Hard work with children! Disabled access had steps. Beds really uncomfortable (all three friends in separate rooms said the same thing without prompting. Reception saw I had two young babies and didn’t think to swap my room with a friend who had been given a disabled access room on ground floor. Nice bar and pool was good with really helpful staff

Not a cheap night away in the Romeo and Juliet suite- initially too cold to enjoy the lovely room- promised Prosecco in the room needed chasing, maintenance visit to solve heating issues didn’t work necessitating a heater to be provided 2 towels seems stingy- another call to reception Towel rail comes clean off the wall - dangerous Room once warm lovely but it meant we had to retreat to the bar where the outnumbered bar man had to run around trying to fulfil drinks orders- get more staff, a point reinforced by the ludicrous wait for breakfast.

In terms of accomodation and breakfast all was great. Unfortunately the booking of my taxi to the station that I asked for the night before was not done or mistaken. Therefor I missed my train and I had to take an expensive taxi to the airport to catch my flight. Furthermore I have asked for the company address on my invoice and written it down on Friday morning. Until now (4 days later) I still haven't received the updated invoice via Email. These things could be improved.

Staff very good, food good, room which was booked as a wheelchair accessible room was difficult to turn in and the bathroom was definitely not big enough as almost impossible to close the door once the wheelchair was inside.

The hotel is lovely but has one design flaw that if fixed would make the experience better for all disabled visitors. The disabled lift from the bar to the reception never works. The disabled visitor has to go to breakfast via the back door through the kitchen. (New Year's Eve navigating a flood from burst water pipes, thank goodness there was not a freeze!) The simple solution is to extend the floor/steps from reception into the bar by 6-8ft creating a left hand ramp and forward steps option. I have observed the positioning and it would take up currently wasted space that has no purpose. The benefit would be removal of the hydraulic lift hidden behind a door panel. Therefore no more maintenance costs. Full customer use of the corner where the disability access lift is currently sited - additional tables and seating. A feeling that the disabled guest is truly cared for. They currently have to leave the building in bad weather and take a long detour to the back of the hotel to access the drawing room, reception and restaurant. That is not good!

From reception to leaving we had a wonderful time. Nancy who works behind the bar was fabulous, very friendly and polite and made us feel very welcome and special. All staff we cam across were excellent. The room was lovely, with added touch of a fridge. We used the spa, and enjoyed every minute of it. The food was great ans reasonable priced.

Check-in proved rather irritating as sales appeared to have not updated the reception data??!! hence I was asked to pay the bill for 10 people (I had made a booking for 5 couples) again. Unfortunately one of our friends had arrived ahead of myself and had been asked to secure the payment for the NYE ball - it looked like I had not paid the bill etc. very poor show indeed. It was resolved eventually, but that was not a great start to our NYE. The hotel is lovely , the team is so friendly and customer focused - they are a credit to the hotel. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the food served on the night - I have organised NYE parties for the past 11 years and I can honestly say that this was the worse food we ever had. The starter was tasteless - more like leftover terrine and the beef was totally overcooked - I as my friends appreciate the difficulty in catering for large parties, but this food felt as if it had been prepared by a junior rather than an accomplished chef. Breakfast was hectic - but considering everybody must have known the number of people staying ie wanting breakfast it should have been better organised ie replenish empty food dishes. Checking-in person seemed totally overstreched. Apart from the above it was a good evening.
