One of the worst rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel is not well maintained. The bathroom had hygiene stains all over the wall. The door was broken, sofa bed was as squeaky as it gets not allowing us to sleep. There were bed bugs for sure. Very dissatisfied

I was expecting better facilty, furniture The room furniture is old and low quality, the sofa bed which costs me double price of normal room is very uncomfortable and makes sounds. The room carpet smells bad and the AC smells worse Nothing in the bathroom beside shampoo and soup. 500+ AED per night

The Novotel nightmare in Sharjah — Accor’s worst property hands down!

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

268hammads Business - TripAdvisor review

The Novotel Sharjah Expo Center — Where hospitality is on life support. If there’s a competition for the worst Accor property, Novotel, Sharjah Expo Center, wins—hands down, no contest. And what makes it worse? Management doesn’t even pretend to care or listen to what the guests are saying. A prime example of this incompetence and indifference is that I haven’t received a post checkout survey even after two weeks. Where to begin this tragic comedy? I stayed for 12 days, and the long list of mishaps began immediately after check-in. My room had no internet. Their IT team spun a tale about some guest device “interfering” with their network, as if we’re all living in a sci-fi thriller. Two days, countless emails, and still no internet. What kind of IT team takes 48 hours to fix Wi-Fi in a hotel? A terrible one, obviously. I even emailed the general manager—radio silence. Not a word. Not a check-in. Nothing. Now, the room itself—where do I start? Oh, right: stains. Big, loud, unapologetic stains on the chair and sofa that greeted me like an unwelcome guest. Daily cleaning? Sure, if that means ignoring the biohazard on the furniture. And the table? Chipped to the point where it looked like a relic from an ancient battlefield. Charging devices here is a masterclass in inconvenience. Three outlets: one taken by the kettle, one on the desk, and one thoughtfully placed near the toilet slightly above the floor to test your patience. Yes, because nothing says “luxury” like charging your phone next to the loo. Need to charge by the bedside? Too bad. Oh, and the USB ports by the bed? Dead on arrival. Naturally, the management’s response was consistent — total silence or maybe a clueless response aimed at placating the guest. The dining area deserves its own chapter in this review. The menu was a monotonous parade of tasteless recycled leftovers. Stale salads, repetitive dishes, and all the creativity of a cafeteria on autopilot. The servers, meanwhile, seemed to think they were extras onboard some budget flight, rushing around without ever actually attending to guests. Special shoutout to Abdallah, Vincent Jr, and Umesh for their sheer lack of basic hospitality skills. Pro tip: Learn to read cutlery language before you snatch plates from under a guest’s nose and waste enormous amounts of food. The front desk was no better—possibly worse. No concierge, a disorganized team, and a standout performer in terrible service: Sumera. Twice, my key card was deactivated despite informing her of my checkout time. Twice, I was locked out of my own room. I wouldn’t trust this crew to manage a lemonade stand, let alone a hotel front desk. And then, the pièce de résistance: the room they gave me for seven nights faced a never-ending cacophony of traffic. As a light sleeper, this was pure torture. By day nine, I’d given up on sleep entirely—maybe the management wanted to help me “experience” insomnia firsthand. To be fair, a few staff members deserve some praise for standing out in this sea of incompetence. Mark from Myanmar, Alhem from Tunisia, and Chef Momal from Pakistan did their best to make guests feel welcome at the Orient Restaurant. Cleaner Jameel from Bangladesh was respectful and courteous, proving that not everyone at this property is completely indifferent. Final verdict: Avoid Novotel Sharjah Expo Center like the Spanish plague. There are better options nearby—hell, sleeping in a rented car or cab might be more comfortable. If you’re tempted to book in the Al Khan area, consider a stay at the Pullman instead. Or the other nearby properties . Both options will save you time and some sanity.
