We have just had the best weekend staying at the Mercure Haydock Hotel. We went as a group booking with Bakers Dolphin coaches from Somerset. There were 42 people in our party visiting the Tatton Garden Show and RHS Bridgwater (both wonderful). On arrival the receptionists had check in down to a fine art, we all had rooms allocated within 10 mins of arrival. Great preparation (Marta had the perfect customer service). My friend and I wanted to swim, again Marta took the time to show where and how to access the pool. Dinner was sheduled for 7pm, again the dinning room staff were well prepared and the three course meal went like clockwork for 42 people! The meal was lovely. The bar and dinning room staff had excellent customer service too, thank you to Abi, Katie, Andy, Lucy Emily, and again Marta for making our stay so welcoming, we will return next year! from Colleen and Carol ( this was the feeling of all 42 people in our group). Not to mention they also had a wedding party to cope with at the same time. Great work to all staff!

Fantastic hotel, clean, comfy and spacious. Lovely facilities and great service on the whole. The one down-side was at breakfast on the Sunday morning which was served until 11. The food was hot and tasty but the staff appeared pit-out that we turned up at 10.30 and others after us about 10.45. They were checking their watches and muttering to each other, clearly bothered by having to deal with people one run up to 11am. One female member of staff (who I’m not naming her but who’s name I know if it’s needed) kept coming clearing plates away from our table while members of our party will still eating - bad etiquette and impolite!

I booked this hotel through booking.com on a Saturday as we had booked tickets for the races after we seen they had availability. We arrived at the hotel and were told they were fully booked and had been for a couple of weeks. They were not very helpful at reception nor apologetic! I showed them my phone and said it’s still showing as availability right now so don’t you think you need to sort this out! To top it off I received a £100 parking fine from them a week later and when I emailed them about this it was finally cancelled but again no apology for all the stress this had caused.

We stayed one night at this hotel as we were going to the race course the next day. The hotel was very nice as were all the staff but I would particularly like to thank the bar staff and Michelle the Hotel Receptionist who was absolutely lovely and so efficient at her job. Good location for Haydock races but tired hotel.

Room 227 was very tired. Seats in lounge and conservatory were all grubby and warn out. On Friday night we tried the draft Stella and Guinness and neither were cold enough. Bar food was very nice and quick service. Reception on arrival and departure not overly friendly.
