Non experience staff . No Aircon in room and told there is. Had to ask for replacement towels. Restaurant staff not capable of servicing ,apart from Saturday breakfast which was better. Friday night poor service ,poor food ,kept getting it wrong and meal was cold. Sunday morning breakfast was totally unacceptable. Lady did not have a clue. 5 tables walked out. We waited one hour. Then was told chef was going. We were very angry. Reported problem to reception who tried to help ,but advised they had just started. All not acceptable. We insist of a refund. For one night .

We’ve been under some very stressful circumstances of being stuck in Singapore and tried to get a refund in the first round last year. We have been desperate to try and come down but couldn’t. There was no understanding at the beginning and therefore lost our money and couldn’t make it down. As much I wanted to push for a refund again, I felt it was pointless with the outcome from the very first stage of emails.

Was a good place to stay. Aside from the AC not working which was unfortunate, the hotel made up for it by providing me with a fan. Good parking space and friendly staff.

The hotel staff was lovely but the building seems quite old. Extremely warm when you go up to the 2nd floor - appreciate this was a sunny few days however this is not a hotel I would like to stay in during the summer months as the building is not equipped to keep guests cool. The rooms are hot which meant for a restless sleep. No fans provided. Pillows are flat. Light was broken on arrival and had to wait to the next day for it to be fixed. Breakfast was not very nice, I asked for a sausage bap and received a sesame seed burger bun which was stale. Like I said staff was amazing, helpful and friendly but not sure I would stay here again or recommend it to anyone. It needs modernising

Very disappointed there was no air con/fans available during the heatwave. No water provided or fresh fruit. On top of this the hotel was so short staffed, we were left waiting a fairly long time to be served at times. We don’t blame the staff personally for this as we could see how hard they had to work, however as a company, knowing the number of guests that were booked there, they should have been more prepared.

Room was TOO HOT… No AC, no safe, no fridge, extractor fan never kicked-in, toilet flush out of order.

Thank you for a easy stay. The room was fine ... a bit tired but it is not expensive and what I expected. Unfortunately as a single female during such hot weather, I felt uneasy about sleeping with my windows open because it was on the ground floor and the windows do not have restrictors on them - I didn't feel safe to leave them open or to go out with my computer in the room with them open. This was a shame as you have no air con and it would have greatly improved my stay. I enjoyed 2 dinners and also had 2 breakfasts with you - breakfast one was ordered in a hurry and I couldn't eat it because the bread muffin for the eggs benedict was not toasted as promise on the menu and tasted horrible because of that. The kitchen were clearly oblivious to this requirement and not aware of the promise of toasting on the menu as it was beautifully buttered before the ham and eggs were plonked on the top. It made me laugh - something a real kitchen novice would do - but something surprising in a hotel ... other customers could have got cross. I just offer as feedback. :)

1. Quality of rooms: • The double room was of a good size, but I was expecting a small fridge and small safe in the room as this is often the case in most of Mercure Hotels • The cleanness throughout the hotel was not what I was expecting: dust everywhere, including tables and different corners in the restaurant. I have even taken some pictures of spiderwebs hanging in the ceiling in the main restaurant. • Staircases to the rooms do not smell good. 2. Services: • Receptionists were not friendly enough. They seemed dismissive or on defensive for any minor request. There is an urgent need for intercultural communication skills. • The staff in the bar (including a young black man and a lady with a foreign accent – sorry I didn’t ask for names) were outstanding: very polite, approachable and with an incredible sense of humour. • Customer relations: Craig was very helpful in everything. • The staff in the restaurant do their best but they seemed to overstretched: My friend entered the restaurant the restaurant for Breakfast with his daughter and was served after 58 minutes. Given my previous long waiting experience on the first day, I decided to ask for a simple breakfast: 3 grilled tomatoes, a boiled egg and mashrooms. I waited for 40 minutes and I decided to go to town for breakfast with my wife. • My daughter and her friends decided to wait until they were served after over an hour and as a result they checked out very late. I can assure that I have visited many countries and have been in every single EU member state for business and leisure. This visit to Mercure at Hatfield gave me the waste experience in many aspects. Advice: • It could be better to have a buffet breakfast, instead of wasting food that people order and leave before being served. • Reduce the number of people at the reception and increase staffing in the restaurant.

We travelled 4 hours away to come to Hatfield house battle proms. Although the room was adequate, some-one had clearly smoked in it before and it had not been aired. Breakfast was appalling, I have never seen anything like it - we sat down at 9.30am and by 10.45am we left as we still had not been served our breakfast - half an hour before left, we asked if it was possible for pastries instead of cooked meals but this still could not be done and so we left. It was the most disorganised situation I have ever experienced. I would never come back to this hotel or recommend it

But service received in the hotel was abysmally below par. Guests were not served breakfast and being made to wait over an hour for a coffee. Very little sincere apologies offered. It was quite disappointing.

Hotel is tired and awkwardly set out. Covid restrictions were still in place and legally required, but the hotel clearly felt that the signs were enough and they didn't need to even attempt to get guests to socially distance or use face masks - given how long, tight, airless and cramped the corridors are this felt quite unpleasant. The room had clearly had some recent paint, but felt a little tired. The bathroom particularly needed updating and fixing - there was more water coming out of the valve on the shower than either shower head! Had to ring down to get very basic parts of the room setup (second pillows and a spare toilet roll to keep the half-depleted one company!). Staff on reception dealt with this well and relatively quickly, but why on earth is something this simple not done at the room prep? I don't want to have to organise everything myself after I check in. Breakfast the next morning (Sunday) was a disaster. We felt very sorry for the overworked member of staff (and person coming off reception when she could to help her) as she tried to deal with a room full of hungry people. They were quite keen to tell us that the wedding party was in another room and they were taking all the attention - how nice, I'd always wanted to be a very unimportant person. Such a shame that the wedding party surprised you by actually wanting breakfast... We got half of our order after 45 minutes of waiting (so did better than some of the other groups there) and had a passable hot breakfast amongst the uncleared tables - not quite what we had ordered, but whatever. The bakery basket and toast never arrived at all and frankly the atmosphere wasn't great as you almost felt awkward that you had received something. None of this seems like it should be that difficult? We just wanted a breakfast! The staff were clearly trying hard and were quite pleasant, but the overall experience was pretty poor and I end up wondering if this is the welcome that I can expect from your chain - if it is I won't bother again!

Location was near and handy to the main A1. Bed wasn't comfortable at all. Service at reception was good, extra pillows offered etc. Explained that I had booked B&B and that breakfast service from 7.30 was to late for us but no refund was offered.

The room was nice, looked clean. However, it would have been a much better sleep if there were decent pillows. Both pillows were very flat and there was only one person, is there a pillow shortage. The breakfast in the morning was the worst breakfast we have ever had. It was definitely microwaved, the bacon was like cardboard. We asked for a bakery plater which there was none, we settled for toast instead which was burnt but still the best thing about the breakfast. We enjoyed the stay but we will be not having food again.

Well located, with helpful staff, but this is a tired looking hotel in need of renovation, especially when compared to other Mercure hotels. I was surprised at the stains around the edge of the bath and the ill fitting room door. I will stay somewhere else next time.

I was staying overnight while attending a wedding. The room was very comfortable and the staff were all very pleasant, particularly the guy who was covering the bar/reception and served breakfast in the morning
