Probably the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Not sure where to start. Rooms are dirty, noisy and hot, street noise kept me up all night. Girl checking us in was lovely but clearly trying to run reception bar and restaurant by herself. Menu was poor, ordered the tomato and basil soup for £5.50 and was served half a tin of Heinz tomato soup. Ordered nachos and was told there wasn’t any guac or salsa so a bowl of dry crisps. Asked for the chilli to be told 10 mins later they had run out to then be served a microwave Thai green curry.

As a Reception Manager of a large Hotel myself I must commend the Reception staff for their friendly welcome and attentiveness toward myself and my daughter. They recommended a lovely restaurant which we enjoyed immensely. They are a credit to your hotel. We had an executive room which was well laid out as 2 bedrooms, the bathroom was large and very well stocked with everything you would need. ie shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and hand moisturiser (smelt lovely) sowing kit, razor, shoe shine. Dressing gowns in the wardrobe, safe, iron and board. What more could you ask for. There was a fridge in the room which came in handy during our stay. The hotel was warm and very clean. Could not find anything that we were not happy with. We look forward to staying again when we are next up north visiting family. Very impressed Nicci

The front desk staff were very helpful the room was clean but the bed was not comfortable.

Whilst the welcome by staff was encouraging there were no other positives to report. The building was in a sorry state, with much wear and tear to soft furnishings. There were plaster cracks throughout the hotel and in my room. The bathroom door and been subjected to damage likened to a fist punch in the middle of it. In general there was a sense of uncleanliness throughout the hotel with carpeting worn. The breakfast was limited, poorly cooked and cold.

Very noisy rooms. Not the cleanness expected from a 4* mercure hotel. But most of the staff were friendly and service minded. Warm room (which I found nice always being cold). But it was overall OK. No fresh air except for 1 window that I couldn't fully open but opened up to a very dirty inside area (between walls/2 buildings).
