Great hotel with lovely views of river mersey

Carolyn J Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

Great 1 night stay with my friend. Lovely hotel, very clean throughout. We got a room with a lovely river view, well equipped rooms. Parking offsite, chargeable but as you would expect in a city centre. We had a problem with our booking on arrival but the staff member went above and beyond, so helpful and sorted efficiently. Excellent breakfast in a room with great views of the River Mersey

Excellent view ( which I paid extra for) comfy bed/ nice pillows but unfortunately there was more bad then good. Breakfast was not good, hash browns were cold, you had to ask if you wanted fried egg / mushrooms, we asked for these and when they was brought out the mushrooms were FREEZING cold which was very worrying considering they had just been brought out of the kitchen. Walls in the room areliterally paper thin, I could hear next doors conversation. Rooms are a little bit on the small side, especially the bathroom, you have to walk in and then once you're in,shut the door behind you. Shower was good, however if the shower was on too dlfast, it would start to overflow out of the shower tray.

You'll have a more enjoyable time elsewhere

DayTrip35226878467 Couples - TripAdvisor review

We booked two nights for the eras tour. The climate control in our room didn't work and we raised the issue over the WhatsApp (which we were told to use if there was a problem or question) which was acknowledged but never fixed during our stay. This meant the room was very hot and stuffy for the entirety of our stay making it very difficult to get ready for what was, for us, a very expensive event that we were obviously very excited for. In anticipation of a late night we'd be getting we also booked a late checkout option upon booking online. This cost £40 and was stated to be 'up to 6pm' but at reception we double checked our check out time and we were told the latest check out possible was 1pm. Meaning we paid £60 for an extra two hours stay. Either the receptionist got it wrong in which case we were severely overcharged or your advertising is very misleading. Not great whichever way it is. The walls were also thin enough for us to be woken by the alarms of people in other rooms. All this combined to make a very very disappointing and uncomfortable stay. Before I stay I also emailed with questions but was never contacted back. Unforgettable, for all the wrong reasons. Would advise against anyone staying here if they want a good experience in the city. The one redeeming quality is the location which is great, but there are plenty of other options a stones throw away that you should definitely consider instead.
