Beautiful location

This was my first time at Q Station and I did not know what to expect. The location is stunning and my room was in the isolation area which was lovely and secluded with great harbour views. The food that we had throughout the stay was lovely and of great quality. My gluten free needs were well catered for. The room was a bit musty and needed a good air out. Lovely and spacious though with great amenities.

So close to Sydney city but so quiet and relaxing

Great accommodation, clean as a whistle, very friendly helpful staff, interesting tour guide, wonderful food for brekky and at the Boilerhouse restaurant. We had a ball.

I love it when everything goes as you’d expect and this is something that you not only got right but did really well. Check was a breeze with everything ready to go when we arrived and the check in staff were super friendly and efficient. The location and especially the view across the harbour is truly amazing. The room was basic but very clean and spacious. No air con means I’d avoid staying in summer again

Poor sleeping experience. Good food.

The hotel surprised is with how well it catered to small kids. Breakfast was fantastic, the rooms really comfortable and reception staff really helpful and knowledgable. Had a nice dinner at the restaurant and enjoyable walking tour. Ross was so passionate about the site and great to listen to.

Transport, rooms and free tour excellent. Staff on the whole friendly and pleasant. However, we didn't choose the booked meal restaurant . We chose to eat in the second restaurant. Where do we sit? Outside there. None of the tables are made up. Choose one. Please order and pay and we will bring the food and drinks and cutlery/serviettes to your table. OK. We'll have two cone barramundi and one plate of chips and two beers. That'll be $96 Sir. But the menu I hold here which they handed us at Reception says each plate of barramundi is $26 and the chips $10 and the two beers $16. The new price Sir for barra is $34, chips reduced to $8. I was nonplussed. I see you are upset Sir, let me give you each an extra beer of your choice. These second beers never arrived! I also bought an off-yellow tin mug inscribed 'Q Station'. One turn in my dishwasher and the inscription has disappeared. I have the exact same tin mug (different colour) from the Daniel's Den Hotel near Cooktown Northern Qld. Two and a half years washing in that same dishwasher and the inscription is still there. I would like a refund on this faulty souvenir which cost $7.50 as against the $5 in Northern Queensland (send the cheque to T. J., PO Box 2229, Rose Bay North NSW 2030).

This was the 6th Year that our women's group has spent the weekend at Q Station on the second weekend in February. We book two cottages side by side. We all spent time living in Wagga Wagga in the past and although now scattered around NSW, we have met up for weekends for over 20 years. One of our group died of breast cancer a few years ago. She loved Q Station and for that reason it seams to be the right place for us to get together. We always enjoy ourselves at Q Station, usually talking, eating, swimming and walking. This year we faced the challenge of the storms. However we got a couple of breaks in the weather and enjoyed some walks and managed to fill in our time in indoors. The cottages were nice and weather proof and we could still enjoy the views of the Jabour. Loved the additional decor for the cottages and new kitchen items such as crockery, utensils and cooking items. This was great for our group as we enjoy self-catering so we can sit around and chat. Only two suggestions for improvement 1) better recycling within each cottage / unit with a designated recycling bin and collection - at present it appears that the cleaners just add the separated recyclables into the general waste. 2) instructions for the induction cook top in case it is needed. We definitely intend to come again next year.

Dear Lee, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Q Station. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback from our regular return guests. It is lovely to see the traditions that you are creating with your group and it is a pleasure to welcome you back each year. Weather differences can certainly create a few challenges for our guests and staff. Thank you for your suggestions regarding recycling and the instructions for the cook tops. I will forward these on to housekeeping to look in to. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in February 2021. Sincerely, Casper Matthews Night Manager

Penny Couples - 12/02/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

I love the atmosphere at the QStation. The original renovations were so sympathetically carried out, you get a great sense of the history, but with just the amount of mod cons. I love that the rooms aren’t too modernised, ie, not air-conditioned. I love that you can’t take cars onto the property. I love the communal feel when you chat to the people in the next room on your shared outside area. I especially love the rooms with the separate bathrooms. There’s nothing like walking around to your bathroom early in the morning and seeing the first Manly ferry go past! I love the on-site restaurant, the Boilerhouse. I love the cosy breakfast room with a wonderful array of great brekkie food. I love all the friendly staff from reception, shuttle drivers, room service and restaurant and bar staff. They must all like working there! What I missed from previous visits though: I think there were proper jams and marmalade at breakfast in the past. Now, there’s just the individual portions in lots of plastic. I couldn’t see the tea and coffee facilities in the common sitting rooms that I’ve enjoyed before. There wasn’t a plug in our bathroom for either the wash basin nor the bath. (Not that I would have had a bath due to water restrictions in place at the moment.)

Dear Penelope, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Q Station. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback from our return guests. Your comments about the rooms, your stay, and our staff are amazing to read. I am pleased you found the view whilst walking to your bathroom lovely. I have forwarded your comments relating to there being no plug in the bathroom to the Housekeeping manager to ensure one is put in place, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Sincerely, Casper Matthews Night Manager

All good except the food at the Boilerhouse. The staff tried but the quality and price of the food was poor. We ate there on 2@nights .The very heavy rain made it almost impossible to leave the site and dine elsewhere.

Dear Elizabeth, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Q Station. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. It is wonderful to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your comments regarding air conditioning. As you may be aware the buildings at the Q Station are Heritage listed which restricts us in what we can and can not do with them. One of those restrictions is the adding of Air conditioning. It is something that we are looking for alternatives to keep our guests comfortable. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Sincerely, Casper Matthews Night Manager
