Lets start with parking. If you stay in this hotel and park your car in the hotel car park you will be charged, for my visit this was £17 per night. The hotel website is very vague about this. I questioned this at check-in and was told it was on the website but the receptionist would not show me where basically telling me to pay or leave. Second the Bar. We returned to the hotel after seeing a show at around 10pm and the bar was closed, we asked at reception (same lady) and was told we could not get anything as room service was closed, previous comments have mentioned this and the reply said we should have been able to get a drink but no sure how. No help or advise given from staff as to where we could go. We went out and found a very pleasant bar just down the road. Next, the Television in the room was possible the smallest i have seen in a hotel, let along a 4 star, for a very long time. Along with that we had various wires hanging out from the TV and surroundings. The Bed was very comfortable unfortunately it was on casters so when we sat in the Bed to try and watch the small TV the bed rolled away from the wall. Generally the service from the staff was poor, being indiferent verging on rude, and definitely not what i would expect from a four star hotel and not what i have had before at other Mecure hotels. Our room looked tired and needing some attention. Hotel looked nearly empty so quite stunned at the lack of attention we recevied from staff. Would i stay at this hotel again, no never.

Reasonable Stay

Room 139 needs a refurb and the bath replace with a walk in shower. The water was not hot and had low pressure. As a Gold member i was expecting the fridge to be restocked the following day, as usually done in this hotel and others.

This hotel is well placed for Bristol's growing cargo retail & hospitality offer in & around Wapping Wharf. We enjoyed craft beers & a wide choice of international food styles, of which the 7 Lucky Gods Japanese restaurant was outstanding. The hotel was almost fully functional, albeit the bar closed before 10pm on all three nights; the breakfast buffet was fine, even for the late arrivals; the swimming pool was closed, apparently for maintenance; car parking was easy, at the rear of the premises, but at £17 per 24 hours alternative car parks are attractive! All in all, for Covid times a much enjoyed getaway.

Three night long weekend stay enabled us to enjoy a wide array of ethnic food, some superb craft beers, two live music acts in ambience-full pubs, a sought-after cultural-circuit film, three museum exhibitions, as well as spending a whole day with longstanding but not-often-seen (Covid-hurdled) friends.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean and neat and we were able to walk to explore Bristol on foot easily. They use a Whatsapp number to contact reception which didn't seem to work for us but the staff were friendly and helpful for the duration of our stay. Breakfast was good and value for money.

This is the second stay for me at the Mercure Bristol Holland House. The overwhelming positive point about this hotel is the attitude of all of the staff who were all very friendly, polite and professional. The Hotel was very clean and generally well maintained however, it is very dated and there are areas of the hotel which are showing significant signs of wear and tear such as the carpets in the hall ways and large gauges in the corridor walls where trolleys have banged into the walls. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The heating was both noisy and not adequate to keep the room warm, especially as it switches off when you leave the room. For some reason the shower door had been removed and also the toilet flush was somewhat difficult to use. The hotel is OK, I have definitely stayed in worse and the rates available do offer good value for money meaning that I will probably stay there again.

The pool was out of order (due to a heating fault) during our stay but did not get any prior notice e.g. email and I was looking forward to a daily swim. No recompense offered

I did book this place for two nights as a family short break before Christmas to and discover Bristol. The hotel in a good location and originally with decent rates for the listed services and plenty of parking spaces. Unfortunately for us the hotel heating was not working properly and the accommodations were freezing, the swimming pool was closed. The bar staff looked like a bunch of theatre extras and not really switch on considering the very low number of customers in the bar early evening. Very pleasant and professional front house staff. Decent breakfast buffet.

Stay was fine. Good to see anti bacterial gel all around the hotel. Ordering food for room using WhatsApp seemed to work fairly well.

What can I say this is the only hotel to stay in if you are in Bristol. The location is excellent spacious rooms and beautifully decorated with great large screen TV and the best bed I had slept in a very long time. The buffet breakfast is excellent with a very good selection would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and the staff are amazing. James was absolutely fantastic and went the extra mile to make our stay really memorable.

4* Hotel, 2* service

The Hotel itself was Ok but service was lacking. First night I used the restaurant however the Chicken pie only had only 2 pieces of Chicken and the peas were hard. The waiter asked if he could take my plate but initially did not ask if everything was ok, I had to make a point of my dissatisfation. 2nd day, ok I got up late, but I would expect in a 4* that someone came back later in the day. Getting back to the Hotel at 11:30pm I was unable to get a beer as the bar was closed and there was no room service due to "staff shortages" and it was suggested I call deliveroo! Even in a 2/3* Ibis the desk staff know how to get a customer a drink.

Ignored initially at check in whilst a member of staff wandered off and loudly announced I’ll be back after I’ve got a cup of tea. ( leaving a queue and one other receptionist) . No swimming pool despite photos all over site when I booked - and the £143 price tag ( we’ve stayed recently in London for less with nicer facilities). Room shabby and depressing. Curtain hanging off in one section and mold around the bath. Shower was at best warm and a trickle. A premier Inn would have been better and half the cost. Really annoyed with the experience and probably won’t choose this chain again.
