Very good stay , staff all very welcoming and service quick even with COVID restrictions. Large well appointed room comfortable bed, the safe needs moving too low almost on the floor. Restaurant staff all so friendly and the food was very good, hot and well prepared.

Booked two rooms on a Secret Escapes deal, including breakfast and three course dinner plus a bottle of Prosecco in our rooms. The evening meal was particularly good with plenty of choice. Rooms nice and comfortable. The hotel had lots of things in place to keep guests safe during their stay. We would definitely visit this hotel again.

Changed room 3times on arrival first room to noise 2nd safe didn't work 3rd bigger but toilet wasn't clean ask for someone to clean but went to add a and bought bleech to clean ourselves. Breakfast ok but plates need warming and food could be hotter restaurant on night much better except for a large black hair in my starter on last night

Please rest assured I will be discussing your comments with the team as lapses such as the safe not working and a dirty toilet are not what I expect from our housekeeping team and is not the level of service we pride ourselves on. I trust Rebecca rectified the issue with the hair and has investigated as I don't think anyone in the kitchen has long dark hair but I will follow this up with her when she is back on shift in a couple of days. Friendly welcome and my wishes to be away from road noise politely accommodated. Unfortunately the TV screen had a full handprint mark which makes the ALLSAFE promise slightly questionable. Not taken seriously by hotel on checkout or in follow up. Very disappointing.

Good Morning Mrs B., Thank you for contacting us regarding your stay please accept my sincere apologies for the hand print that was on your TV, I am disappointed that this was the case as we have put a lot of additional effort into our cleaning protocols and have received largely positive feedback on the various measure we have put in place since re-opening. We strive to exceed every guest’s expectations and personally I appreciate knowing where we have fallen short so we can continue to improve. I will follow up to check what corrective action has been put in place with the staff member / department concerned to ensure the oversight does not happen in the future. As I said previously, please accept my apologies for the issue you experienced and I hope that if you are in the area in the future you will give us the opportunity to show you this lapse was not our normal standard. We booked a privilege room as a special treat expecting paying a bit extra for a nicer stay. How disappointed we were. As soon as we entered our room it was noticeable that the floor had not been hoovered, totally unacceptable at anytime let alone in this current climate, leading us to wonder how much of a clean the room had been given at all let alone meet your own standards .(https://all.accor.com/event/all_safe.en.shtml).There was not any comfortable chairs to sit in and the bathrobes(sorry,i should say bathrobe as only 1 robe and slippers were in the room) were of poor quality(we have better quality flannels)the toiletries provided were exactly the same as your normal hotel rooms (we have stayed in a few).the website description is " complimentary paper and enhanced toiletries, slippers and bathrobes." I was never offered a paper either. I appreciate we are in strange times and you are not servicing rooms daily but we constantly had to ask for new towels, coffee pods etc even though we were told they would be readily available. We were putting dirty towels outside surely there could be something in place to replenish even if it was only by the door. The hotel was not that busy so I don't know what you are paying your housekeeping staff to do. Onto the dining room. I cannot understand how a 4 star hotel in a company your size cannot purchase a toaster .To offer a breakfast service without toast is a joke. It can be easily cleaned and, as the breakfast service was not that busy, easily manageable. The croissants were so tiny you had to have three for every one you would normally have and three to replace toast. Scrambled eggs on toast isn't the same without the toast. The plusses. The staff members we did interact with were very helpful and friendly especially Alex at breakfast service who is an asset to you. The receptionist who sorted out our bill at departure (I'm sorry i didnt get here name, we checked out about 9.45 Wednesday 14/10) and thank you for a birthday treat which your team supplied. I know everything is difficult at the moment but i think on this occasion i feel you could have done a lot better and it will make me think twice about using Mercure hotels again Andrew D.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; and I apologise that on this occasion we have fallen short. Please rest assured the when these shortcomings were discussed with Beata on check-out she immediately investigated with those concerned as she is our Rooms Division Manager and was as disappointed as myself to hear such lapses had occurred. As you say some of the points are to do with revisions we have had to make due to current government and brand recommendations which we are constantly reviewing as we endeavor to provide the best service under these trying circumstances. Unfortunately some things which seem easy to solve, such as toast, are not as simple as they appear. We have a toaster, however guests are no longer permitted to use it which combined with the removal of buffets is causing us to change the way we serve breakfast. Although it may have been quiet at the times you dined if we were to offer toast to everyone it would actually mean having an additional member of staff on breakfast which under the current financial pressures is something we simply can't afford at the moment I'm afraid. Please rest assured I will also forwarded you comments to Accor centrally so the can be considered in the future as some of the points you mention such as the quality of the robes and slippers are brand standards which we are unable to change ourselves. Despite all the Covid regulations etc the service and attitude of the staff was very good. They were friendly and courteous. The room and public areas were very clean as one would expect for a new hotel in the current circumstances. The one odd thing was a rumble and vibration every now and again when heavy vehicles went along the road by the hotel.

We stayed for one night on the secret escapes deal and it was excellent value. The hotel, staff and evening meal were all excellent. The only disappointing thing was the breakfast. I understand how difficult everything is at the moment but felt a bit disappointed at the quality of the breakfast especially after having such an excellent meal the evening before.

Car park being other side of a main road only problem, Easy check in/out, request for real milk for tea accommodated, Thankyou, Difficult times but staff coping well. Thank you. We had stayed for the night on our way to Cornwall for our anniversary weekend away & booked in reception for this stay on our way home to break the drive up. Very good service& likely to do the same again in future years.

The hotel had right amount of COVID restrictions, so we felt comfortable with the experience. Staff had perfect timing in the restaurant, and attentativeness. The only negative was there was some slight reverberation in the room, whenever large vehicles went past in the road outside our room, otherwise, very good overall.
