We really love this hotel. The location is perfect and the hotel is stunning in all respects. The staff is also wonderfully helpful and friendly. We hesitate to give it a 9/10 rating due to a disturbing incident on our last morning, where someone tried to break into our room (Room 205) while we slept. Fortunately, we had the interior latch bolted at the top of the door, so the intruder was not able to enter. At first we thought it was perhaps Housekeeping staff trying to enter with incorrect instructions that we had already checked out. However, when we checked the outside of the door, the panel where you scan your key to enter had been removed and an interior chip plate was exposed. We immediately informed the front desk about the incident. Next time we stay at your hotel, we will only feel comfortable/safe on an upper-level floor and will book only with a guarantee of such.

Lovely free hotel history tour for guests with cumbia dance performance. Great rooftop restaurant/bar with World Cup games playing on multiple TVs as well as live band one evening, excellent vocalist! Loved the fresh flowers in the lobby and throughout the hotel. Delicious breakfast options. Our room was well appointed with a balcony overlooking the water & bridge with views of both old town & the modern city. Great sunrise spot from balcony. The AC worked well but I guess maybe a common issue in really humid environments that the unit did put out moisture into the air. There were several times I set items on the desk which wasn’t far from the ceiling vent that was blowing toward the desk and after like 30min those dry items felt damp. The comforter also always felt a bit damp. Even when I hung a couple sweaty clothes on the closet door handles to dry (no where near the vent) the next day they were more wet than when I wore it so had to hang it on the balcony chair in the sun to dry. At breakfast in the restaurant I watched drops of water fall from the ceiling units as well as in the lobby so definitely coming from the AC units. Disappointed in the rooftop restaurant in terms of good vegetarian options. I ordered the chickpea burger assuming in a 5 star hotel that it would be housemade and it was definitely a frozen patty. It was heated up but tasteless and I could pick it up and drop it like a rock on my plate. It came with the tiniest smear of a sauce on the enormous brioche bun (so more dryness and lack of flavor) and had 3 tiny pieces of avocado, not even full slices. For $18 expected way better. But overall, really cool property, friendly & helpful staff and great walkability to anywhere in Casco Viejo.
