As a quite regular user of this hotel, I was disappointed when our room wasn’t cleaned after asking reception before we went out for the day. We also found cobwebs, random hairs and dirt when we first got in our room. This was a shame as we had to phone for fresh towels the following morning.

Was only for one night as we had a day festival to go to only 15 mins away. Lady at the front desk was super helpful and quick, not sure I parked in the right place round the back but was free and there were spaces? The only downside was that the room wasn’t completely clean, corners of dust and hair but bed and bathroom were okay!

The walls and floors were dirty. Breakfast service does not exist.Public areas are poorly maintained. The elevators had a bad smell and parts held together by adhesive tape. Don´t use this hotel please.

Thank you for your review. We have not reopened breakfast fully yet and are working towards opening this in the upcoming weeks. Unfortunately some fixtures were awaiting replacement but were elements that required being there and the only way we could hold it was with the tape. The parts were delayed but I can now inform you they have arrived and been fitted. We are working on deep cleaning the public areas, but due to staff constraints I can openly admit it has been a difficult task but something that is improving daily.

The hotel is in serious need of a refurb. Mouldy food kicked under the bed and just left there. The 'double bed' is two singles pushed together Asked for extra pillows never arrived Bathroom smelt bad

Thank you for your review. We appreciate that the hotel is looking tired and in need of an update and we are working on this, unfortunately the pandemic has delayed this schedule. We will speak with our housekeeping team and remind them under the bed cleaning must be done daily.

The hotel is in desperate need of refurb. Our room was just awful, there was mouldy food kicked under the bed it must have been there a while because it was really mouldy. The bathroom smelt really bad. We asked for extra pillows because there was only two and they never came. A ‘double’ bed is two singles pushed together. There was a random man that kept walking around the hotel and he knocked on our door twice and said both times that he got the wrong room. Just really not a pleasant stay and probably won’t be coming back. The cleanliness is not up to scratch. There was a massive crack in the wall as well. The air con is rubbish, it’s put by the door and does not reach to the bed so the room got really hot being up on the fifth floor. Not a comfortable stay. Not worth what I paid! The only good thing about this hotel is the free wifi, it does work very well. Also when asking about parking the lady at the desk didn’t tell us that we would still have to pay for it if we took the chip coin to the hotel desk. She just said to us that they can validate it there for us and mentioned nothing about still having to pay. So on top of what I paid for the appalling room I then had to pay extra for parking which I thought was free- maybe I just didn’t understand but still needs to be mentioned that you actually have to pay!

Toilet paper in the toilet. Sink got stuck on first night. No place to get water. Window without safety lock in both rooms. Crap kettle, full of linescale. Only 1 towel for 2 people. Pillow cases missing!!!!

I arrived late evening after a long drive and was greeted by a lovely member of staff who made check in super quick and easy. Then I got to the room... there were suspicious stains on the woodwork and blind along with a tool left on the radiator. Thankfully the bed and bathroom were clean and it was only a stop over. I didn't mention the issues as it was late and I wanted to just settle down for the night as I had a long drive the next day. I was on the 5th floor and wasn't able to sleep until the party ended on the lower floor This hotel is ok if you are on a stop over but wouldn't stay here unless it was needed to stay over again. I would like to thank all the staff for being so lovely and friendly.

Quick check in however room not clean, toilet was dirty, floor was sticky and the staff obviously sweep the individual rooms out into the carpeted corridor which needed vacuuming- won’t be rushing back

The stay was okay, cleanliness could have been better and someone who worked there walked into our room after one quick knock, might aswell not have knocked if walked in that fast. Our checkout was 5pm so I would have thought they would have had a list of rooms occupied.

I Am An "ALL" Gold Card Member. Everything Was Fine. Room Clean. House Keeping Good. Staff Very Helpful and Friendly. Telephone In Room Rang Very Quietly and I Had Trouble Hearing The Call. No Clock In Room. T.V. Kept Timing Out. Only 1 Of 2 Lifts Working.

Room was clean and comfortable. Some of the public areas such as reception and lifts are showing signs of being tired, I’m aware it’s been a tough time for this industry however it could do with some care and attention.

Room disgusting pigeon poo on inside of window sill dirty walls some looked like splashes of blood the residents are all outside on pavement getting drunk and shouting the noise in the room next to me was so loud I had to go and complain in the middle of the night smell of weed beer bottles littered in the hall ways and to top it all my week old phone charger of £40 went missing…….. I want a full refund

Rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem. All our efforts are concentrated in preventing future occurrences. We have recently had a changeover in housekeeping staff and are suffering the impacts of this and are working towards getting this resolved. In relation to your comments regarding reporting to the council and police, the council removed certain acts which allows people to drink in a public place meaning the people you have mentioned are free to drink outside on the pavement and as it is not part of our property there is not much we can do about that, we do discourage the noise as much as possible and the police conduct regular visits through the town and do also discourage this. We do our best in a very difficult time we have faced as a business and I am extremely sorry that we fell short on offering you the service you should have had. Kindly accept the full compensation of your stay in the form of a credit refund of £106, which will be issued to your account within the next 3-5 working days, Please kindly confirm this can be refunded to card end 5412. I would like to reiterate our commitment to high quality standards, and I personally would like to make sure you will experience it during your next stay with us. Completely awful… no cleaning procedures, room dusty, sheets dirty, everything was just complete filth. Never booking Stevenage ibis or ibis in general again.

I'm not too worried about COVID but, if you're claiming to be taking it seriously, you should at least act the part. A brief electronic thermometer scan of the wrist is not reliable way to assess whether someone is running a temperature, especially if they have just come in from the cold. Like most hotels at the moment, it seems very hard to warm up a room, even when the a/c is turned up. When I arrived, the room was cold. I switched on the thermostat which said 28, but next morning it still hadn't reached 28, probably about 21C. More serious was the poor bathroom hygiene which I didn't notice till the next morning. There was dried excrement down the front (exterior) of the toilet bowl. It looked like it might have overflowed sometime in the past. To be fair, it wasn't particularly noticeable from the standing position, just when seated and looking between your legs. I cleaned some of it off with moistened toilet roll, but I confess I left the hardened-on remnants for someone else to tackle.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. It is a simple protocol, we choose the wrist as this is less likely to have been exposed to the cold air as much as the forehead, if someone is suffering with a temperature the cold air would not impact. We do try to turn the heating on prior to arrival to ensure the room is warmed up, if in any case this does not happen and the guest reports an issue our maintenance will generally check to see if there are any blockages in the air flow system which may prevent heat being released. We are sorry that you were faced with that and if you reported to reception this would have been rectified immediately, we take these issues very seriously and of course liaise with our housekeeping to prevent this. We hope that you will again return to see this is an exception to our normal practises.
