Weekend stay

Embarrased TripAdvisor review

The hotel was very well air conditioned which was very welcome in this very hot weather. We arrived half an hour early but were not allowed into the room until 3.00 p.m. We were told that even though the room as ready they were not allowed to allow us to the room. Other people were also refused. The room was spacious and clean but when my husband retrieved his hat from on top of the wardrobe it was covered in dust. He took a photo and reported it to reception. Nothing was done about it for the length of our stay. The bar had no draught beer or bottled and this was the same for the length of our stay . Food was edible but uninspiring. Management needs to look to the impression it is giving. The door to the car park was not accessible from the outside which meant patrons had to walk around to the front carrying their luggage. We found this hard work as pensioners.

Nice to have a swim

The hotel lobby was lovely and cool which was welcomed in such weather. Sadly the aircon didn’t prove so efficient in our room and despite being on the lowest setting blew out lukewarm air at its coolest. The bed was large and offered the potential for a good nights sleep had the room not have been so warm. What I found grim was the discarded used items in the corridor on route to our room. In 24 hours they were not cleared once. Used cutlery, crockery…. A toothbrush, cans of coke etc lined the route. Not the nicest to experience and I was quite surprised even no nighttime collection occurred!! We headed down to use the pool the next morning, only to have to head back up to reception when our key didn’t work where we were told “your room key won’t let you in”. Perhaps some information on check in enlightening us to this would be beneficial. There are also no towels supplied for the pool despite advertisement as a ‘spa’ so the room towel had to be used, then used again in the room when already wet. Perhaps I should have just discarded it in the corridor, it would have blended right in. We chose this hotel for the pool. But on our next trip to Bristol we will be staying elsewhere. We didn’t complain at the time as we didn't care too but I have been sent an email for feedback so I might as well be honest

Chrishcardiff Business - TripAdvisor review

Where to is by far the worst business hotel I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Unclean, dreadful decor and broken sanitary conveniences. Staff are polite though but I feel sorry for them having to manage the place.

Could be great but let down by housekeeping

Housekeeping put a note under the door that our room would not be serviced, as we had the “Do not disturb” sign up at 09:45. Breakfast was still being served! Some toiletries in the bathroom were empty upon arrival and never replaced. Upon asking at reception, we were given a range of excuses rather than an apology and an offer of a solution. When asking again the next day, we finally received an apology after some prodding and were presented with some small toiletries that were left over from the changeover to the large bottles. Why this was not offered on the first day remains a mystery. The pool area was not properly cleaned. There was a plaster by the pool for the entire 3 nights of our stay and a second one appeared on the last day. The showers in the ladies’ changing room were blocked with hair. The pool water had small particles floating in it. Apparently the head of housekeeping was off for the duration of our stay. Makes you wonder! Breakfast was fine and the room was great. Fix the arrogant receptionist and poor housekeeping and you’d have a great hotel.

Firstly the air conditioning in my room was not working and obviously with the extreme heat at the moment that was not overly helpful I was given a fan but but one fan to cool a very hot room was not enough, Air-conditioning is stated on the booking so therefore that’s what I should’ve received, I was told maintenance could possibly come out but nobody did. Secondly the lift to the swimming pool was not working therefore I had to go round the entire building past row of houses some building work through the car park and then back into the hotel, Apart from being extremely bumpy in my wheelchair and extremely inconvenient it was rather embarrassing. Was again told maintenance were coming but they did not . Thirdly when trying to enter the hotel as a disabled guest you have to press the button and wait for someone to come from the desk to come and let you in with the key so you can then go up the little elevator and then you’re on the same level as the hotel I understand them needing to do that the first time because I hadn’t checked in but once been checked in if you’re wanting to keep that elevator locked I don’t understand why I’m not giving a key so I didn’t have to keep asking a member of staff to let me in and out every time I wanted to leave the hotel , I should be able to enter and leave whenever I feel like it without Having to ask permission it , I do feel as a wheelchair user that this procedure needs looking at , felt undignified and often had to wait some time. Considering I had to pay more for an accessible room I seem to get less than a cheaper able-bodied room.
