There was no “wow” factor in my experience and walked away with an indifferent feeling. Will l stay at Sofitel Kunming again - probably not because your guests have certain expectations staying at Sofitel but your hotel didn’t provide that. No complaints about the room, house keeping and concierge service. Reception can be better organised (left hand doesn’t seem to know what right hand does) but special credit to Jessica Cui. F&B needs special attention. I pointed out to supervisor that beef sausages were labelled “fried chicken” and on another morning, pan- fried fish was labelled as snapper when it’s actually Barra! The bar hostess didn’t even know how to swipe the complimentary vouchers on the app and at first, only offered me and my wife a limited drinks (only non alcoholic). The food offered at Club Millesime lounge is very average and in my opinion, not befitting the Sofitel image. On the last day of my stay, l had some “cold starters” and by the time l was ready for hot food, only scattered leftovers available, so l didn’t eat. Sofitel Kunming can do better!

The labeling errors at breakfast, the service lapse at the bar with voucher redemption, and the quality and replenishment at Club Millesime are simply not acceptable. The receptionist Raven was extremely helpful and very pleasant . She is very knowledgeable and speaks very good English and took her time to answer all our questions and making recommendations. Another one is Rony at the concierge. He also spent quite a lengthy of his time helping us with our itinerary. Be our translator with the Didi driver. Speaks excellent English, too. One other concierge is a Y. guy, though he doesn’t speak English he was ever so helpful. These 3 people are your assets deserve a commendation.
