Your restaurant is over crowded! Your serving staff is poorly trained! Very unfriendly staff with very bad body language and not becoming of any one working in a service industry.

This is the first time I'm ever writing a negative review for a hotel after changing my initial review. Any iota of guest hospitality is only till they get a positive review. Expect no courtesy from anyone except the front desk and the housekeeping staff. The lobby, all the way to the corridors smells like beer and puke. Rooms are standard, nothing special to mention other than the poor lighting. I understand mood light, but there isn't a sigle ceiling light around the bed so good luck with reading. I travel frequently to many hotels, most hotels more than a few times a month, only at Ibis Rajarhat do you get a consistently terrible standard of service without fail. The staff is probably always sleeping because other than the front desk, no one will ever pick up your call even if you're dying of thirst. Rooms are never dressed properly and you always have to call for things to get in order, and I've already explained how the calls are received here. Despite prior intimation, smoking rooms are always unavailable, 5th stat in this hotel, no smoking room alloted till date. Same happened this time, but this time there was a wedding reception in the general smoking area and despite how much I crave the kick I'm not gonna smoke at the entrance of someone's wedding reception. Some rooms smell like damp mouldy wood, others are fine, so all depends on your luck. Despite 3 separate requests for a towel to the gym, no towel was provided. For some reason my company keep giving me the same hotel in Kolkata but I would never spend a single penny out of pocket to ever stay in this property, neither would I advocate it to any of my friends or family. Each stay here has felt like imprisonment. Despite the validity of your reason, they will not provide you with a second key card for a double sharing room, and the reason they give is so absurd you'll start laughing, I'm sure there must be some restriction to the front desk staff from the management, bottom line, I always have to bother the busy busy people for access to my floor. Soundproofing seems like foreign concept here because you can hear your neighbour's commode flush. And dare you show any displeasure! Upon confronting few of the staff I was hailed with all kinds of colourful jibes of hatred in Bengali, if only they knew I'm also a native Bengali and I understand all their distasteful remarks. Sure it has some good things too, few of the staff actually behave like they work at an Accor property, Subhro being one of them, my god I miss that guy! The mist feature of the shower head is delightful. And that's about it. I can't think of anything positive to say here. To summarise, if your work requires to travel frequently, and you need some much need rest and relaxation to unwind after a long days work, stay away from this one. This property is a shame to the Ibis product and L'espirit Accor is dead here!

On the whole it was a pleasant experience and reasonably good value for money. I found the room comfortable and the breakfast was good; though it seemed quite crowded most of the time. I guess this is to be expected in peak season. But often this meant that the staff were rushed and two out of my four days the coffee maker was non-functional. It would have been really useful to have a desk in the room for work. Also, I think there is an insect repellent plugged in on each floor but the odour from this is quite foul and overpowering.

I want to make it clear that this was my first time staying at your hotel chain. I ended up at your hotel because my favorite places were fully booked. However, I must say I am extremely disappointed with the experience and I feel compelled to give a zero rating for your hotel. It seemed like all your employees were unhappy and it appeared as if they hadn't been paid in months. This is my honest opinion. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception team was incredibly rude. It seemed as if they had no idea how to welcome guests properly. It was as if we had to pay extra just to get them to crack a smile. I have never encountered such unwelcoming staff at any other hotel. The confusion at the reception was overwhelming. I suggest providing basic manners training to all reception staff as they seemed lost and uninterested in assisting customers. I understand that as a non-star hotel, you may not have bellboys for handling baggage, and that's okay. But your employees need to improve their communication with customers. The fact that they bluntly told us to carry our luggage on our own without offering any assistance was shocking. Their lack of care and hospitality was truly disappointing. The housekeeping service was mediocre, with some washroom locks not working and delayed responses, which was acceptable. As for the restaurant, I was surprised by the lack of staff. It was chaotic and no one seemed to know who was in charge or who to talk to. I understand the shortage of staff, but the lack of service was unacceptable. In conclusion, this was my first and definitely my last stay at your hotel. I regret spending my money on such poor hospitality. My advice to management would be to invest in proper training for your staff members. People are what make a company great in the hotel industry.
