The staff were friendly, the breakfast was nice, the bed linen was clean. The room was tired and dirty. The bathroom door didn’t close, there was a massive crack in the sink and the shower flooded the room as the screen seals were nonexistent. There were nasty looking stains on the carpet, holes in the curtains the tea making spoons were filthy (like someone had used them to eat chocolate mousse). The corridors stank of weed.

However, we’re very sorry to learn about the condition of your room and the issues you experienced during your stay. What you’ve described is certainly not the standard we aim to provide. We are addressing these matters with our housekeeping and maintenance teams as a priority to ensure they are properly resolved. The hotel and facilities are very good, food in the restaurant very tasty, rooms as expected, however I was overcharged for my stay, I requested a refund which was agreed, however 2 weeks later I am still waiting for the refund to my account, after several phone calls, still waiting, I was also overcharged at the bar, this refund was made quickly and was back in my account the same day, which is what I would expect.

The carpet was filthy, and there was a thick layer of dust on many surfaces. There were multiple stains all over the carpet and the sofa. Some stains were visibly older than others. Multiple stains looked very recent enough to seem they hadn’t even been attempted to be cleaned. It was disgusting to even take shoes off in the room. I checked in after 10pm so there was no excuse for the room to be in that state. I asked to be moved but was told there were no alternative rooms available. So my 13year old son and I were forced to spend the night in a room which made us feel extremely uncomfortable.

Check in was easy, paid for an evening meal. Meal was in correct for both myself and my partner. Steak was over half grissle and did not come with anything other than chips and a tomato. We paid an additional £25 after the meal for this, definitely not worth it! On check out, I looked at the receipt to find the payment taken was in fact £88 more than the booking.
