Great bed! Great sleep! Great smelling toiletries! Great location! Friendly helpful staff! Great price! Lots of free car parking in huge car park Lovely welcoming staff and room had a really HUGE comfy bed with good pillows & duvet Yes the rooms and corridors could do with a refurb but I’m sure that’s in the pipeline. Foyer area looked recently refurbished. We walked from the shopping centre to hotel took about 10 mins. Didn’t dine at hotel. All in all I’d stay again.

Hotel is tired and staff need traning

Room was okay but would like to have 2 chairs. Our dining experience on our second night was not good. As there was a coach party obviously having a party dinner. At 5.10pm I went and asked the best time for us to order dinner. Was told now before they would be busy between at 6 to 7 or after 7pm. I picked up a menu and ordered 2 main meals at 5.15 by 5.50 we still had no meal, when I went to asked where our food was the manager shrugged his shoulders and the young lad headed off to the kitchen. After another wait of half an hour we finally got our food. Meantime the manager appeared giving an excuse of a technical hitch between the office and the kitchen which he he had now rectified and offered us a free drink, which we declined. What the office had to do with it I couldn’t understand as the order went to the kitchen. Barman didn’t know that Martell was brandy.

We use Mercure every year to do Xmas shopping and are always made welcome on entry and rooms really cosy. Breakfast excellent and plenty choice on offer.
