Though we stayed only one night we really enjoyed a relaxing night during a weeklong road trip as a family. Definitely the most comfortable hotel. Very good location next to a shopping mall and close to the ring road and 'interstates'. Would love to stay again.

New and upclass international branded hotel. Spacious room with up-to-date facilities. Not centrally located but convenient to reach from airport, situated steps from a highway exit. Great value for money.

The Pullman Taiyuan is a nice hotel. The location is not the most convenient for the center of Taiyuan and rather far away from Shanxi University, but it is possible to get around quickly outside of rush hour. The rooms are very comfortable and the common parts of excellent. The breakfast buffet is nice, but a little odd. One day, I had some problems communicating that I wanted some "fried eggs". The next day "scrambled eggs" were not any easier. But all this got sorted out fairly quickly. The executive lounge is located on the top floor and has a nice view. Happy hour in the executive lounge is nice as well from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, but the lounge is strangely closed for the remainder of the day and you cannot even get yourself a coffee or some soft drinks. There is a sign that someone will come to the lounge during this time if specifically requested, but calling someone just to supervise a coffee seemed like a little too much of a fuss. My main complaint is that we were promised a significant discount in the restaurant, but were suddenly told - after we had eaten there and wanted to pay the bill - that there was no discount after all. We explained that they needed to honor the discount since we would not have eaten there without that promise, but nothing made a difference. In the end, a manager apologized and told us that there was nothing he could do about the dinner charges, but that he was going to credit us some extra membership points. Now the points for the stay have posted, but there are no bonus membership points. I have experienced this situation of unkept promises on several occasions in China, but this one was still really disappointing.

It is located close to highly developed residential high-rise. There is not much offering around the area. But it is quiet. I do wish there is a spa in their facility. Breakfast is OK, but it can be better.
