The guest rooms were extremely comfortable. The views from the verandahs and the Isolation guest lounge were spectacular. We realised we hadn’t explored all areas so will have to return for another visit.

Our second stay at the Q Station was even better than the first with a harbour view room and the museum open. With no windows in the room and a warm night we left the door ajar, only to be surprised by a possum joining us during the night. There is so much to experience in this authentic historical site on the beautiful Sydney Harbour.

Small Stuffy Rooms with no fresh air and no outlook

Restaurant was very nice and location good but was quite disappointed with the room which was small and hot with no air conditioning or ventilation via a window. The balcony was also average with only a view of the road and other buildings. 'Deluxe room' terminology was misleading.

This is our third stay and we weren’t disappointed. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather and a great room (P11 R41). We took food for a platter to enjoy with the complimentary wine. Breakfast is no longer a buffet, due to COVID. Staff take your order and serve each table. We had two completely difference experiences. The first day was swift and smooth. The second day took 90 minutes for us to have our breakfast. We had an outside table, bought a coffee from our room, watched the view and waited. Thoroughly enjoyed our walks around the property and those stairs! Can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful location, bad food

The location is really beautiful, it was the perfect place to stay and relax with the beach front views. The rooms that we stayed in had no air conditioning, no opening windows and the doors had no fly screens on them which meant we couldn't leave them open. It made for a very stuffy experience. The food at the Boilerhouse Kitchen was amazing, potentially the best steak I've ever had. However, the breakfast at the retreat was terrible. It was buffet style that reminded me of school camp when I was a kid. The eggs seemed like they were made from a powder, the bacon may have been plastic, and the toast was made using one of the conveyor belt style toasters that you need to put the bread through 4 times before it was toasted. Normally having a bad buffet like this could be made up for by going up and putting way too much food on your plate to try to find something that you like, however, due to covid, you weren't able to serve your own food. This meant that you had to put your order through to the waiter, then they had to go and get it for you. When you're on a retreat in a group of 11 and there's only 1 person serving you, you could imagine this made for a very slow breakfast and lunch experience. The coffee was equally poor quality, even the barista made coffee. I drink soy milk, and I unfortunately had to throw it out because it was so bad :( I'd recommend sending your baristas on a barista course, and using Bonsoy as the milk for soy milk, most other milks don't taste very well in coffees.

The staff were very friendly. Location excellent. Room very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was disappointing as there didn’t seem to be enough staff on, as due to COVID, whilst it was a buffet, guests were not able to help themselves. On the second morning we waited for 45 minutes for our order to be taken. We understand that COVID restraints make it difficult, however another staff member or two for the busy times would be beneficial. Other than that it was a lovely stay.

Really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were good & meal good in Boiler House in the evening. Historic tour was interesting n the Saturday morning with Jill. Considering COVID restrictions it was very good. Reception staff told us historic tour wasn't running due to COVID but we found out for ourselves when we saw one running.

Excellent 2 nights stay. Front office staff & housekeeping was lovely and accommodating. Would have been 10/10, only disappointment was the service & attitude of the young lady manager of the Views restaurant for both mornings we had our breakfast. Overall from a hospitality service perspective, the manager needs to be more hospitable, less dominant in her approach in the way she communicate when issue arises, lack of attention to details & very forgetful on orders on both mornings with our orders and other tables around us. Maybe the breakfast service needs an extra server due to the new procedures of sit down order service, the team are busy rushing, becoming forgetful & lack the ACCOR service standard. I was were served OJ with a quarter of the glass & ran out, never acknowledged and never came back to refill or apologize if ran out of OJ, or to offer another option. We were served tea in a water glass, failed to explain and apologized if a ceramic mug was not available, although we saw others with ceramic mugs. She forgot our friends order twice, again the coffee order with sugar and salt just one thing after another. As I mentioned it might be overwhelming for the manager and her staff. But definitely feedback must be passed on or more support or training required.

