Arrived to find out we had been upgraded and while it was a nice gesture, we checked out by 1am and went to another hotel. The noise was way too much and we were unable to sleep. Given my partners health issues, she needed her sleep, so we made the decision to check in to a quieter hotel.

Reception staff very good, heated foyer and bar appreciated. Housekeeping didn’t replenish toilet paper, we had to ask reception for more also there were no instructions on how to use the microwave/convection oven in the room. Meal reheat didn’t heat up meals, we had to use convection oven to heat meals. Water bottles were not replaced and we were told after the empty bottles were binned that we were to refill them with tap water. There is no signage in the room nor were we told about it until we asked reception about replacing the bottles. On a positive note the bed was comfortable, room was a great size and shower was hot and strong. Location of hotel suited us fine with easy walk to anything in the CBD of Adelaide.

I enjoyed my stay but found the glass bathroom door very annoying and the soap pump container was placed very high and in an inconvenient location. I had to contort myself to get any soap. It was placed in that position so it lined up with the tissues. Why? Just have it in an accessible spot.

Rooms tired, A/C right in front of bed, shower head was old & combined with poor water pressure was terrible. The bacon on both morning I had breakfast was terrible, either over or under cooked.

On 25 August at approximately 10–11 am, my wife was alone in our room when someone knocked on the door. Before she had sufficient time to respond, the person used a key card to unlock our room door. Fortunately, we had engaged the safety latch, which prevented the door from being opened fully. The person appeared to be one of the contractors working on the hotel’s renovation project. When my wife approached the door and asked why he was attempting to enter the room, he told her that he wanted to check whether the renovation noise was affecting the room. I find this incident extremely concerning. In my view, a contractor should not be attempting to access an occupied guest room for a non-emergency purpose without prior notice or sufficient opportunity for the guest to answer the door. The fact that the person had a key card capable of unlocking our occupied room also raises serious questions for me about the hotel’s controls over contractor access and its commitment to guest privacy and security. I reported the incident to reception that same evening but received no response from hotel management. When we checked out on 27 August, I raised the matter again and was told that a manager would respond by the end of the day. At the time of writing this review, another day has passed and I have still received no response. The incident itself was concerning enough, but I am equally disappointed by the lack of follow-up. Given the nature of what occurred, I expected the hotel to investigate the matter promptly and provide an explanation. Based on my experience and the absence of any response so far, I am left with serious concerns about how the hotel manages guest privacy, room access and security during its renovation.

Lovely place to stay, staff were amazing helping me check in early after a sleepless overnight bus trip! Made me feel very comfortable. Was well warned about the rooftop construction works, which did get noisy, but didn’t deter from the stay.
