Stayed here for over 14 years and it was the first time the receptionist remembered me and really made me happy!! Her name was Chaw!! However, on my departure date, cafe waiter at reception asked me to bring my luggage to checkin counter and even after I explained to him I usually leave it behind the reception counter, the waiter insisted I check it in at reception. I unwillingly do so and when returning back to the cafe reception, I see 2 guests in front of me enter the cafe with their rolling luggage without requiring to check them in really ticked me off!!!! I instantly complaint to the guy immediately and showed him my displeasure!!! Something like this can ruin my day especially in the morning on my final day before returning to HK…. I do wanted to be treated differently because I’m a platinum member but definitely not in this way!!!

The IBIS Bencoolen was a mid-tier hotel with all the amenties, friendly staff, good aircon in the room, comfortable bed with a range of pillows and a nice shower. When I asked to not have breakfast on my last day as I was flying out early the reception staff said they couldn't credit breakfast even though they wouldn't provide anything at 5.30am. They said something about coffee being available or a takeaway box but when I asked at 5.45am on my last day if there was any breakfast (as I had to pay for it) I was told there was no breakfast until 6am. This put a damper on my stay but the rest of the hotel amenties and service were great.

I am shocked by the lack of services at your hotel. I would have expected to get a room to talk with the police. Also I am shocked about the increase of the deposit. Via e-mail I understood I could bring the equivalent of 100 Singapore dollars in Euros, but staff at the hotel told me to deposit 200 Euros for two rooms. I beg your pardon! Furthermore, I find your staff not so kind and welcoming as compared to Ibis hotels in London, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bradford and Prague. Perhaps its just a cultural difference between us Europeans and Asians. I can’t imagine though. I was so disappointed at the current state of the rooms and corridor. It felt like an Ibis budget hotel that I visited a while ago in Northern England. My expectations were much higher for a 4 star rated hotel. For example, where was the wardrobe? Why did the toilet seat not fit on the toilet? The wall paint was not a good state either. I can only say one positive thing about your hotel. Mrs. Wendy was so upbeat and so lovely. She did an amazing job. The rooms were clean and to us she made us feel welcome at the hotel. Throughout we have missed understanding from your side. The whole visit to Singapore turned out to be negative because of this hotel experience at your Ibis hotel. All in all, I am hoping the best for you all. I am hoping for improvements and maybe we will come back again after improvements have been implemented and after your response.

I stayed 6 nights. I really value cleanliness and I was not disappointed. The hotel is clean, safe, my room was brilliant, comfy bed, clean bathroom. The staff are so accommodating. Easy access to MRT, I walked to Little India & Arab street. This hotel will be my go to for Singapore trips from now on. Well equipped gym with free weights, weights machines , treadmills, bike etc. I didn’t attend breakfast so can’t comment. Thank you Ibis Bencoolen for your hospitality.