It was great, only issue was 2 out of our party of 4 had upset stomachs after dining at Boilerhouse on Fri 8th Jan. As both ordered main of Pork Belly we thought it may gave been due to this?

We have the best stay! >>>We had a room with a view of both the harbour and Manly just around the corner and there was nothing more peaceful than drinking our wine and reading a book on the balcony. >>>We have been able to go for multiple runs and walks all around the site and around North Head, our favorite spot in Manly. >>>We had the most fabulous time at Quarantine beach, I can't remember the last time I fell asleep on the beach! The water was perfect and we even did some snorkeling. >>>The staff are all amazing, especially this young guy who was single handling the bar during the whole weekend - the cocktails were just delicious! It was great to relax and sip our cocktails while still have the view and being able to fit a dip in between cocktails. >>>We dined at the Boilerhouse and had breakfast at Views both days and nights. Fantastic service and locations! While it didn't overshadow our wonderful stay, the food was quite average. The gnocci dish is probably one of the worst thing we've eaten in a long time. I would have also expected a better choice for customers dining more than one night. >>>We did the Ghost tour at night, and it was INSANE! I will recommend it to all of my friends and family, even if I'm a bit of a sceptic - the experience was mind blowing. The ladies and Snowy the guide were fantastic to deal with and really helped us coordinate everything. >>>We didn't have anyone cleaning our room during our two day stay which was a bit of a let down since this didn't give us the hotel feel we were after. >>> The killer stairs were fantastic even if they killed us :) We will definitely come back once there's another offer on for the rooms with a view and mostly likely will come back for the Sunset sessions.

Received our stay as a gift and when we shared pictures of the premises with the person who bought us the stay they said it didn’t look anything like what it was advertised as on groupon. There were spiders webs in every corner of the ceiling in our room. All activities were cancelled but we still had to pay a $160 surcharge for staying at the weekend. The breakfast was not great either, we opted for the usual cooked breakfast food. Sausages were like plastic and we didn’t get all of the breakfast items we asked for as the girl forgot our order.

The room was comfortable, however I believe there needs to be more communication from staff as well as better preparation for the amenities. When I arrived I was told I would get a bus shuttle to my room, when in the bus, the person driving did not acknowledge me neither asked me about where I was going to confirm location. I had my bags with me and I was new to the location. He drove me to the Restaurant area and indicated me the boiler house, I had to explain to him that I was heading to my room and not to the restaurant, he then said "oh I heard that you were heading to the restaurant", clearly something that could have been avoided if he was polite enough to confirm my destination with me. Once I arrived to my room I realized that the power points were not working as I tried to turn on the bed side lamps. After doing that I tried to use my hair straightener and later on the iron, but nothing. Luckily there was light but non of the power points worked, not even the phone which took me a while to reach reception and get someone to fix the electricity. Because In was running late for a dinner reservation I left the items I tried to connect to the power point plugged and left for the evening. On my return at around midnight I got a bus shuttle with one of the reception staff and asked if the situation was sorted, to which she replied "we fixed and noticed it was caused because you tried to plug both iron machine and hair straightener at the same time" blaming me for the issue. I explained kindly to her that I did this after noticing the bed side lamps and phone were not working and that I plugged these items in two different power points, one in the bathroom and the other one in the room. I believe that it would be quite dangerous if hotel were to lose electricity because there are 2 appliances connected at the same time, right?. I want to highlight that the reception service was good and I do understand that keep things smoothly during busy periods is not easy. However I felt that I was being accused for doing something that I honestly knew was not wrong. I would like to add the cleanliness of the bath tub It had a brown stain on the inside and seemed not clean enough. The toilet seat was clearly very old and smelly. Other issue I would like to mention was the breakfast. Due to the new covid guidelines it was hard to get service as there were often just 2 waiters in the breakfast area, it made it quite difficult to get coffee and something more than a bowl of cereal. Overall the location was very good and the view was very pleasant.

We had another lovely 2 night stay and ate at the Boilerhouse both nights. Excellent service and food and our room was very good. The Q station is an intriguing place to visit with lots of history and fabulous views
