The hotels location for the races is perfect. Ample parking. The hotel was clean, tidy and well organised. The room was clean, tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable. The most important aspect is that ALL the staff were happy, polite and very helpful. This is very rare nowadays. Please congratulate your staff on a job well done!!!!

We have just had our Xmas party here and everything was great. Friendly staff, lovely food, lots of space. As a collective, our only negative comment is the music. During the meal we had the Xmas songs playing, but considering it was a Christmas party, the do opted to not play a single Christmas song except for the very last one, which really doesn’t match with the whole theme of the evening. It did create widespread disappointment. We sincerely hope that this will be revisited for next year in the all inclusive package as that would be the solo reason for us not to book again. Everything else was spot on, we can’t knock it. So clean and tidy too.

We chose to book the Mercure Haydock primarily because it had a swimming pool. With most major hotel chains, pool access is typically included in the room rate, so I was surprised and disappointed to find that Mercure Haydock charges £10 per visit. This wasn’t communicated beforehand, so I showed up with my swimwear only to be told I couldn’t use the pool without paying the additional fee. For a hotel charging £130 per night, this felt excessive. Had we known, we would have opted to stay at the nearby Holiday Inn instead. Unfortunately, the worst part of my stay was the lack of heating in my room. The heating system was clearly broken, and on one of the coldest nights of the year, I had a terrible night’s sleep. I raised the issue with reception the next morning, and they promised to place a heater in the room while I was out working on site. When I returned, there was a heater, but it was faulty and only blew cold air. It was also far too small to heat the large room. After another trip to reception, I was provided with a second heater, but it was similarly inadequate. This led to a second night of broken sleep. I’ve stayed at Mercure hotels before and usually found them to be fine, but this visit was hugely disappointing. Beyond the heating issue and unexpected pool charges, the overall poor maintenance of the hotel, the overpriced menu, and the poor quality of the food made this one of the most disappointing stays I’ve had in years.

Stayed over for 1 night for my partners birthday. Nice hotel, staff were friendly. Made it special by decorating the room while we were out at dinner.... would definately return. Only thing I would say, room was abit cold. Beautifully kept hotel.
