Had a bit of confusion prior to our arrival at the hotel, our room was booked on the 7th, but the booking confirmation i received was for the 2nd, it took a few phone calls to get a correct booking confirmation sent over, but they were more than helpful. The hotel was lovely, clean, comfortable and querky. excellent location, straight out onto the seafront, a 2 min walk to the i360 and a short walk to the pier. Thank you for a lovely stay

My room was very small even for 1 person at the double room price. The breakfast was not ready at 7.30 on both Saturday and Sunday which was inconvenient as I had to make early starts. Also missed biscuits in room

We stayed for one night. The reception and bar area was pleasant and had obviously had a refurb, but the communal areas like the hallway and the toilets were very shabby and substandard. Our room was nice, clean, modern and roomy, however we had a very bad nights sleep as the room temperature was either too hot or freezing cold. There was a storm saturday night and the windows did not stop shaking. The restaurant for dinner was also very nice and we had a nice meal. Breakfast was awful. Completely awful. A soulless, windowless room with the tables not set properly. The hot and cold buffet was not replenished in a timely fashion and a bit of a mess. I have never had such a bad breakfast in a hotel. Based on the breakfast alone, I would not visit again or recommend this hotel. A real shame as the staff were excellent in all areas.

Reception is nicely decorated and bar has a great view and nice welcoming space. Hotel is well located. Room 156 smells of mildew and the extractors at the back of the building are quite noisy. More staff are required at breakfast service to ensure food/plates etc are all topped up.

One night stay for a graduation ceremony, bedroom was small but well planned and had everything required. Booked a privilege room but take note that the ‘free’ newspaper is a digital one. Bar at the front is lovely and spent time there looking out to sea. A great place to meet people. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was buffet style and adequate for the price. Paid to park the car overnight. If staying longer would probably upgrade to a sea view room.

One night stay with boyfriend. One dressing gown, only decaffeinated coffee in supply, lime scale and dirty shower screen cover. Pillows were comfortable.

From start to finish excellent - we parked at hotel and our room was ready early . Reception staff very efficient and friendly. The hotels decor is boutique and interesting . Our privilege room with sea view was fabulous - the decor , bedding , furnishings - excellent. The restaurant staff for dinner attentive . Breakfast was satisfactory with attentive staff. We would definitely stay again .

We stayed overnight and everything was fine. I am not very experienced with booking by internet though and was alarmed when charged nearly another hundred pounds over the advertised price when it came to paying. I felt this was a fault with the booking company though and not the hotel. It was a relief to find that the booking had really been made and stuff hadn't just disappeared into the ether. I'm filling the next item in because I can't move on without but think site was called Getaroom. It was just early on menu when I went to book

Check in lady was brilliant. Beautiful room, good night sleep. Could stay for breakfast but it looked and smelt lovely. Mercure always delivers. Tried to save a few quid booking another hotel - what a mistake. Made this booking 30 minutes after asking for a refund at that hotel

Overall enjoyed our break. Would have liked more selection of food for room service. Would have liked the waiters to remove our plates at breakfast instead of just clearing the table when we left.

Hotel is well situated close to town centre, staffs at the reception displayed an excellent customer care services, amazingly bar is open 24hours to residents... comfy beds and many more I was so excited and couldn’t remember... will definitely come back

Lovely last minute stay here. First time to Brighton. Lovely dinner with friendly helpful waiter who we couldn't fault . Lovely breakfast , spacious room and view overlooking the sea. Only negative was that the water from shower even though was on hottest setting was barely warm so not the best after a January cold walk getting ready for dinner. This was the same also for other family members too .
