Check-in was fast, friendly and efficient. Room was on the fourth floor, number 400. Comfortable bed, quiet and everything worked. Carpet could do with replacing. Storage limited, I had to move the ironing board from the wardrobe. I was awoken each morning at 6ish by some machinery outside my window mounted on the roof I think? Windows were semi-opaque/translucent, I would personally have preferred glass, even if the view wasn’t great! Breakfast- the first day I came down at 8ish, the breakfast room was full so I had to eat it in the bar on an unsuitable table. Other days I came down earlier and it was better. Food good but bacon could have been a little warmer for my taste. Service good but plates taken away with cutlery so I had to ask for a toast knife. Would have appreciated better quality bread, unsliced perhaps? Lunch was good in the bar, had it there a couple of times, although service could have been a bit quicker in terms of paying the bill as we were on a tight timetable, and perhaps more geared up to conference goers’ requirements of paying individually with VAT receipts for each of us. This is required for our auditors and HMRC. I am our district’s co-treasurer so am mindful of such matters! It was good that you were able to store our luggage for us until the end of conference. Unfortunately I had misplaced my luggage ticket. I was able to describe it to the staff member sufficiently well for her to locate it, but I was then asked for my room number, not sure why that was necessary? I have an ADHD/ASD diagnosis, perhaps when I travel next I’ll wear my sunflower lanyard which should make navigating such situations less stressful for everyone! And on that note, it was good to see a young woman with a sunflower lanyard working on the breakfast team, the first time I went for breakfast, which is always a difficult one for me in a hotel I haven’t visited before, I didn’t know how to react to her because it was different from my previous experiences at hotels, she took my room number, said thank you and that was it. So she became perhaps a little flustered at my standing wordlessly waiting for further instructions/conversations etc. But the next day I was prepared and as stated above the breakfast room was much quieter.

Stayed for 4 nights, room was in the Mews with an internal basic view. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Good towels. Excellent customer service and fabulous breakfast. Nice bar atmosphere and great outdoor seating area.
