Hey team. Just wanted to give you a bit of feedback from our recent stay. I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt it was important to share our experience so hopefully some things can be amended for future guests. We booked our stay on the same day we decided to visit SO/ Auckland. While check-in time was listed as 3pm, unfortunately we weren’t able to access our room until well after that. My pregnant partner (20 weeks along), our four-year-old son, and I waited in the foyer. We were kindly offered some candyfloss, which was a nice gesture, but it didn’t quite make up for the inconvenience of the delay—especially given my partner’s condition and having a young child with us. Another serious issue we encountered was with our drink order. We had specifically ordered a 0% beer over the phone to be sent up to the room for my pregnant partner’s birthday. However, what was brought to us was a full-strength 5% Steinlager. Unfortunately, my partner had already consumed a quarter of the bottle before realising it was alcoholic. This was incredibly disappointing and, frankly, dangerous considering her pregnancy. We did call back and the staff responded by offering two 0% beers as compensation, but the mistake itself was quite alarming. The young lady did come down herself to deliver the beers and she was very apologetic about the situation, But accuracy with these types of orders is absolutely crucial. Lastly, we experienced a concerning moment after breakfast. Both my partner and I felt extremely nauseous and ended up vomiting shortly after eating. Our son, who had a different meal, felt completely fine, so we’re unsure if it was something in the food (possibly the eggs), but it did leave us feeling uneasy. To be fair, I do want to mention that the staff were friendly and polite throughout our stay. It’s clear your team cares about guest experience, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, these particular issues impacted what we had hoped would be a special and stress-free stay. Our check in was very friendly and the room was lovely. Traffic noise was really bad at times at night. Didnt help with earplugs. Had an issue when we checked out...when we booked on line we are sure we clicked the $1.00 breakfast (why wouldnt we!). When we checked out the receptionist said there was a $98.00 charge for breakfast. I explained that when we booked we ticked the $1.00 breakfast option. She said I didnt as it wasnt showing on my booking, I said I did, she said "show me"! (That was the comment that really annoyed me the most)I tried to locate the confirmation in my emails but couldnt find it. I asked her if they had a $1.00 breakfast deal available when I booked and she replied they did, so why wouldnt I have selected that option? When we booked on line, we are adamant we selected that $1.00 breakfast but I didnt check my confirmation - I didnt think i needed to. She was quite rude about it and pretty much ruined our experience. The room was nice and my daughter booked a massage which she said was amazing.
