Nice hotel, we had a lovely room in new wing, spacious and included mini fridge, safe plus dressing gowns and slippers. Very good selection of hot and cold buffet style breakfast in restaurant but food at night unmemorable. Restaurant was chilly and lacked ambiance.

Dear Christine, Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your spacious room and the amenities in the new wing, as well as our buffet-style breakfast. We apologize that your dinner experience didn't meet expectations and appreciate your comments on the restaurant ambiance. Your insights are valuable as we strive to improve our services. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again.

Larryshulman Business - TripAdvisor review

This hotel needs serious work. There are works going on but they should really have closed the hotel whilst doing them as my room was really not up to standard Firstly, the lift was out of order and when my colleague asked to have her bags taken to the 3rd floor she was told it would be &5 per bag! The lift was out of order and so was this My room - air conditioning didn’t work and room was hot. They did provide a fan which was nearly falling over due to faulty stand. The windows were rotting, secondary windows didn’t close properly. No bedside light without switching on all lights Breakfast wasn’t great either - all 2 star standard All just poor

Dear Larry, I am sorry that there were aspects of your stay that lead to some disappointment. Unfortunately the passenger lift in the main building had to have a repair completed and we actioned this as soon as we were aware of the issue, and this was completed after being out of service for a week once lift company were able to source and fit a new part. I believe there was a misunderstanding in regard to the transportation of luggage, and I apologise for that. I would have very much welcomed the opportunity to discuss your feedback in person at some point during your visit. Kind regards Jason General Manager

I had a great experience at Mercure Hotel Oxford, Staff were above and beyond in service. Excellent food and the hotel is centrally located in the middle of town, easy access within walking distance. The mattress was not firm and it would be my only suggestion for improvement.

Dear Farah, Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciated our staff, food, and central location. We appreciate your suggestion regarding the mattress and will look into it for improvement. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

A deterioration since our last visit. Command of spoken English at reception was limited. Noisy room on busy high street. Room felt tired. Old fixtures and fittings. Lighting terrible - no apparent control of bedside light. No flannels in bathroom.Lift broken throughout stay so much hefting of luggage. Breakfast disappointing- serve yourself coffee from a catering urn. Poor value for money £369 for the night.

Dear Professor, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the issues you experienced during your recent stay. We'll address these concerns promptly to ensure a better experience for our guests in the future.

Staff left car unlocked with engine running; lost our booking

Our stay was highly unsatisfactory due to many issues: - on arrival my partner tried to check in but reception couldn't find our booking. 20 mins later they found the lost booking - we left our car keys with reception, and later found the car unlocked with engine still running! When we queried this, reception falsely claimed we had left the car like that - lift not working so we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. My partner had recent back surgery so this was highly uncomfortable. Also for me as I had to carry heavy suits up and down stairs multiple times (since room keys not activated correctly - see below) And more issues e.g.: - 2nd room key initially not working - room keys disabled prior to me checking out - room aircon not working - blackout curtains let sunlight shine directly onto one's eyes when one is sleeping (even when curtains fully drawn) In summary, our stay was highly unsatisfactory. This 4-star hotel charged us over £200 a night (+ £30 a night for parking).
