Opposite to Sovereign Hill and close to the CBD, Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre is where comfort and convenience meet with style.

Poor service, disappointing experience. Was staying at the Hotel as part of a large group which had been arranged well in advance. The poor experience started with check-in where we had to wait approx 45 minutes to check in due to lack of staff preparation for the group. The catered meal was disappointing, undercooked and salty gnocci, dry chicken. The breakfast buffet ran out of food. The hotel was not prepared to host a large group with defined timelines for arriving and departing.

Very poorly organised staff-checking in,2 people trying to serving 140 people pre dinner drinks. Poor quality food.Wanting to close the bar an hour earlier than agreed to.Confusion with booking in and price discrepancies.

IWehad a great night stay great sleep great meal advise the staff prior to our arrival. It was our anniversary and requested a bottle of champagne. When we arrived. The champagne was on ice and they had organised some flowers on the table which was greatly appreciated and unexpected. my own criticism is that when it came to settling the accounts be it at the bar or Reception the experience was very transactional and felt unvalued.

We were there with a big group on a fundraising car rally. The organisers had tried to plan ahead but obviously ignored. Check in was chaos causing a massive traffic jam out front. Bar and check in desk was inadequately staffed. Food at dinner was ordinary to put it kindly Wine selection poor. Rooms were adequate but tired, the shower taps were leaking and one tap handle turned on spindle making it difficult to adjust water flow. Beds were good. We booked with another couple but our rooms were far apart in another block.
