Hotel room very tired and in need of decoration - room 'smelt' odd when first entered. The chair upholstery was ripped Looked to be understaffed as breakfast items were missing and had to wait some time to find a member of staff to replenish glasses, milk and food items

We stayed for a wedding. The whole team were extremely helpful, kind and went out of their way to help out. We could not fault the team. The hotel is in need of some upgrading though as broken fan in bathroom and smell of mould. Chipped dressing table. The drinks menu and food menu is expensive for what it is. Maybe look at changing prices and menu to keep guests in the hotel and not disappearing to the nearby food outlets.

The staff at the hotel were great. The bar and dining area are well set out and pleasant to eat and drink in. However the rooms are date and could to with a complete overall.

Needs massive upgrading

Reception were really nice and very helpful especially the night staff. However the hotel lets itself down by the shocking rooms. Shower is outdated sinks rusting in places. Room furniture ripped and shabby, the bed uncomfortable likely an old mattress. Curtains old and needing cleaned. The room was freezing given the heating wasn’t working and for £99 that I paid it was simply absolutely shocking.

Location was good for our purpose. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was in need of an upgrade. There was only one chair for a 2 person stay, the floor from the bed to the bathroom was so creaky it was an embarrassment to walk on, I would not have wanted to be in the room below. The food on the new menu is excellent. Highly recommend the Thai Penang Vegetable Curry and the Slow Cooked Belly Pork.

Overall, felt cold everywhere in the hotel , including rest not very cosy, if you like that thing. Looks like it hasn't changed in 30 years since I last was there.

Smiles when greeted at reception, for dinner, bar area and breakfast certainly helps! i enjoyed staying here, my only negative thing is the pillows were too hard. but the staff smiling and food made up for this happy customer, im sure if working in the area again ill stay again.

Asked for a cot in the room, Arrived at about 7.30 with the baby who was ready for bed but no cot in the room. Took about 45 mins to get the cot to us, By this time very cranky baby! I then left as the room was for my Boss, She ended up not getting a wink of sleep due to the hotel being freezing. She had her pajamas, a robe, the covers, and then another robe over the covers and was still shaking. Such a shame as its in the perfect location for her and other board members to stay when coming to the warehouse but will have to stick with a hotel in Edinburgh instead!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel decor is run down and would benefit from a refresh. Chairs in bar area with rips. Chair in my room was ripped. Food in restaurant was nice. Prompt, friendly service. Breakfast choice was excellent. Choice of hot breakfast freshly made and served at your table. Pastries, fruit, meats, juices and selection of tea and coffee. Bedrooms have plenty of space. Very large comfortable bed. Powerful shower with products available.

Lovely people, very tired premises.

The people were lovely, so friendly and welcoming. The hotel was lovely downstairs but the rooms were in need of work. The floor in my 2nd floor room creaked terribly, I felt sorry for the people in the room below. Very little hot water, I was boiling water in the kettle to make it warm enough for a bath.

Some of the staff were rude to some and not to others. Place needs updating and is not that clean. The outside looks filthy and run down.

Needs updating rooms a bit shabby. Pool was closed, second time this has happened when visiting. Diss appointed unable to have a morning swim. There were no sanitary disposal bags in the bathroom but toiletries were handy.

Very tired and poor hotel for the money

Very tired and poor hotel, charged £150 per night and the hotel should be a maximum of £65 per night. Rooms very tired and basic, chips out of bath, quality of even the toilet paper poor, no plug sockets near bed area for charging phones. No iron in the room or ironing board and to top it off I just wanted to make a bacon sandwich for breakfast and was provided with 2 rashers of bacon, asked for a third as I didn’t want any of the other offerings, and was told I could not have another rasher of bacon (beer in mind I paid £150 for this room corporate rate) and was shown a sign stating maximum or 2 items! I didn’t want any of the other items, very inflexible and not very good customer service.

A very dated hotel needs an update. Great to have a sit down breakfast but very small portions my college counted 8 beans in a small tub and I had to ask for 2 rounds of toast as they were going to give me 1. when I asked for a grilled tomato I got half of one. I think they need to think about what someone wants for breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay had our dinner there it was great however the breakfast was disappointing the eggs were really hard couldn’t eat it it certainly wasn’t fresh been sitting to long.the hotel could do with a refurbish.
