The staff at this hotel were some of the kindest and warmest people I've met while traveling — not the most polished or formal, but genuinely humble and welcoming, which made our stay feel personal rather than transactional. The location is about a 20-minute walk from Ortigia, but don't let that put you off — the walk itself is a pleasure, taking you past plenty of great restaurants and shops along the way. The pool was a bit smaller than I expected, but given that you're right in the middle of the city with an amazing view over the archaeological sites, it's easy to overlook. The rooftop bar was a real highlight, with a great selection of cocktails and aperitifs, and the bartenders had exactly the kind of friendly, easygoing energy you'd want from a rooftop bar. As a bonus, the rooftop also has a view of Mount Etna — during our stay, we could actually see the volcano's activity in the distance, which was an unforgettable sight to enjoy with a drink in hand.

My room was excessively warm and I had no way to control the room temperature, as it is controlled by the front desk. In spite of complaining three times about this issue, little was done to bring the room temperature to a comfortable level. The default room temperature was 26.5 degrees Celsius and it felt very uncomfortable. The hotel corridors had a much comfortable temperature, by contrast.

Great location for the famous archaeology sites and museum, all of which are less than 5 minutes walk away Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, with good rooms and a lovely SPA. 3 nights as part of a longer holiday, we are regular users of Mercure; the value seemed a good balance as similar hotels in Ortigia seemed a good 25% more expensive. The only real negative is that it's 30-minutes from the town centre, and uphill on the way back! But that doesn't bother us. Good breakfast offer and also a good restaurant (prices as expected).

The hotel location is not the best. Even though it is right across the street from the beach, the beach is littered extensively. For an overnight stay in Siracusa, as a starting location to goto Mt Etna it is acceptable.

Our 5 night stay was pleasant and the room very nice. Free non-alc minibar and comfy beds. Hotel was beside gas station so the wievs from windows were not so great. Short walking distance from Teatro Greco and 30 mins walk from old town. Staff was very frindly and helpful and breakfast was nice with local products.
