I have 3 month's notice that I couldn't stay due to Covid-19 and the need to self-isolate. Mercure kept 100% of my accommodation charge, with no recognition of the circumstance. I do not wish to use Mercure ever again.

The key for our room did not work, if one is picky the bathrooms are rather tired. Some instructions in the room about the heating system if you needed it would be useful. Staff seemed absent in the dining room at breakfast but we worked out how it worked. But a wonderful site.

Good location, helpful staff, pity about the very tired room and furnishings!!

Room 124: washbasin pockmarked over its entire surface, stand chair upholstery holed, carpet had threadbare patches. Pity that the dinner (??) menu was not available on the website. The description as "Bistro" was stretching imagination. Unfortunately we booked for the first evening and half the (very limited range) of dishes were "off". None of the usual information about facilities, times etc in the room. "Classic" room pictured on website shows 2 armchairs. Only 1 in room - for 2 people. Not as advertised!

Staff were efficient and helpful. Our room was very cold on arrival. A small double bed pushed against a cold wall. Appalling carpet...how old ?

We were booked into a upgraded dirty grubby room with a tv not working one bedside lamp missing and various lights not working. I have stayed here often but felt insulted by this room. I was upgraded to a executive room but this is a cleaner version of the previous room that’s all.

We stayed 2 nights for a family event in February and the hotel was ideally located with parking onsite. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and efficient. A special request I made was embraced willingly. However there was no heating in the hotel! We found an electric heater in the cupboard of our room which helped a little but the room was uncomfortably cold at all times of D. and night. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and we appreciated the extra touches of a Privilege room- robes/slippers/toiletries and Nespresso. However the carpet in the room seriously needs replacing!

The best asset of this hotel is its location and the view on the cathedral and breakfast variety, although the coffee was not great. This is a pretty old hotel that deserves refurbishing and/or maintenance. Heating was not working and I had to use a mobile heater which is not comfortable at all. Shower water was not warm enough. Large bed is actually two small bed combined and not firm mattress (some people may like it this way though).

Check in was lovely and smooth and after returning from shopping in the city there was a birthday treat waiting in my room. Kian on reception was friendly, welcoming and professional. Can't wait to stay again.

The room was a good size with a comfy large bed. Well equipped but very dated. An air of neglect as room bins were full on arrival, towels were changed even though left on rails. Breakfast was tasty but staff were fussing around but not doing basics, meaning many guests were asking for coffee, hot water and food which had run out. Desk staff were pleasant and helpful. An overall feeling of neglect.

A wonderful location but unfortunately that is all this hotel has going for it. It is in desperate need of upgrading. The room is very old and so is the furniture and deco. It was not very clean. Glass, coffee mugs and bathrooms were not that clean. Although we were on a non smoking floor the entire corridor smelt of smoke. The reception staff and reservations staff were excellent.

Very courteous and welcoming staff. Lovely big bedroom with view of the cathedral. Dressing gown and slippers were appreciated! I have stayed here on several occasions and have always found the bar area a bit chilly and uninviting. It was much the same this time. However, I did have a very excellent (and much needed) G&T there. Breakfast was self- service and fairly average. I will probably stay here again.

I stayed at the hotel on 15th of February. Though the weather was terrible I had an amazing stay atvthd hotel. Breakfast was nice with good choice of vegetarian option. On arrival a birthday note was waiting for me which was a nice touch.
