Convenient, clean and comfortable

A well positioned hotel with good rooms, excellent beds and a good breakfast. The pool was small and busy but a comfortable temperature and clean, and the changing rooms are in need of an upgrade. The windows don’t open and the room was a little warm at night, despite the lowest setting on the rather noisy air conditioning. We would stay there again, but I wouldn’t rave about it.

A one night stay at the Mercure Holland House met expectations, although the building is beginning to feel a little dated. This is more than compensated for by the attentive staff and central location for business in Bristol

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I was pleased to learn we met your expectations on your latest visit. Thank you for your kind words regarding the team and I shall ensure they are made aware. Thank you again. regards Chris

WELL RUN HOTEL, EFFICIENT AND PLEASANT STAFF

Rooms were lovely-bed was comfortable but after that it went downhill. Shower temp control was broken leaving it scalding hot. Had to use the gym changing room showers instead. One was broken so that the shower head wouldn’t stay up. In the other the door lock wouldn’t work and the light was broken. Oh, and the rowing machine batteries were flat. Complained at reception only to be told to send an email. Sent an email as instructed and have heard nothing. Premier Inn and Travelodge offer better customer service and quality than this place. Sorry! Could do so so much better!

Very disappointing weekend away with the family

Have raised a complaint already. 1. Parking not managed - got blocked in hotel car park and no one in Hotel empowered to resolve. Paid for 2 days parking but couldn't park on 2nd day due to over crowding. 2. Disabled Room - given a disabled room with knee height sink, no bathroom dresser, shower too low to stand under, leaking shower over floor, limited room in show due to disabled seat, and no shelf to put soaps on in shower. Not appropriate for a family of 4, non disabled. 3. Only half a roll of toilet paper provided for a family of 4 on first night!! 4. Family evening meal in the hotel very disappointing in many ways (food quality, behaviour of service staff, major delays to individual meals, multiple reminders to deliver food, incorrect food delivered) 5. Swimming pool: murky water, too high clorine levels, slippery/slimy tiles by side of pool, lockers unusable as despite saying they take £1 coins, they only take OLD £1 coins, not good to find out after the family has got changed for swimming. Very dated and unwelcoming.

Staff friendly good check in. Lovely room, good location. Nice ambiance. Only negative was the pool and changing room. Needs uplifting it was very dreary and the paint flaking and broken tiles. It wasn't a cheerful experience using the pool area.

OK location and overall, a good stay

A good sized room and very comfortable. All staff were very helpful and courteous. Clearly the restaurant struggled at breakfast when the hotel was full - it was somewhat chaotic at times and certain breakfast items were not available for the duration of our time at breakfast. My biggest disappointment was the miserly approach with replenishing the mini-bar. I had paid for an upgrade to include free soft drinks. Having consumed the water and a can of cola on our first night, I was very surprised that these weren't replaced for the duration of our stay - rather mean to say the least.

Well located, car parking, friendly staff

We stay at this hotel a lot, this time it was for valentines and my birthday. I had a lovely few days. The only thing I will say is that iit needs to get a bit of tlc as the flushes are very hard to do, the shower still had the same pipe leaking as we said about last year as we had a room we have stayed in before. Also I think the rooms need a refresh on carpets and furnishings. It won't stop us coming back as we always have great service and the area is ideal for us.

The wind blow through the vents which kept us awake a lot of the night, the bathroom smelt odd and stale. We had to que for 20 minutes to check in. The pool changing rooms needed a bit of a Sprouse up. But the staff where very nice and helpful. The breakfast was very nice. The beds where very comfortable and the bar area was also nice.

Mr K. Couples - 19/02/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

The hotel was easy to find and there were plenty of car park spaces available. Check in was quick and easy but no offer to take our bags and only floor 5 for directions to our room. Reception staff member said it would be ok not to book for the evening meal as 7.30 would be fine. Found our room which was big and spacious and stocked adequately. To get hot water in the shower you had to turn the bath hot tap on first, not ideal but a known trick! Evening meal restaurant was quite full but we were given a table almost straight away. In the end customers were being turned away to wait as it was busy. Served quickly for drinks, starter and main. Starters were ok but nothing special. Warm soup and toasted bread with no butter and loads of lettuce with a small amount of terrene. A short wait for mains which were ok but the salad was an overdose on cheap lettuce. After 20mins of looking at empty plates the restaurant manager came to clear them. " Are you finished" I said, 20mins ago he replied "we are doing our best" The couple next to us ordered their dessert before us and we received ours before them and nearly finished before they got theirs. The desserts are what I can only explain as school dinner type puddings. Chantilly cream, choc brownie and sauce pre prepared served in a glass. The Eaton mess was poor quality pre prepared where the fruit had run into the cream and a meringue nest snapped in half and stuck in the top. No skill whatsoever to produce these puddings and not worth the money. We left a little disappointedly. On the way out we booked a table in the bar for the following evening. Breakfast was a free for all. Staff were doing their best to refill on a busy breakfast. We ordered mushroom omelettes, mine was overcooked and dark brown and my wife's was flat with no aeration to it. On the second evening our Bar table was prepared and laid up with a reserved notice. We shared a starter, good quality and hot. Mains were delivered quick, freshly made but still on cold plates but were very good. Desserts were completely different to the previous evening well made and good quality. Breakfast again was hit and miss affair, no yogurts no fresh fruit etc etc. But we had satisfactory for our journey home. Swimming pool was clean and well lit. Changing rooms were poor, water all over the floor, light did not work in the shower and there were no wet costume bags but the swim was ok. Checkout went without any problems. Would we return to this Hotel again, probably not, would we recommend this Hotel to family and friends same answer No. Summary, food hit and miss but generally just an ok, restaurant service could do better and leisure facilities need looking after on a more regular basis.

Well located, pleasant room & excellent breakfast.

A £15 charge for car parking was somewhat of a disappointment on arrival. Otherwise, apart from the lack of instructions regarding the turning on of the electricity, & the setting of the heating in the room we were very pleased with our stay and would use the hotel again.

One of many business trips across UK. Nice hotel in good location. Staff are professional and breakfast staff are friendly. Systems don't recognise regular customers, and bar staff wouldn't charge to my room as "there was no-one staying in it".

Good facilities l, helpful staff and good food.

Room was great, many thanks to the hotel team for making our anniversary stay really special. Parking was problematic. Had to find off site spaces as the car park was rammed.

We were first allocated an adjoining room and could hear the occupants in the next room as soon as we moved in. Position remedied by reception who immediately agreed to move us to another room. However, we should never have been allocated an adjoining room in the first place.

Staff were helpful and bed was comfortable.

Was a good stay in a well located area a 10 min walk from all the pubs, restaurants and bars! The room we were given was lovely, however our room despite having a temperature gages was very hot. We moved it down to the coolest temperature and fastest fan but still no change! Another reason I haven’t reviewed as 10 is because of the parking. On the website and upon booking it advises there is parking available, however upon arrival we had to drive round and round to see if a space had become available. To which I’m the end we parked in a NCP nearby which costed a fortune for 24 hours. I feel if you have booked the hotel a parking spot should become available as the stay was not cheap and to have parking added on top was a huge inconvenience.
