As advertised

Pretty standard fare - room slightly smaller than expected but clean and with expected amenities. A bit cold - and the heating went off a couple of times too.

Not Great

Not a great experience unfortunately. I've stayed here twice and had issues both times. the last time I was downgraded to a twin room after booking a double, certainly not what I would have expected, surely an upgrade or the offer of a discount due to the room change is the way forward, but nothing was offered apart from a couple of bottles of water. This time, the room was cold and the air con system clearly only pushed out cold air, I called reception and they suggested setting it to 26C, unfortunately cold air was the best I got. Reception did sent up a 'noisy' plug in heater that did the job but certainly wasn't expecting a cold room. Its a shame that 2 different stays were on the negative side as the location is good for me, unfortunately this hotel will not be on my radar in the future for visits to Edinburgh.

I have loyalty card and was given room in minus two - then the charge they take in case of using anything was not able to be returned to me - the reception again had made an error. They told me I had to contact my bank even though it was they who made this problem! Never again. Whilst the room on first floor was basic and clean the one first given to me (I am used to being upgraded) was on minus two and I felt claustrophobic - rooms have a tiny window otherwise reasonable for a three star hotel. Will not return here as I would prefer to pay more and get a decent hotel.

Good location, bad service

Good Location, but not service. For member benefits, the receptionist will never upgrade your room, offer complimentary breakfast on weekend until I ask for them. And when I asked for later checkout, staff simply responded 12pm without checking the availability and member’s benefit of later checkout. On the other hand, the amenity shortage occurred, there was not slippers left during my stay, but the hotel promised slippers at room.

Nice hotel rooms very smart. Walk to Edinburgh old town about 20mins and Uber to George’s street for bars is about £5 and arrive very quick in Edinburgh. Was told there was parking by the hotel but it was shut for New Year’s Eve. The hotel then told me to park in alternative but would cost more, for ease we chose to park there. When checking out on the 2nd January it turned out this car park was also shut meaning there was no way of leaving. This was frustrating but the hotel did give us a room at a reduced rate but I felt they could have done more since it was their recommendation that meant we had to stay an extra night. Maybe refunded the Prosecco from the first night something along them lines.

Disappointing stay

Paid quite a lot for a 4 night stay in a standard double room. Negatives: - room was taty and dusty - No chair in room - No hairdryer - shower performance was poor - corridor smelt like raw sewage every morning - room was in the basement = no view - bed was very squeeky - mini bar not filled Overall, quiet frankly a poor experience and rather unacceptable given the price of the stay. Hoping to receive some sort of gesture from the hotel, but who knows.

Check in time was at 2pm, I got there at 2:10pm and I was told my room would be ready in a few minutes which I had no issue with but then I was stuck waiting for over an hour with no update apart from when I went up to ask. When I asked how long it would be I got a sarcastic comment from one of the members of staff saying "It'll be ready when it's ready". I am a silver Accor member so I should have priority check in but I saw a least 4 people get rooms before me. This was very frustrating as I was in Edinburgh for one night and this took a lot of time out of a short trip.

Worst room ever.

Horrible room (room number 419), with no view (window out to inner courtyard), constant smell of sewerage coming through the shower, loud noise from air conditioning machines on roof (loud humming and sometimes high-pitched sound), arm chair with broken arm on one side.

Very Well located

My only criticism would be it was too much of a walk for us.doqn to Haymarket. Otherwise the hotel was fine

The hotel itself is in a nice area of Edinburgh. Easy enough to get into central/touristy locations. The room was a nice size and the bed comfortable. However, the hotel was clearly managed very poorly. There was black mould in our room, and it wasn’t very clean. We were given an alternative room, which was also mouldy in places. In terms of the facilities advertised, worth noting that the A/C was only working for 1 night of our 4 night stay. There is also no Apple TV functionality, conflicting with the hotel’s marketing material. You get the overall impression that management are trying to keep costs low. Staff communicate with each other via WhatsApp on their personal phones, which looks extremely unprofessional at reception. TL;DR - cheap but plenty of better options in Edinburgh

Couldn’t find our booking and then put us in a room that did not have legal requirements, moved room but the main issue is staff, only one receptionist was lovely so 4 star hotel with 1 star staff.

We love using this hotel when visiting Edinburgh. We felt reassured with the hotel's Covid measures. The staff, as always, were friendly and professional, and Breakfast was enjoyable with good choices. Hope to visit again soon!

Pretty poor all round.

Had guest come over from South Africa and we all booked to stay in Edinburgh for the weekend. It was not cheap and don't think we got value for money. Just the small things like maybe a bottle of water in the room or some decent TV channels. It's a huge price to pay for just a bed. We were also told that it was breakfast box only and when we arrived we noted it was a full breakfast buffet. After paying the extra for breakfast it was pretty sad. Not a great selection and the coffee was diabolical. We went to the restaurant around the corner for breakfast on our final day.

Food on offer was only breakfast of which was cold 2 mornings of the 3 I was there. I asked for a fried egg and the response was 'We don't own a frying pan', what hotel doesn't do a fried egg?! Wifi was so bad that I had to cancel 3 morning meetings and go to a local coffee shop. Considering you pay this high amount for the rooms/hotel you'd think the wifi was good enough to take a short Zoom meeting, however this was very poor across the 3 nights I stayed. There was no water available to drink OR even buy which resulted in me having to walk to the local shop to quench my morning thirst. The business paid an add-on to the room to expense potential food or drink costs, however there was no food available (even snacks) AND when I did go to expense 1 pint of beer they questioned who I was under the booking I had just checked in with 2 minutes prior (the bar is right next to the check-in, its the same place). Overall extremely poor stay with zero benefit of paying a higher amount for a good stay. Better off in a Travelodge.
