This staycation was meant to be a romantic getaway to celebrate the upcoming addition to our family. Instead, a series of unacceptable operational failures completely ruined the surprise and wasted half of our day. • 10:30 AM: I made a special trip down to hand over a bouquet of flowers, intending it to be a surprise in our room upon check-in. Your front desk staff explicitly assured me the flowers would be kept in the fridge to ensure they remained fresh. • They also informed me that my request for an early check-in could not be accommodated, advising me to return at the standard 3:00 PM check-in time to "prevent any disappointment". I respected this and complied. • 3:40 PM: We arrived for check-in, only for me to realise, that the flowers were still just sitting at the front desk. We were then made to wait for 40 minutes before finally being escorted to the lounge. It was at this point I requested to see a manager. • Because of this massive delay, we were forced to cancel our scheduled spa appointment. • 5:00 PM: The room was finally ready, a full two hours past your official check-in time. To make matters worse, the flowers were still not in the room. • 6:10 PM: The flowers were finally delivered. By then, the surprise for Rachel was entirely ruined. I am frankly shocked at how poorly this was handled from start to finish. Basic requests were ignored, the room was severely delayed, and the front desk's lack of coordination turned what was supposed to be a joyous milestone celebration into a highly frustrating ordeal. This detail has caused us to miss our SPA appointment as we did not have enough time to enjoy ourselves, in the end it was just check in - eat dinner and sleep.

Breakfast staff is lovely. During our stay, we asked for services multiple times with no luck. I’m still waiting for my ice bucket that I asked at reception. Fine if I stayed at Mercure, not what I experience usually at Novotel.
