Weekend stay for a wedding and the location was spot on. Very nice modern place and our room was just right for what we needed and was clean and nicely set out. Amazing rainforest shower! Very friendly and helpful staff at reception helping with check in and sorting out parking requirements. We didn’t eat at the hotel, we found breakfast in the town, as the extra £60 for breakfast over the stay wasn’t in our budget (maybe next time!) Overall a great hotel, good location and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel itself is what it says on the tin.... its a Mercure! Clean enough, tidy enough, rooms a little dated but would not complain. What was a huge disappointment was the restaurant.... Marco Pier who?? If this is his standards he should shut shop and pack it in. We had a package deal, bed breakfast & evening meal. In the package meal stated up to £29.00 p/p allowance, fair enough. When we arrived at restaurant, we were given a sep' menu which was not expected, but we chose meals. I upgraded a rump steak to Sirloin for £6....... yes £6 extra for a sirloin but that's what i fancied. The Steak was horrendous.... probably the worst ive ever had.... a puny piece of meat measuring approx 100mm by 40mm (and that was supposed to be 8oz) but was tough as an old boot and full of gristle. To brag of being an "upmarket" restaurant is a joke.... 3 persons behind the kitchen, on full view, not one wearing any hair protection or hat... absolutely no regard for Food Safety or good practice. I complained (out of character for me) as i was upset on th efirst night of our stay. Ok sir, understand, we will waiver the service charge!!!!!!! Even if the food was tip top how dare they presume an automatic service charge I would never go to or recommend a Marc Pierre White again... absolute not a clue. Ill be in no rush to go back to this hotel or to Bridgewater for that matter..... not enought there, no decent restaurants that we could find full stop Itll be a different part of the country and a different hotel chain next time In direct contrast, the breakfast was good

2 people on reception to greet us. Neither able to concentrate on us whenever anyone else walked past. Lifts not working so had 3 floors to contend with. Not ideal with my ataxia .would not stay in mercury bridgewater again.
