A pleasant stay in a central location, handy for the railway station. Friendly staff, nice recently updated room with views across Princess Street. A good help yourself breakfast in a nice dining room.

Perfect location for the station and everything in central Edinburgh. We asked for a room with a view, and on the 6th floor overlooking Princes street gardens we got just that we had before us Castle, galleries etc it was was brilliant. The staff were all very nice and the food was great. If I was to give negative points it would be you can hear the trams running early in the morning and to reduce the noise with the windows closed it got quite hot and stuffy in the room. It’s not cheap but nowhere in central Edinburgh is, but would definitely stay again.

OMALILY TripAdvisor review

Our Uber driver told us that he was not allowed to stop in front of the hotel , so we had to walk a few steps to the entrance . The lobby is on the first floor , so if you have luggage be prepared to drag it up 6-8 steps to get to the elevator . There is a ramp for wheelchairs . The reservation desk and dining room are all on the first floor , with a spectacular view of Edinburgh Castle . If you pre-pay your breakfast [ very good --] you save about $ 6.00. The hotel is on Princess Street , with a great view of all the action on the street and the beautiful park on the opposite side . We thought this might be noisy for sleeping , so we were happy to get a room in the back of the hotel . Unfortunately our 2nd. floor room faced a dumpy courtyard with noisy ventilator fans that started at 5. a.m. -- Maybe on a higher floor it would not be so bad .. ? The staff were very nice .. there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance .. the public transportation to the airport is very good and just around the corner . The hop-on-hop-off bus is also very close and has a senior discount for either the 24 or the 28 hour tours . The blue line stops very close to the Cruise Port in Leith -- just outside of the mall with the royal yacht Britannia . We would stay here again , but on a higher floor .

You can drop off bags at the side street or park in St. Andrew’s Square or George Street, which are just behind the hotel. For future reference, please note there are four steps on the ground floor leading to the lift.
