It’s been an interesting year and going to Sofitel was the perfect way for us to recharge. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful, he rooms are beautiful and clean. The amenities are great! The breakfast is very good. We will definitely come again.

The hotel is designed as an art and it is fantastic hardware. The good maintained hardware impressed me so much. However, the software - the breakfast, the in room dining, the TV are not so impressive as the hardware. The service is fantastic and the staff are very helpful and professional.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel Kunming, but it did come with some hiccups. Our initial airport pickup was late, and then when we arrived at the hotel, the connecting rooms I had booked (and confirmed with reservations) were unavailable. While that was annoying, your staff found a good solution (put us all in a suite) that wound up being better! They were very professional and handled the situation very well. Once in the room, it was spacious and comfortable. The view was excellent as well! The food we had at the lounge and the Chinese restaurant were also excellent. The service (outside of breakfast) was also quite good. The only other big negative was breakfast. It is huge. While I would normal consider that a plus, aside from the quantity (and overall good quality) of food, the service was horrible. One morning, it took 4 waiters to get spoons, with one even telling me the restaurant didn't have any. Both mornings, the waiter forgot our drink orders. The 'cook to order' stations were not constantly attended, and when they were, they were poorly executed. The orders either took forever, were wrong, or were both. Also, please note, then when making Western style pancakes, you don't have to make them one at a time. You can make several at once even if the pan isn't huge. Still, despite these hiccups, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Terribly sorry for the brand

The check-in process is out of order, or totally in chaos. Three or more stuff are talking behind the front desk. They just neglected that someone jumped the queue. The young lady had no response when I firstly handed over my ID Card and claimed for check-in. She even forgot to introduce the time and location of the breakfast and club lounge. What's more, only a few dishes are in the discount list exclusive to Accor Plus members. I am feeling that it’s cheating on me. So that’s it. I don’t want to say more.

It was a decent stay at Sofitel in Kunming . I have a confusion in which it took me some time to close the curtain at night bc it was closely behind the TV and I didn’t find the auto control of it.

Staying for business travel, I found the hotel location extremely convenient to the downtown and the lake resort area. With public transportation nearby, one can easily access to the Kunming airport and Kunming Railway station, where daily high speed trains are available to Dali and Lijiang. Leisure travelers would find these features equally attractive. As a long term guest, I've witnessed management changes and staff turn overs. However, good service and friendly/smiley staffs remains the hallmark of the hotel. In particular, I found that the Front desk check-in staffs are very efficient, friendly and helpful; and not enough of Thank You can be said to the staff members working on 49th floor during breakfast each morning and excellent team at the Executive Lounge. Since I am a long term guests, my following comments may not be typical of a short term guest. 1) Loyalty program - the ALL limitless branding is very confusing, you have All-Accor Live Limitless, Limitless member of ALL, Live Life Limitless, ...why don't we call Name Limitless. As a diamond member, I don't see any concrete benefits that distinguishes from the Gold members. Free Sunday breakfast is just a token offer at best. 2) Executive Lounge - hot food variety, quality ingredient and food preparation/taste are the areas, in my view, continuing in need of improvement. I would strongly suggest to our chefs that before you put out any dishes, please give a close look, then taste them for freshness, texture, and taste,and then ask your self - are these of a 4* hotel quality? I would love to have some exchange with the hotel staffs on this 3) personal touch - in the past, when I stayed at other hotels, the hotels had shown special attention to long-term guests during special occasions, such as important local and international holidays, that the special attention in the form of special greetings, a small trinket, a box of gift item, etc. As a saying goes, it is not the value but the thought that counts. It is disappointing that this kind of "personal touch" is getting less and less as comparing with first few years when staying in this hotel.

For you lucky few, the view during an after-rain sunset from 48th floor is stunning. There is a room for improvement in terms of hot food variety, quality and presentation in the Executive Lounge on 48th floor. And sometime it can very loud at the lounge with kids running around.

Overall services are excellent. Staffs are attentive and friendlier and eager to help. Food quality in general needs improvement. For example, the weekly fruits basket often lacks fresh local and seasonal products. And during a recent month, rose apples in the basket were dry and hollow inside, clearly from out of season stock and had been in storage for a long time. Food in executive lounge lacks of varieties and changes. Often time the same foods were served for a week witbout changes. Recent launched Diamond membership are nothing more than a name - great in marketing but short in substances.

I stayed for 3 nights in January and had a lovely time. The hotel is what I would expect from a Sofitel, and the lounge was very comfortable. The staff working in the lounge were extremely helpful. They helped call the airline when my flight had been cancelled and were extremely attentive throughout the duration of my stay.
