The TV (room 709) only had Freeview and some sky channels. There was no way to either cast to TV or to log-in to my streaming apps. Also one of the beds was on caster wheels. Each time you knocked into it it flew across the room. The wheels need locks or removing. There is also loud noises from things blowing across the roof in the Wellington winds. I did love having a shower door rather than a disgusting shower curtain. I won't bother getting the breakfast next time. As the cooked breakfast was also a bit disappointing. While the range of options was great the quality of the ingredients and the cooking was a let down. Next time I would choose to have breakfast in the amazing Hanger cafe across the road. All that said given we paid $175 for a family of 4 for B&B it was a great value option.

We chose the Mercure for the generally positive reviews however were a bit surprised with a few things. For starters, we requested a sunlit room when booking directly from the hotel, and although it couldn't be confirmed, when we lodged in and found out that the room is extremely hot with little to no air circulation, we requested to change to another if available. The front desk staff was kind enough to change the room for us to one with an AC. It was disheartening that that room already was available but was not offered. Another thing that happened is that the cleaning staff did not take out the trash after 2 visits which wasn't very pleasant of an experience. Additionally, we had received one suer dirty towel that had black stains on it, so bad it cannot be cleaned and should be thrown away really. Finally, on one very windy, rainy, and cold night we discovered that the AC doesn't warm the room at 30 degrees as it still blew cold air and the heater turned on but did not work at all. For such a highly reviewed hotel, we expected the basics really. Unfortunately, we will not be considering the mercure on our next visit nor recommend it to our peers.

Lovely comfortable bed, but were surprised that there was no flat service to put anything on, no cabinet area in the bathroom, and only one chair when there were two of us, so one person had to sprawl on the bed to sit down. Excellent service with clean towels and sheets every day. Very nice personnel in the reception area, who were very accomodating. Nice quiet lifts which you didn,t have to wait long for. Great location close to shopping area and supermarket
