Hotel carpet is a bit dated but the hotel in general was very clean. We only spent one night and did not pay for breakfast so cannot comment on the food. There was ample parking. The checking in and out process was very straight forward.

Nice room, friendly service. Shame about a few things - tepid water so couldn't have a hot bath. No fresh milk to take to room for a cup of tea in the morning. Breakfast choice OK but somewhat limited eg cheap sliced white or brown bread, no choice of quality bread. Booking process - called directly twice to confirm booking. No email confirmation ever arrived.

Mid week stay, room ok some light bulbs out and stains. Very annoying emergency light above door. Toilet extractor not working. Meal in restaurant. Reg fries arrived not sweet potatoes. Custard on desert not ice cream as requested. Staff appearance poor with food being delivered by waiter in outside jacket, felt like a deliveroo driver.

It’s a Novotel so you know what you will getting in the room. Breakfast is back to normal. Evening meal is a limited menu but that seems to be the norm everywhere.

Room was cold, bar was cold, had to request the bar to go out and bar tonic for our gin&Tonic at 4pm on a Saturday, prior to a big 60th party. Tried to order sandwich on arrival, but had no tomatoes for Ham or cheese sandwich.

Shower was cold Not a good selection of food on Saturday night when we needed a meal when the meal came it was cold Room above was incredibly noisy we complained nothing was done we did not sleep at all when we spoke to the manager he was not at all helpful and called me a liar for saying we did not sleep Toilet seat badly stained no response to our complaint until we had left the hotel Such a shame as overall the hotel looks the part Think the manager needs to go back to manager school

Friendly and helpful staff, if not a little thin on the ground. Communal areas spacious and clean. Perhaps a little dated. Room modern. Shower room and toilet modern and clean. Carpet in room badly stretched and rucked up. Tripping hazard. Breakfast first morning. No milk. Staff advised that there had been no milk for four days. In current climate of supply chain issues one day would have been annoying but understandable, but for a hotel not to have milk for four days is absolutely ridiculous. Hang you heads in shame management…ever heard of Sainsburys or Tesco? If I had been advised, at check-in the evening before, that there may be no milk for breakfast, I would have sourced a pint for myself.

Already sent feedback directly, but no response from hotel so far.... 2 days in a row the coffee machine was broken and there was no fresh milk. How on earth can this be possible? It is not that you couldn't have gone to a local shop nearby. The breakfast offering and service was the worst we have experienced in any Novotel, in fact in any Accor hotel we have stayed in. I listed plenty of other things that were wrong - it was such a poor experience, I cannot imagine bothering to continue with my Accor loyalty unless you refund the cost of the breakfasts. The only positive was that the room was comfortable, warm and clean - though judging by TripAdvisor comments, it seems we were lucky there. With the Mercure in Farnham this hotel brings the Accor brand into disrepute. We stayed in Stevenage to visit family - on our next visit there is no chance of us staying there again.

Great staff but not enough of them

Came to Novotel for a reunion dinner. Sadly only one person behind the bar for long periods of the evening which meant going for drinks could take 30 minutes. The staff themselves were excellent but when you have people sending out substitutes to replace people in the bar queue for they can eat their food whilst it's still warm it does take the edge off the evening.

We have often stayed at Novotel Stevenage and always enjoyed our visits. This visit was no different. However we were disappointed at breakfast. My husband and I have mobility issues and both require sticks to move around. It is very difficult to carry plates of food from the buffet to our table. No one noticed this and we were not offered any assistance. We feel that staff should be trained to be aware of such issues and offer help. The restaurant was not busy at the time. Apart from this our visit was most pleasant and the reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

Very comfortable room, warm hotel, lots of Covid measures in place. BUT not enough staff on the bar, queue to check out (there wasn't anybody at all on reception as the staff were all in the breakfast room dealing with the queues there) and although I am a Platinum member this seems to bring no benefits at all at this hotel - if indeed they operate the ALL scheme at all. It is a good hotel but it is clearly short of staff and short of well-trained staff too (albeit they are all very friendly and polite); doubtless these are difficulties caused by the problems of the past 18 months but nevertheless, it isn't the service that ALL/Accor/Novotel proclaims.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip (not for the first time). The Good: Easy parking and well located for the motorway. The staff I met were all helpful and friendly (not the chefs!). Wifi was good in my room. The Bad: Short restaurant hours and when I arrived at the bar at exactly 2046 in the evening I was told the kitchen had closed exactly a minute earlier. I asked if there was anything the chef could make / heat that was quick but the response was 'Kitchen is closed'. This lack of flexibility does not encourage me to return despite being a loyal ALL Accor Diamond member. The Ugly: The Novotel Stevenage is renowned as having the worst mattresses of all the local hotels (which is why most of us use the Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express or Premier Inn in Stevenage) BUT my mattress was like a bag of bones. No mattress protector, padding or the like, just a surface like the Alps that for most people would be unacceptable (yup - it WAS unacceptable and I told them so on both days). The telephone in my room did not work (room 305) and the shower flooded out of the cubicle onto the floor after about 2 minutes of running the water - minor issues compared to the mattress. Summary: a poor hotel that could do with a lick of paint / new carpets (and the sole lift needs a good scrub / deep clean). I cannot comment on the food as alas I was forced to use Just Eat for my evening meal - but the breakfast was bland and just satisfactory. Location is great if you want to just drive off the motorway but if you do not have a car or want to visit anywhere in the town it is not so good. Compared to most Novotel hotels in the UK this is a very tatty and well below average example and when compared to the other chain hotels in the town it ranks poorly. Sorry guys but this is a shabby / poor hotel and I am sure the hotel management staff know it!

This hotel can only be described as a little worn. No lunch or bar service until 4pm Room ok but I personally failed to get into the shower, needed a ladder as the side was so high. Breakfast just ok but staff failed to keep up with demand. Had to wait for things to be topped up all the time. Very convenient location
