war sauber, grosszügig und modern. Das Hotel ist an einer guten Lage und man ist schnell am Wasser und bei zahlreichen Restaurants. Schade war jedoch, dass unsere mehrere Tage vor der Anreise gestellte Anfrage bezüglich Restaurantempfehlungen zweimal unbeantwortet blieb. Dies obwohl dann im Hotelzimmer via QR-Code ebensolche Empfehlungen abgerufen werden konnten (leider zu spät für eine Reservation).
