The usual with a British hotel - old carpet, found hairs in the bedroom, bathroom and toilet not spotless as you would expect and to top it all up, staff were not friendly. Even when I made the attempt to greet when I passed through reception, they weren't in the mood. On a positive note, the hotel was nicely located, rooms had fridges, properly functioning aircon and comfortable beds.

Three night stay, very comfortable. Felt sorry for the manager as he was working very long hours due to staff shortages but he was very helpful and friendly. The receptionists were amazing despite some rude clients.

This is the first time I have used this hotel and the first time staying in an hotel since the opening of indoor hospitality. I was slightly nervous. I had no need to be so. From the welcome I received to departure, I was well looked after and felt safe and secure. I was very pleasantly surprised. Attention to detail was the name of the game. i would definitely stay here again.

Check in was OK. On arrival to my room there was no soap for handwashing, which is key to stopping the spead of COVID. Went back down to reception to be told that they should have given it to me on arrival. Poor practice and lack of detail to attention. I was in a third floor room. My room and many others that I could see from my window had NO window restrictors on. The mangers response to this was that some of the rooms had just had new windows put in!! Dont think that would stand up as an argument in court if someone had fallen out. Just shows that there is no oversight of Health & Safety requirements. Food came out of the kitchen uncovered which quite frankly was astounding! Just NO excuses for this.

This is the second time I have stayed at Novotel Stevenage, both times have been absolutely perfect! Lovely receptionists which offer everything you could need for your stay, well packed toiletries and hot drink powders. The room was very clean, nice and big with a comfortable bed. Clear instructions left to comply with COVID rules. Would recommend this hotel to everyone I know and I am looking forward to staying again!

Got into my room. Went to wash my hands and the sink didn’t drain. Thought to leave it whilst I jumped in the shower. Turned shower on and got undressed and realised the shower water wasn’t draining either. Waited 30mins and still the water hadn’t drained. Went to reception and I was moved to a different room. Had to have a quick shower there because the water was very slow draining meaning the shower tray almost flooded the floor. I went to sleep and then just before 6am was woken up by a huge wagon outside my window doings delivery for the hotel - loud banging and people shouting till around 630.

Well positioned, although staff a bit stretched at times.

Staff always very nice and really helpful when available. Sometimes they are not around as appear to be over stretched. Cleaning of room and change of towels needed to be prompted. Takeaway breakfast a bit bland. Only cornflakes appear to be available. Evening meals very good but you need to collect from restaurant and tricky to navigate closed corridor doors and door to room with tray in hand. Despite this would stay again.

This is the review that I've left on The more I've thought about things, the worse and angrier I feel about it. I really appreciate how difficult customers and individuals can be at times and it is no easier at the moment I know as I work with the public all the time. However people who come to hotels, b&b's etc have to be made aware that under no circumstances is it acceptable for people to wander around in public areas without face masks or shields unless they have medical conditions that make them exempt. If they are exempt they should have no problem displaying a proper lanyard so other paying guests are aware of that. There is NO excuse ! ------------------------------------------- Liked · The Cover-19 check-in and check-out protocols seemed to be well practised and the room was fine. I also enjoyed my food thank you. Disliked · As often is the case there were a couple of morons not following the rules and wandering around the hotel without any face protection. I queried it at reception and although the staff were apologetic and understanding of my concern, there seemed little that was going to be enforced. I queried that they appeared clearly not excempt and they certainly didn't have any indication with lanyards etc to show they were. About an hour later they reappeared changed out of there work clothes and still without any face covering near reception which again seemed to be ignored although to be fair to the receptionist she was rushed off of her feet and on the phone, so may not have seen them. She did a very good job checking people in when I arrived and was clear and precise with what needed to be done. I decided to order my evening meal and eat it in the room just in case there were more than 2 not following guidelines and the procedure here needs changing. A member of staff carries the tray from the kitchen and then leaves it on a table in the walkway between the reception and the outdoor patio just outside of the bar area and informs the receptionist of the room number. The receptionist then calls the room. So there's my food and drink (the starter had no covering) in an area where who knows how many people walk past in the time it takes me to come down the stairs and collect it ! If someone has carried it from the kitchen and into the 'collection area' which I saw happen, why then do they not continue and deliver it to the room ? No need to come inside, just knock and leave the food outside ? In my opinion if a hotel isn't able to enforce rules, it shouldn't be allowed to open as it is everyone that could potentially suffer in the long run. Guests and staff alike.

Dear Terry I was disappointed to read some of the comments on Trust your regarding your stay with us. I am pleased however that you found our reception procedures well practiced ,your bedroom fine and you enjoyed your dinner. You are correct, we are currently working with limited personnel and at times are "rushed off our feet" With regard to the gentleman not wearing masks, Reception had informed them it was necessary to do so and when obviously ignored passed the information to myself. I spoke to them personally and provided face masks from our own stock during the evening, however I thank you for bringing this to our attention. I also thank you for your constructive comments regarding our dinner procedures, my apologies your starter was not covered. Unfortunately we are unable to deliver to the bedrooms at present, however we have relocated the collection point to the restaurant which is currently closed to public use. I've stayed at this hotel many times in the past - the process for check in was slow though and not very obvious, if I'd been guided to the track and trace forms initially I could have got those completed whilst waiting to check in. Staff were as lovely as ever, attentive and helpful. Process for ordering dinner was a bit odd, and I didn't even get my breakfast as I stupidly assumed I'd get a call when it was ready to collect or it would be room service. One concern I did have was overall upkeep and cleanliness. The doors to the rooms when you exit the list were still battered and in need of a coat of paint - with lockdown I'd have assumed refreshing paintwork would have been a priority to make the place feel cleaner. Also in the bathroom, whilst most things were spotlessly clean the door frames had grubby marks down them where hands had been and there were mucky marks and small smears on the walls in the toilet area - it's like no one has even wiped down the walls and door frames, again seeming strange when there's been such a long period of time with limited guests.

I am active Diamond Accor holder and before Covid was regular customer of Notovtel Stevenage. Checked in and went to room to do remote working. Could not get access to EE mobile broadband. Went back to reception to request room change to room on 1st or 2nd floor overlooking front car park. No rooms available. So cancelled stay and booked another hotel :-(

i have been at the Knebworth Novatel for over 3 months as an NHS essential worker - the staff have, despite difficult conditions and restrictions maintained a very high level of service and nothing is too much trouble. Very professional and my "sabbatical" has been comfortable and issue free - you would not know there were issues outside the hotel apart from the availability of services such as bar and restaurant - the breakfast is well presented and plentiful with a reasonable selection of cold offerings. one of the best appointed and managed hotels in the area - and I have stayed in a number over the passed 6 months. I would now always chose this hotel and will do going forward for my work requirements.

Thus is a nice hotel with a great reception. The rooms are a bit tired. Paint on walls scuffed and stained, floors in rooms dirty, bathroom had limescale stains. Good WiFi, comfy bed, but duvet cover torn. Chair and sofa in room tatty. Good ammeneties, tea coffee soap etc. Rooms need TLC by staff asap .
