Reception staff were lovely and upgraded me for free. Bed was comfy and sheets supersoft. Furniture and decor looks a bit tired but what I expected for the price point. Breakfast was great, big range and tasty

Check in was good, and that's where it ended. 1. Room has no art work in it and was so bland it felt like we were in a low grade prison. 2. The balustrade on the stairs was so loose it was dangerous to use. 3. All PowerPoint's are on the ground so I had to boil the kettle on the ground. 4. I had to beg them every afternoon to come service the room because they had not done it, when they came I wouldn't even call it a service. They just pulled up the sheets and left. 5. The air conditioning. It didn't work outside of the bedroom. They spent a whole day on it and no one apologised and they just left and said it was fixed. 6. They charged us full price at happy hour twice and I had to pick up on it. They didn't send me a final bill so I'm still not sure if its correct. 7. No one asked me on check out how was my stay. 8. I was told the buffet breakfast included barista coffee and when I got there it didn't. If i had of been on holiday i would have been so angry and complained a lot more at time but to be honest this was the worst acorr experience I have ever had.

Great overnight family getaway in the city

My recent stay at the Mercure Hotel Albert Park was a disappointing catalogue of communication failures, operational negligence and a distinct lack of product knowledge by the reservations team. As a returning guest I was dismayed to find standards were lacking. I booked a room specifically requesting a fold-out sofa bed for my son, based on the room description in the booking app. Prior to arrival, I communicated extensively with a staff member named in reservations. Despite the app clearly stating the room included a sofa bed, they insisted it did not and attempted to charge an additional $70 per night for a rollaway bed. I declined the extra charge and we agreed on the following configuration: the King-size bed would be split into two singles. I also made two specific requests based on medical necessity: * Extra pillows: I had recently undergone surgery on both hands and my arm and require support to sleep comfortably. * Extra water: I require water to take medication and stay hydrated. These requests were confirmed and I was assured would be actioned and the room ready for our late arrival. We arrived at 10.45pm after a long drive. My son, who lives with autism, had just come from a three-day school camp and was physically and mentally exhausted on arrival. We entered the room to find that absolutely nothing had been done. * The King bed was not split. * There were no extra pillows. * There was no water. * Ironically, there was a bottle of wine, despite my Accor profile and previous communications explicitly stating I do not drink. Most frustratingly, there was a sofa bed in the room, directly contradicting the reservation staff's insistence that there wasn't. This false information caused unnecessary stress and planning. My son was unable to cope with the situation and was beside himself with anxiety and fatigue. I returned to reception and spoke to a wonderful staff member who had recently started her shift. She was unaware of any of my requests but was the only positive aspect of the stay. She was apologetic and personally came to the room to make up the sofa bed. This took an additional 30 minutes, delaying our sleep significantly, but her effort was appreciated. The morning of our departure the elevator to our level of the hotel was out of order. We were forced to navigate down several flights of stairs, cross over to the Pullman elevators to access the car park whilst struggling with our luggage. This delay caused us to be late for my son’s swimming event. The lack of respect shown by failing to communicate my requests to housekeeping is deeply concerning. To be left without basic necessities like water and pillows. especially after explicit requests, was completely unacceptable. I expected a much higher standard of care and competence.
