Sadly a little bit disappointed we booked the superior room and outside our room on arrival was empty beer bottles and dinner plates with uneaten food from previous guests this was after 1500hrs.the wc cistern and pan were loose on the floor,The flooring ie plinth was an issue with getting in and out of the bath and my wife hurt her foot on a very sharp corner,reception was told about this.There was no bottled water in the room which I thought is normal in most hotels.and lastly the balcony was filthy,dirty chairs no table umbrella?? And sewerage leaking onto the balcony from broken pipes not healthy I must say.Breakfast wasn’t very edible I couldn’t eat my scrambled egg it looked like it had been scraped from the bottom of the tray,shame because mercure hotel breakfasts are normaly the highlight of the day.

Check in was good. We were offered a room on the 2nd floor initially but the lift was not working and it was too difficult to carry cases up stairs so we had a room on the first floor. It was cosy but clean and bright. View of a flat roof with pidgeon poop was not pleasant outside our window

Room very stuffy - we tried to open the window but generator was very noisy. Our neighbours in next room were very noisy. The main lobby very impressive but rooms at back very overpriced for what you get.

Checking in was fine - throughout our stay staff were polite and friendly. The location was good and close to the beach and other amenities. Our room was a “privilege room” but was very run down and scruffy. The bed had holes in and was very creaky, waking me up when turning in my sleep. The window didn’t close which was a security risk, it was so mouldy it didn’t shut. There was an iron burn on the floor. The air con was loud and dripped directly on to the TV - safety concern. The bed was small considering it was a privilege room. ONE PLUG is not enough for two people with multiple devices and appliances. The vegan breakfast was missing sausages on the second day - so did we eat non vegan sausages on the first day?

Hotel has been updated since our last visit, it’s very nice and very clean. Staff were great, very efficient and friendly. It is a little bit of a walk from the shops and pier, not a problem for us but could be for anyone with less mobility. Parking is very expensive, we parked in another car park a short walk away and saved over £25

The Mecure hotel is ideally located right on the beach front within walking distance of the amenities. All the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms had air-con which was a saviour in the hot weather, also tea, coffee and water. The bed and the pillow were possibly the most comfortable I had come across in a hotel. A choice of cooked breakfast or continental, with a good menu for evening. A small car park in front of the hotel with some extra parking around the back, first come first served. We were lucky. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely use this hotel again. I would suggest a walk around the lanes and a visit to Browns restaurant.

Excellent service , very helpful staff and rooms very clean A very good place to stay plenty off bars and the main shopping street is 5 min away good restaurants very close as well . Only problem is parking is very very expensive all around Brighton and it’s all so a added cost on your hotel stay were ever you stay so I would come on the train your enjoy it more

Room very nice. Had free drink under Accor programme - undrinkable house wine the only alcoholic option - not what is expected. Chablis extortionately priced and served with ice as it was warm ! £25 per night to use hotel car park - disgraceful.

On arrival our room was not ready, but when allocated it was nothing like the room on the web listing. The Classic room on the listing was modern, spacious, had a walk in shower and Illy coffee machine. Our room was small, pokey and had neither the walk in shower or Illy coffee machine. The room was large enough for one person and dated. I had to ask reception for some toilet roll and told the lady on reception that it wasn,t the room on the web page and didn't have the coffee machine. She said it was a Classic room and they don't have coffee machines. I showed her the listing and she just said I will tell my manager because that is wrong. The restaurant was not open and the bar was pretty poor. Apart from the reception area the rest of the hotel was pretty tired. If I had known this beforehand I would not have booked this hotel.

We booked sea view room and had fabulous weather, so was justified. However, thought we woke to a sea mist, but this was due to the windows needing a clean! It was 2nd floor, so possibly a problem. Hotel had lovely character. Due to Covid, our room was not made up. Not an issue, except we ran out of bathroom items very quickly. Would have been nice if they told us when checking in, or left double amount in the room. Position is a slow 25 minute walk from the station and right by the BA tower, which was excellent for us. Room was small and did not have any drawers, so could be an issue for longer stays, but was comfortable and we slept well. Lovely walk-in shower, but water was slow to drain. Overall enjoyed our stay and would return.

The staff throughout our stay were very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and perfect for a night in Brighton. I would have loved to spend time in the hotel's bar but understandably it is currently closed. Luckily though the hotel is just a short stroll away from everything Brighton has to offer.

Having stayed at other Mercure hotels elsewhere and enjoyed the experience, frankly I will not be staying again. The room was small, basic with no draw space whatsoever for clothes. I asked for another bigger room with a bath, none was forthcoming - a seafront upgrade was offered at an extra £40 a night. I didn’t actually care about the view, just a comfortable room. There was a leak from the bathroom basin which came out to the ‘hall’ which was bubbling the wallpaper and seeping out onto the carpet. Outside the common space to the rooms beyond the entrance was in need of maintenance with common parts dirty. The breakfasts were very basic indeed and a very low standard. The only saving grace was the breakfast staff who were very obliging and courteous within the constraints they were functioning. All round a very poor low quality experience which I will not be repeating.
