Great room, great service in both the bar and restaurant. Unfortunately tarnished by the behaviour of the neighbouring room who played their music loud until 1:45 am and were then very aggressive and abusive towards the member of the mecure team who asked them to be considerate towards the other guests.

I have to start by saying that the bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful and that the communal spaces were decorated well. Unfortunately that is where any praise for this hotel stops. I was checked into room 152 which was located to the rear of the hotel. The room had no net curtains with a view of the bins and neighbouring residential properties. These bins were filled with glass from the bar late at night and emptied early in the morning by a waste collection company so do not expect to get an uninterrupted 8 hours sleep. The carpet was riddled with stains and marks from previous guests. The shower door only opened inward so you could not turn the shower on without standing in the bath meaning you are going to get sprayed with cold water every time you wish to use it. The sealant around the bath and shower door were also covered in mold and an existing or previous leak has damaged the floor outside the bathroom floor so badly that you feel as though you will disappear through it if you dare to stand on or near it (like the Tom Hanks scene in money pit). There were slippers but no robes and the car park is very small, very tight and with a very limited number of spaces charged at around £28 per day. I escaped to the restaurant on the first night and as stated received excellent service and good quality food which I enjoyed whilst looking out at the car park full of scrap vehicles stored out front of the neighbouring building. I know that if I had visited reception the staff would have probably addressed the issues or moved me but to be honest I just expect for these things to be up to standard on the first attempt. I cannot believe that anyone working there would be happy to pay for the room I stayed in and I imagine that given the general neglect it would not just be mine. I travel a lot for work and can safely say that I would never stay here again. It’s not as though there is a shortage of hotels in the area. I guess I expected for them to be making more of be making more of an effort to win repeat business.
