Hi, I have already sent a separate complaint that I was notified would be sent to you to respond. The fact that I am briefly duplicating that email is indicative of the IT chaos that appears to reign at Mercury. In essence, it took me half an hour to book in on the day as the guaranteed booking email I had seemed to be totally at odds with your system. The staff were apologetic but still kept seeking to charge me substantially more than my booking price on the day until a more senior receptionist finally accepted the details in my booking reference. I also had to revisit reception again the same evening to insist on the extra bed which was clearly noted on my booking but was not recorded on the system and for which it was sought further payment. As a greeting experience it was humiliating for my family to have to wait that time in the lobby after a long journey from Bristol, and hardly made us feel like valued clients. The hotel itself was otherwise to our satisfaction Regards

Altho the hotel was a fab location little things left a lot to be desired such as poor tiling in bathroom lights not working in bedroom and bathroom missing draw in bedroom and unsavory balcony that was in desperate need of a paint and general fixing

With my 3 kids over new year, we needed support twice from the hotel team. First up we had noisy neighbours in a large group at a function, new room provided for sleepy kids. And even better on the final morning, a sudden injury to dad meant that the kids enjoyed a rota of helpers to get through breakfast and load the car. Perfect!

I stayed at your mercure hotel last night and wasn’t pleased with my visit. I paid through groupon for a standard double room with breakfast. When I arrived I was told I would be in a ‘studio’ room which was heavily outdated and cold. When I visited the restaurant I was told half of the items on the menu weren’t available and even though the table next to us received free drinks for the inconvenience we didn’t get anything as we didn’t complain. In the morning I was awoken by the smoke alarm which lasted 30 minutes. I tried to use the phone to question it but it didn’t work and there was no staff notice as to why it was happening so I wasn’t happy with this at all. The ‘hot’ breakfast was cold and the portion sizes for both the breakfast and dinner were ridiculous.

Overall the cleanliness and general state of the hotel rooms and facilities were poor. Had to change room due to the level of dust. Staff was very apologetic and did their best to help.

Comfortable, good sized room. Loved the balcony overlooking the gardens at the rear of the hotel. Just found the pillows to be a bit too firm but otherwise a pleasant stay. Used the swimming pool once but as there are no lifts down it's not easily accessible for someone using crutches. Also vertical steps into pool so again access would be difficult for someone with mobility difficulties. It's lovely having access straight into Golden Acre Country Park which is well worth a visit.

4 of us stayed for 2 nights, very modern rooms beautiful balcony overlooking woodland, fabulous steam room, swimming pool, super breakfast piping hot and good quality food, was a little apprehensive reading negative reviews but as usual you can find negativity all too easy nowadays. All in all for the money we paid it was amazing value, the hotel was very well heated at all times. Super friendly staff, fabulous reception lady. See you in the new year.

The reason for such a poor rating was nothing to do with the staff who were dealing with an almost impossible task when the computer program crashed and wiped the information regarding the allocation of rooms. The hotel needs some updating painting and decorating and the carpets need attantion in places. We eventually got a room but people had been given rooms already allocated to others and were already occupied. We were staying for 3 nights on night 2 we came back to find our belongings had been taken from our room and stored as the computer only had us down for 1 night there was pandamonium going on at reception again when I had to go and demand our luggage back so we could change and go out for a show that evening. Night 3 we got to our room ti find our keycards didn't work that was soon remidied however. Finally our breakfast was not very warm which added to our weekend of disasters with the hotel.

Unfortunately we did had a strange issue with the system crashing. which was completely out of our control though we do have a good support system but it took little while to come in the action. I am deeply sorry about it and we have taken all precautionary measure to control any future occurrence of similar incident. Booked a romantic night away as I’d built up lots of Accor points. Couldn’t check in for 2 hours due to system / room check issues - but was treated to free drinks. Tried to settle part of my room and meal with Accor points ( as advertised) but system said no and still a real challenge . The staff though were fantastic and could not do anything more. Lovely food. Very relaxing. Hotel lovely.

I imagine that Mercure have recently taken this place over? It certainly needs a bit of ALL magic. Other parts of the hotel may be fine but my room was cold; the windows would not close properly and the walls are very thin so lots of noise from neighbours making an early start at 0400. Some signs of mildew in the bathroom. Not impossibly bad, but very tired. Staff were extremely good though at Reception, the bar and from the kitchen. Could be a really good place to stay in Leeds with good refurbishment.

Nice hotel on the outskirts of north Leeds, good access to the city and out to the country. Room was a good size as was the bath room but the decor and furniture is a little tired and some of the paint work was poor. Bed was fine, breakfast ok , a little slow at restocking the buffet . Staff all very helpful
