I booked for 2 nights, on the day i was told my booking was only for 1night, the voucher was a gift and was a family break for 2 nights, i was told the hotel was fully booked for our 2nd night. I was also told that your manager would call to discuss this on the Saturday, no call was received. I am not happy and will be complaining to buy a gift. I would like to add that your staff onsite were helpful and made our short stay pleasant.

Hotel needs updating, tired furniture and shower not powerful and drainage poor. My window also in my room 305 didn’t close fully so could hear noise from the motorway also the fridge light in the room stayed on so lit up the room at night.

The staff were friendly, courteous and professional. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was in the restaurant at breakfast. The condiments on our table were covered in dried egg stains and the floor under a wooden bar nearby had a thick layer of dust. It had obviously not been cleaned in a long time.

Advised restaurant only open 6pm until 8pm even though it was Bank Holiday Saturday. Booked a table for 7pm on arrival informed there would be a wait for food( even though only 8 other diners) We waited over an hour for fish and chips and a salad! The young man serving was also running the bar, he was very apologetic and polite but the hotel was obviously poorly staffed. Every time we passed reception there was a queue of guests complaining to staff who gave the impression of not really caring

I booked less than an hour before I needed the room. The price was the best available in the locality. The was adequate parking when I arrived. Check in was swift and polite. My room was fresh, clean and well maintained. The bathroom appeared very new and excellent quality. The bed was comfortable and the bedlinen felt good. I will happily stay again.

Poor check in. Waiting to be seen, followed by unfriendly but efficient check in. No silver status drinks voucher included with key card and when pointed out it was provided but in a brusque manner with no hint of apology for oversight Further when attempting to redeem the card neither bar staff nor, I think the same receptionist, who he went to query the terms with were aware of what it included- albeit his attitude was better. Training required. The room was nice- though carpet strangely ill fitting. Very clean

Where do we start? Extractors not working, also shower flooding in room., slow service on Thursday evening in restaurant waiter forgot our drinks, Friday Bank holiday evening No restaurant open that night we had to go out for evening meal which wasn’t planned, had to phone a cab as we had a drink beforehand attending a funeral (the reason we were staying at hotel) that day. Coffee machine at breakfast was not working on Saturday morning, six attempts at being fixed still no luck. Just wish we had looked at reviews beforehand on line. Still nothing done about anything. ,

we have stayed with you before and the rooms were very good as always but as i was travelling from Wales, our current rules on masks are different to that in England but when i asked at the hotel when checking on my booking, i was advised that it was Novatel policy that all staff would be wearing masks. But at breakfast, i had an issue, as only 1 of the 2 staff was wearing their masks - 1 all of the time but 1 did not wear it. I wore my mask to go in and out of breakfast and when i went up for food or drinks. This trip was my family's first trip out at all since the 1st lockdown in March 20, as my father was on the shielding list and we decided to do the same as a family. This trip was also the 1st time that we were going to see my sister since my father's funeral in Feb 21, as sadly he passed away during the lockdowns and unfortunately, he caught covid whilst in hospital, hence why we have been and still are very cautious Please can you maybe review the cctv of Saturday's breakfast and or confirm for me, by email, that your current policy is for all staff to wear masks. Also, for breakfast, it was a bit chaotic and previous stays have not been like this. The coffee machine broke down 3 or 4 times , there was a bit of a wait on the hot breakfast on certain items and when i asked for croissants, your staff did put 2 in the oven for me, which was great but i took it that this was 2 trays but it was the last 2 that you had - there were 3 of us wanting them so i went without and had toast instead - there were also other guests wanting croissants. Then you ran out of orange juice towards the end of breakfast. We came for breakfast at 9am. The 2 staff were really good at sorting out the issues that were directed at them but breakfast was busy so maybe 2 staff are not enough. Again, please can you look into this for me and let me have your comments on email.

We stayed for two nights. Upon the second day of the stay, I deliberately put the door sign out asking the room to be cleaned. We left at 9am and returned at 5pm, the room was left untouched. After breakfast I saw someone left a coffee cup on the side table by the ground floor lift area. Two days later it was still there, in fact more cups were left there and no one bothered to pick them up. I constantly saw lots of bags of rubbish being left in the hall way, but never saw any cleaning staff doing anything about it. It is just disgusting... decor is dated and carpets are dirty, it really shouldn’t be advertised as a 4 star hotel. At breakfast, things were being refilled very slowly. Had to ask for the bread to be refilled, and they were refilling it at 4 pieces at a time at the toast station! Really!! Staff were trying, but with only two people working and there’s only so much they can do.

Cold running water, breakfast was very limited not much options to eat. Not enough juices available. Toilet without washing basin. You would have to enter the shower room to wash hands. Very unexpected how this hotel got 4* rating.

i have been at the Knebworth Novatel for over 3 months as an NHS essential worker - the staff have, despite difficult conditions and restrictions maintained a very high level of service and nothing is too much trouble. Very professional and my "sabbatical" has been comfortable and issue free - you would not know there were issues outside the hotel apart from the availability of services such as bar and restaurant - the breakfast is well presented and plentiful with a reasonable selection of cold offerings. one of the best appointed and managed hotels in the area - and I have stayed in a number over the passed 6 months. I would now always chose this hotel and will do going forward for my work requirements.
