Whilst our stay at the very busy hotel was most enjoyable, we were kept awake by guests in the adjacent room arguing in the early hours. We found the room very compact with little spare space whilst the bathroom was very dated and the sound from the pipework obviously needed attention. The staff especially in the very busy dining room were most attentive.Well situated

Dear Guest, Thank you sincerely for this review of your recent stay with us. I am delighted that you enjoyed your time with us we look forward to welcoming you back when you are next in Edinburgh. Kind regards, James Fraser General Manager

we found the staff very welcoming and extremely obliging. Nothing was too muvh trouble.

The room was clean and tidy when we arrived. Plenty of tea and coffee on hand, and refills always available. Breakfasts were good and service excellent.

Great Location but too many disappoint things.

Great location for weekend visit but given how much I paid (over £200 per night) I expected a better hotel. Bathroom was shabby, towels tatty. Room was not made up on second day this was annoying and I had to go and ask for dry towels, teabags etc. The worse part was issue with the door. We had to keep trying to slam it shut but were able to push it open without the keycard. I did report this but it was not resolved will we were there. In my opinion the place needs a refurbishment.

ok

We arrived Friday where on the receptionist couldn’t find our booking- when he did it wouldn’t print!!! He asked us to leave it with him as a queue of 8 guests were waiting- in the office were 2 girls doing nothing!!! All our friends were given a choice of room we were given the back - as the organiser I was more than miffed. The breakfast staff were always on the Blackfoot filling up - I like the tea/ coffee station. Your drinks are horrendous in price - perhaps a discount for residents. Over the 4 years Webern coming the reception has always let you down and we’ve fed that back!! So we gather this won’t make any difference either.

Rooms look tired, but are comfortable. However, was kept awake every night by scaffolding being erected on front of hotel from 23:00. No prior warning and no apology

We were given incomplete information regarding transport and how to get to the hotel. We were told we would be able to drive to the back of hotel and drop our bags, before driving to the parking lot. However, we wasn't told that to get to the back of hotel, it has to go through the pedestrian area, which made it illegal to do that on a busy street. So we were driving around the city to try find this back area and ended up having to stop on side road and walk to the hotel. It just better information should either be listed on the website or given properly when we called to ask about it. Would of saved us a lot of time and headache, especially when we have a child in the car and have been driving for hours to Edinburgh.

Excellent but for the orange juice!

Very nice and friendly hotel. Perfect location, 3 star bit close to a 4 starr hotel. Best Mercure I have ever stayed. Only bad thing is the horrible orange juice at breakfast .made from concentrate with much too much water, Absolutely no taste. Room very nice and perfect view. Very professional and friendly staff ar reception. Special compliment to Daniel a great ambassador for Mercure hotels!

Easy and quick check in. Stains, possibly blood on sink and our pillows as well as a window that wouldn’t close. However after telling reception, it was fixed right away which we were happy with. We went for dinner in the restaurant, shown to our seat but nobody came back to take our order. We were happy sitting looking at the view but 20 mins had passed and still no order despite 4 members of staff chatting in the corner carrying on. I had to then go up and ask if we could order. He didn’t ask if we wanted drinks and before we could ask he was away. Food came, asked if we could order drinks and he said he’d be back in a moment.....he didn’t return. I must add, the food was delicious. We came to the end of our meal and still had no drinks so we left as soon as we were finished. We would have ordered a bottle of wine and dessert but decided not to bother considering the service we had received. I’d like to add that it was a senior member of staff that served us, as the other staff were in uniform but not this person. The staff at the front desk were excellent, I’d just like to add this. The location of the hotel was excellent but we will not be returning and will not be recommending. This was a gift for our wedding and really did put a dampener on our stay in Edinburgh.

Wonderful stay, great customer service. Clean, great location, good food and choice. Fully stocked bar area. The hotel could do with a modern revamp and would have loved a shortbread with the tea tray in the room ;) but that did not spoil the stay. Friendly helpful staff and all over great hotel. Having Christmas across the street added to the stay we were hoping for.
