No sleep!

Don’t stay here if you want a good night sleep . Totally impossible even on a mid week Wednesday night stay due to loud music from the club next door, could literally hear every word of the songs being played until the early hours of the morning.

Staff are friendly and accommodating. The reception/lobby look somewhat haphazardly put together at first sight, but that's no indication for the rest of the hotel. The rooms and restaurant are excellent. Breakfast's really good with eggs, beans, bacon, sausages, haggis, fruit, croissants, etc. (But don't expect any fresh vegetables. ;-) ) The bathrooms are modern with good shower cabins and immediate hot water. Whilst the rooms have no safes, there are some safes in the luggage room that you can use (individually; there are about 10 available in total) and can be accessed any time by asking the staff. They also very helpfully lent me an adapter since I had forgotten to take into account UK sockets. Unfortunately, though, the hotel does not accept cash, which should have been stated on the website when booking. The location is fantastic on South Bridge, within short walking distance of great pubs and restaurants, the Royal Mile and the New Town (as well as Waverley Train Station and St. Andrew's Square, where the buses and trams from the Airport terminate) as well as several University buildings (which was relevant for me as I was attending a conference).

Good location but rooms could do with an update

Room was very small and lacked sockets These days I would except to be able to charge my phone close to the bed but the one socket was far away Disappointing compared to other hotels in similar price range Hotel layout was rather odd having to go downstairs and through the restaurant to get another lift up to our room
