Disappointing. We first seen this offer on Secret Escapes but couldn’t book the dates with it so called the hotel direct. Thought we booked bed& breakfast but when got there room only. Asked about booking dinner in restaurant and told fully booked both nights.Went to bar to eat and not happy menu not much choice. I checked when passing dining room and no way were they fully booked. I asked next morning to see if we could eat in restaurant and was told a group had cancelled and to to back later to confirm this. They said they would put us in if possible. When we returned after lunch we were told they had cancelled but couldn’t fit us in as over 100 booked!!!!????? This was rubbish as we passed dining room on way out to eat and no way was the room full. Funnily enough after returning to the hotel there was a fire evacuation and there was nowhere near the amount of people at the hotel as they had said!!!! We were two couples and went for a relaxing break away and didn’t envisage having to get in car at night to find somewhere to eat. Breakfast on the last morning was was over a 25 minute wait to just give give our order and that was after I asked a member of staff as people were being served who had arrived after us. All in all a disappointing stay and will never stay at one of your hotels again.

We decided to stay one night at the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary before going to another hotel for the weekend. First impressions on arrivel was good, removal of all the extra covers on the bed and cushions was fine, lovely clean room .Excellent Covid-19 precautions in place around the hotel. We had booked through travelzoo one night bed and breakfast with evening meal and a bottle of wine. The hotel does not accept any cash so you have to use a card to settle the bill which was most annoying. The evening meal was a minimum menu which was fine ,veg soup for starter Awful, extra £12 for rump steak wow! but nothing on the menu jumped out at me, ended up with Steak and Ale pie because they had run out of Steak(before 8pm shocking).Well it didn’t get any better five small pieces of meat one was grisly the other four, tough as old boots, wish they had said there was mushrooms in it on the menu as I’m not a fan and wouldn’t have ordered it ( there was more mushrooms than beef). Dessert We ordered two cheesecakes (our favourite)soggy biscuit base and tasted like a birds catering packet mix. Coffee ,ordered one cappuccino for my wife and an espresso for me. Called over the staff member in charge and asked him to identify what coffee we had received ,the cappuccino was maybe a latte and wasn’t sure what mine was as it was in huge bowl and they were both stone cold, I asked if he would drink them he said no and would speak to his colleague and not change us (instant coffee in the room was 500% better).I think new cups, correct cups and staff training at Starbucks. On leaving we had to pay for dessert £13.90 we ate it so we will payed ,now this was Wednesday 26 August which the Mercure website was advertising Eat out to help out so I asked if we qualified and was told that they were not in it. I asked at reception to clarify and they said they could not do it as they haven’t got a button on the till and asked the government to take them off it.( Something fishy going on here maybe wink wink Extra income) Breakfast was a good set up , our order was taken immediately cornflakes, toast, full English, fruit juice and the coffee was ok. The only thing that spoiled breakfast was the cornflakes never appeared. We also went to the spa and had a swim, excellent Standard We had a problem with the shower that would not turn off (we just put the shower on the floor so it didn’t bother us) and a loose floor tile stepping out of the shower which I reported on leaving( this was already on there maintenance list for the day ) Would I stay here again ? Yes probably I’d also like to say the staff were all very well presented and polite. I would have breakfast again but other than that I would eat elsewhere.

We were very happy with the lovely situation and the attractive buildings, all staff were very pleasant and helpful the room was very nice and comfortable, with just a slight issue about the bathroom plumbing, which was given some attention during our stay.
Lovely grounds clean room

The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. The one evening meal was edible but not one of the best I've had. Poor selection and rather bland. I heard someone mention the menu hadn't changed from the previous evening so we would not have been pleased if we'd decided to have two evening meals. The breakfast also was not one of the best so the second day I only had porridge. The hotel was quite nice apart from the food. Would stay again but wouldn't opt for breakfast and evening meal
