Although I enjoy staying at the QStation (National Park, Heritage Buildings, History) there are a number of drawbacks. While I understand the reason behind leaving vehicles in the carpark and using the Shuttle for transfers, the often-long waits for the Bus proved annoying. My husband is unable to walk long distances, especially with the hilly terrain, so the Shuttle was our only option. There seemed to be a lack of good communication between Reception and the Shuttles. Saturday night we were told to expect a 10 minute wait and were picked up after about 12 minutes which was ok. Sunday morning, when I requested a Bus to get to breakfast, I was told that things were pretty busy and to expect a wait. However, it took a good 20 minutes for the Shuttle to arrive. After breakfast we were told that there would be a bus in 10 minutes, but as we sat back down to wait for it in the restaurant we looked out and saw a Shuttle just pulling up which we quickly raced to and took back to our room. On a more positive note, however, my grandson took the bus to our room Saturday evening, dropped off his bags and jumped back on the Shuttle which took him down to Manly - so he had a very positive experience. Our room suited our group really well - comfortable bed and sofa bed and great shower. However, I failed to to mention on check out that the hairdryer (Room 90) was on its last legs. It stopped working on Saturday evening but did start up again on Sunday morning - but not for long, I would imagine. The bearings have totally gone and it is on the verge of burning out. I always hope that breakfast in Views Restaurant may have improved since our previous stay but, sadly, it has not. It is very basic and the lack of Barista coffee is most disappointing especially as the machine coffee is very poor. The staff on Reception and the Shuttle Bus drivers were very friendly and helpful.

Having the check-in done so well, we were greeted by John who had the perfect personality to greet people, especially considering we had had a stressful day getting there. Once settled in we went down to look beachside, and later returned for dinner. The dinner was absolutely amazing. A day looking around immersing ourselves in the history before ducking down to Manly for some lunch. Back to the Boilerhouse for another beautiful meal. The staff there were also fantastic. Breakfast on the second day was very disappointing, but overall a well needed get-away in a beautiful location.

We have stayed at the Q Station quite a few times and will continue to go back. This time was to celebrate our anniversary. It is such a beautiful location and we hung out at the Q Station as much as possible. We did a ghost tour, ate at the Boiler house Restaurant and had breakfast at the Wharf Cafe. Maureen at the Museum desk was lovely as we all those we had contact with. The location is idyllic, the history is humbling and the food is exquisite. We are looking forward to our stay again next month!
