Good checkin, and very hospitable staff. Room was decent size with small balcony. Bed comfortable - but pillows were dreadful. Lounge area of hotel very comfortable. Breakfast was dreadful - very poor quality, although staff serving were very nice. Overall - a mixed report!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice clean with nice bed It would have been nice to have a few more normal sachet of coffee and milk. Overall very nice.

Had to wait a while to check in and out as no one on reception. Lounge bar was empty and had no atmosphere, not even any music on so we sat in silence. The bed was comfy but our 'Superior room' looked nothing like the pictures and was quite small and dingy. Was not particularly clean, the floors were dirty and we walked into the bathroom to find shower gel leaking all over the side. Glass top table in room was broken, mini fridge broken, shower was weak, aircon rattled loudly. All the little details that should have made it 'Superior' were just not there. Breakfast staff were all lovely but the food itself was poor tasteless and very greasy. Will not be returning.

The room (upgraded) thank you , was great , all be it a little cold we had to request a heater. The dinner was very tasty , I got over the size of the beef as the potato dish was very nice but surely at the price paid you could afford to put on a medley of vegetables, two small sprigs of broccoli or two green beans all that anyone received was a bit disappointing !

Our first experience of staying at a mercure hotel was nothing more than average. Upon arrival, the staff were very helpful and efficient. Our room was clean but was showing signs of a hard life. Our hospitality tray was hidden in the bottom of the wardrobe, and when we put it on the table to use, it left little room for anything else. Breakfast was tasty with a good choice of cereals /juices/cooked items but the coffee was stewed and too strong.

Pleasant stay unfortunately disturbed by other guests

The booking / confirmation process was tricky. Having made a reservation, I was then emailed an offer that was 30% saving if I paid in advance. I took up the offer but this was not reflected inn the emails I received prior to arrival. It took a long phonecall with the hotel to confirm the details of the reservation. Upon arrival the check-in was smooth and the staff were very helpful. The room was well appointed and comfortable. I did note that the bathroom bin had not been emptied from the previous guest - a little disappointing. All was well until 3.30am when a group of other guests were arguing very loudly almost outside my door. I really did not manage to sleep well after that. Such a shame.

Everything was very good, and the staff helpful. Heating in room 200 was not good and the AC heater did not work however the staff got me a radiator. Food was excellent and we enjoyed ourselves. The Christmas evening dinner was a bit disappointing compared to the Boxing Day evening dinner. I would come back again.

Lovely hotel and despite Christmas rush all staff did their best. Our room was on the main floor and the central heating could not cope with the cold we were given an extra heater immediately. One small issue - the plug in the hand wash basin did not work properly and water took too long to drain.

Very chaotic. Staff friendly and tried but didn’t really know what to do. No-one to greet us/show us table. Didn’t get food as described. We asked for wine list - never arrived. When it was pointed out that certain things were missing from stated menu, staff unable to help. Too many people packed in - was not the special day we thought it would be.

We had a 2 night Christmas package. Food, drink and hospitality service was excellent. Tithe bar for Xmas lunch was lovely. Little extras like welcome cocktails much appreciated. However, room and housekeeping were less impressive. Toilet was very dirty and hadn't been cleaned when we arrived in our room although the rest of the bathroom had been cleaned (very off putting). The room needed more thorough cleaning - under furniture, in corners etc. We chose not to have room cleaned on Christmas Day to help cleaners and were given a pack with clean towels, water etc but no teas, coffees and milks. Reception didn't keep supplies which is unusual in our experience.

Reasonably comfortable with excellent food/The welcome tray provided in the room was hard to find and somewhat lacking My feeling was that the mattress is due for renewal. No welcome feel about the room.
