We returned as I remembered the name, but not the review. The front looks a little smarter, as does the lobby area. We couldn’t get in through the carpark door however, and we were told the maintenance need to fix it. I didn’t book a privilege room, and don’t feel that we missed anything by being in possibly a “lower grade” room. It was identical to the room on the third floor. We had a wonderful sea view, 2 big windows and a large bathroom. The decor is still great in the room, and the cleanliness is also very good. Bathroom toiletries smell lovely and there’s a nespresso machine with 4 pods (and some teabags etc) My gripe is the lack of service. We were out all day and got back at 5pm, hoping for a shower before dinner. The room hadn’t been serviced. A call down to the desk and the lady arrived, so I was pleased it was sorted out, but it would have been nice for that to have happened without the need to call.

I visited this hotel for a very short holiday in Brighton, I liked the antique and special interior, and I enjoyed fish and chips at the restaurant, so I stayed for a very happy day.

Great Location..Nice room but lobby under renovation.. the hotel should mention this while taking the booking that the Lobby is Non operational and under renovation. Staff was regid with check out time even on a wednesday..

Hi there. I don't want this publishing as I think you can address these issues without me telling them to the world. The reception staff were really lovely at all times and made me feel extremely welcome. That was the best bit. Upon arrival in my room I found faeces on the toilet seat and hair in the sink. The pillows were so incredibly uncomfortable that I struggled to sleep at all and ended up with a stiff neck which has only just subsided. I travel a lot for work and have done so for around 25 years and these were definitely some of the lowest rung pillows I have encountered. I don't think I'm especially fussy about things like this but when it affects my wellbeing for many days after the event, then I do think its worth mentioning. The breakfast was extremely lackluster. Many items looked barely cooked and the fruit in the fruit bowl looked like it had been there a very long time. The dining staff were also mildly overzealous, patrolling up and down constantly and whisking away any plates or cutlery that I wasn't paying intense attention to without asking if I was done. It really didn't feel like a calm or inviting environment. Finally, I asked for a late checkout, at 12 instead of 11. Whilst I understand that this might not be possible, I found it to be at best objectionable that I was asked for a £10 late checkout fee. Why? Again, I have stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world for many many years and I have had a lot of late checkouts, but I've also never been asked for a fee to enable this. At the end of an already unsatisfactory stay, it simply left a further bad taste in my mouth. Please take the above as constructive criticism. I do not run a hotel, not do I wish to, however I feel that all my concerns are reasonable and avoidable. I'm afraid I'll definitely be asking my employers to house me elsewhere next time I'm in Brighton. Best wishes Benny R.

We strive to balance attentiveness with guest comfort, and it’s clear we missed the mark in both food presentation and service approach that morning. Your observations will be shared with our breakfast team for improvement. On the matter of the late checkout fee — while we do apply a standard £10 charge to cover operational scheduling, I completely understand how, given your overall experience, this may have felt excessive. I have taken note of your perspective, and I will review this policy further with our team to ensure it is applied more thoughtfully moving forward. Lastly, I want to sincerely thank you for highlighting the warmth and welcome provided by our reception team. I will be sure to pass your kind words on to them — they will be very grateful.
