Ruth J TripAdvisor review

My room in the new annexe was fine - clean, nicely furnished in a rather dark clubby style but wifi tv kettle and shower all worked fine. Bed comfortable too. I gathered when checking out that those in the original building fared less well, with dirt, mould and no hot water. Now the niggles - the restaurant is merely a bar offering basic pub grub which in my case was oversalted. The hotel is in the centre of town and there are plenty of other places to eat, I noticed as I was leaving the next day - however after battling to get to the hotel for an hour due to road works with no diversion signs blocking off the high street, I unfortunately just opted for convenience as I was tired. The breakfast was OK. No offer of eggs cooked to order, which many hotels do now. The parking charge for the cramped awkward to navigate tiny car park was outrageous. I paid £30, and then when I wanted to collect my case after checking out of the hotel room breakfast I was charged another £15 leaving at 4 p.m. when I'd checked in at 6.30 p.m. the night before. This is what really outraged me as I feel this was egregious profiteering - as it was a business trip I will not be paying personally. When work calls me back to Oxford I will avoid this hotel as the staff could easily have accepted that I had already paid for 24 hours parking, and waived the charge. I managed to avoid the emission charging zone by approaching from the St Clements end of the high street

On the Oxford high street, I stayed for work. I found the staff very pleasant, the room was comfortable and quaint, and breakfast was lovely. Shame I couldnt bring my dog as I dont think pets are allowed, I would have ate in the resturant which looked inviting but I arrived after 9pm and it was closed by then.

Dear David, Thank you for your review! We're delighted you enjoyed your stay overall. We apologize for any inconvenience regarding our pet policy and restaurant hours. We do indeed welcome pets, and we appreciate your feedback on our restaurant hours. We hope to welcome you and your furry friend back soon!

This hotel is a gem in the centre of Oxford neighbouring some of the finest colleges. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and efficient and the rooms are quintessentially Oxford. Buses to just about everywhere are easily accessible from the many bus stops a few steps away. The breakfast is excellent.
