Good Location

Shante N. Couples - 12/02/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

Was a good stay in a well located area a 10 min walk from all the pubs, restaurants and bars! The room we were given was lovely, however our room despite having a temperature gages was very hot. We moved it down to the coolest temperature and fastest fan but still no change! Another reason I haven’t reviewed as 10 is because of the parking. On the website and upon booking it advises there is parking available, however upon arrival we had to drive round and round to see if a space had become available. To which I’m the end we parked in a NCP nearby which costed a fortune for 24 hours. I feel if you have booked the hotel a parking spot should become available as the stay was not cheap and to have parking added on top was a huge inconvenience.

Good location but lacks proper class to be a four star hotel, 2 to 3 star at most

Had to request different room. Noisy and cold upon arrival. The pool gym facility is very dirty and tired. Was really concerned about the H&S of the gym and equipment.

The staff at the front desk were very polite and helpful, nothing was a problem and I would have no hesitation recommending this Hotel to anyone

I booked this hotel for a higher price than the others I’d considered as it had pool facilities. We checked in on Friday night, then on Sunday morning attempted to use the pool to be told that it was closed on sunday mornings. The staff on reception did not attempt to offer an explanation; if you advertise a hotel with particular facilities then it should be communicated that they are unavailable at certain times.

Location was perfect for our needs, we were attending an event on the quayside a short stroll away. Room was comfortable but bathroom was a letdown; the sink was blocked and the entire hot water system failed overnight! Thankfully, the failure of the hot water resulted in the cancellation of any parking charges, a good job because the car park is nowhere near adequate for such a large hotel. Our car was damaged due to the size of the parking spaces; sardines have more space even when they are packed in a tin! Staff were disinterested when we reported the blocked sink and hot water issues. Whilst I understand this hotel is in a large city, close to Bristol Quay, I do not expect to see rats brazenly running around by the hotel entrance. Be warned, the dining facility is not capable of dealing with large numbers at breakfast time. We queued for around ten minutes and watched the flustered staff attempt to make the best of a poor situation. For me this hotel is a serious let down for the Mercure brand.

Disappointing

Mark S. Business - 10/02/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

There were a number of things that led me to rate this as dissatisfied. 1. £15 a night for car park - not clearly advertised if at all 2. No hot water for shower 2/3 mornings 3. No crisps stocked in bar, when I ordered sweet potato fries they were cremated 4. Fridge in room was not cold 5. TV had not got ITV 6. Dirty towels, plates and glasses were not cleared from room from nights 1 and 2.

As a frequent visitor to this hotel it always meets my expectations. Room are excellent and spacious although there does appear to be recurring issues with the TV service offered and in particular accessing BBC1 and BBC2

My parents booked for me to join them when they visited me at Uni. Initially booked for one night then extended to 2. Was told I would be able to keep the same room. Returning from a day out on the 2 night I found that I couldn't get into my room, expecting it just to be a problem with my key I returned to reception to be told I could no longer stay in the same room and needed to move as they had over booked! Very annoying, the manager not particularly helpful. Offered me dinner as compensation, but when I rang down to order they said it was to late despite saying He was available until 2am!

I stayed with my two children for one night - the hotel and room were lovely (even though we couldn’t open the windows) but we were disappointed with the pool. The water was cold and it is in need of decorating and the showers didn’t work properly.

The room was very cold. The shower was only luke warm. The room was incredibly noisy as it had a connecting door to another room which provided no sound insulation and sounded as if the guests next door were in my room

Very disappointing

markF8557OL Business - 09/02/2020 TripAdvisor review

For £100 a night for standard room, I do not expect to experience multiple issues: 1. No hot water 2/3 mornings 2. Used towels, plates and glasses not cleared from room when housekeeping visited each day 3. £15 a night for car park 4. No crisps stocked in the bar 5. Fridge was not cold

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. There was indeed an issue with the boilers affecting the hot water system and offer my apologies for this. The boiler issue has now been fully addressed and is working correctly. Our Eco Policy means we will replace used towels if left on the floor however if they are hung up we will not replace. Our car parking charges are very competitive for Bristol and in fact less than many car parks in the city centre. The bar menu has many snacks available should you not require a full meal. The mini fridges in the bedrooms are checked systematically to ensure their safety and that they are in good working order. I will ensure the team review this system to ensure we do detect any fridge not working correctly. Once again my apologies for the issues you faced. regards Chris

All the staff we met were incredibly friendly and courteous. The only downside to our trip was the parking. The hotel was extremely busy and there is no drop off area at the front. With a baby and young child this was very difficult, but other than that we can’t fault our stay. The family room was a great size too.

Large Central hotel

Tim P. Couples - 05/02/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

Great staff. Experience marred by lack of TV remote ( TV wouldn't work via buttons on side of it, so pretty sure TV remote was removed rather than repair or replace TV.) Also no hot water on Sunday morning, apparently die to faulty boiler. No parking spaces available on Saturday despite being included in secret escapes deal. Chaotic breakfast service on Sunday morning ( could do with a faster tea and coffee system and a few more staff to help clear tables) bed and room good and staff helpful.

Lovely hotel, excellent value

I stayed here for one night for work, and thought it was excellent value. The bedroom was spotless, breakfast was generous and tasty, and I even managed to swim twice!
