Staff were nice, product a bit basic and tired. Surprised there were no bathroom amenities, ie cottonbuds, toothbrush and paste.

Staycation for one evening

As an Accor member, we were not greeted in the best way. Upon arrival to the front desk, we lined up at the priority check in, in addition to having completed online check in. One of the staff (later found out she is called Theresa) came and said, "line up over there, no one is serving this line" without any eye contact. If that check in counter is shut for members, shouldn't there be a sign to indicate that? Even if that counter is not operating, the staff could ask guests kindly to use the rest of the lines to line up. If online check in does not make any difference to the check in process, then why should guest waste time to complete online check in prior to the arrival?

I find the toilet is dirty which the walls has got moldy and the room has some smell. And cannot make the booking of the meals for buffet which make me disappointed. The slippers can be improved which give better quality.

I’ve booked romantic package direct with the hotel at $1388, inclusive of dinner and breakfast buffet. But my experience was very disappointing. 1. I presume there is lowest price guarantee through direct booking with hotel, but it wasn’t. The price was lowered through booking with KLook which was $1188. When I sounded this out, nothing changed. 2. I requested high floor, but I was given a middle level floor, and at first assigned a room facing directly the residential buildings. When I requested for a change, another better view one was given. I presume that the hotel will firstly provide a better room to member, but not when upon request. 3. The worst experience was the meal arrangement! We, and other guests, had to line up and wait for 30 minutes before serving a table for the dinner buffet! And the restaurant was too full that guests had to line up a long queue to get food. I was totally annoyed with such arrangement and without the desire for the food. Same situation for breakfast time, though the waiting time to get a table was a bit shortened, but the queues for all the popular food, such as omelette, was too long for anyone to wait! The reception staff were friendly, but the management was poor and arrangement disappointing!

Had a nice stay at Novotel Tung Chung. Maureen, Rio & Agnes at the reception were pleasant & helpful. Had a smooth & fast check in. Our room was bright & clean. Food at the Olea was good. Love their freshly made bread. The team at the Essence were wonderful, attentive, efficient & cheerful. Had enjoyed a nice buffet breakfast there. Would love to come back again in the future.

I have extended the room check out to 4pm. However, there is terrible noise due to renovation starting from noon. The noise keeping going to 3pm. This is unpleasant and i wont extent if notice in advance.

Disappointing stay

Liked - The room was clean and the toiletries were of good quality. The location is very good and convenient. Wi-fi worked well. The check-in staff was very polite and offered a late check-out. Disliked · It is noticeable the steep decline in the quality of the food. Room service was below average and the breakfast at Olea was subpar; the options are too limited (the hotel advises that it is a simpler menu, but it is far too simple). The item requested a la carte, eggs benedict, were served hard and topped with something that was a very poor imitation of hollandaise sauce. The lobby bar was closed and the restaurants close very early, leaving no choice of drinks and food, except for the average room service. Upon check-out, I informed the staff that a nearby room on my floor had its door open, and a group of "guests" was having a communal meal in it (no masks being worn, of course). It was pointed out by me that, in the current situation, this was not acceptable. My complaint was completely ignored. Novotel Citygate is showing its age and is suffering from the effects of this endless pandemic, which is a pity, seeing that it was a vibrant and relaxed hotel.

Need more training to the staff

We can't see any smile from all the front desk staff. We have a welcome drink coupon to have a drink at the buffet restaurant. When we entered the restaurant before 9:00pm there was no staff to take care of us. We had searched a waitress to tell here we would like to have a drink here, she said the restaurant will close at 10:00pm, that means we are not welcome. She told us to wait. We waited for 10 mins. Finally, we can sit down and have a drink, but we have a bad feeling on it.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with our surnames from staffs of concierge, feels VVVIP. At the front desk, we were assisted by Catherine and manager Monica who were extremely helpful and wears a beautiful smile. We were then taken to the 22nd Floor and another staff of yours greeted us warmly and tells us the fruits at our rooms are freshly cut. The rooms were neat, tidy and spotless ... everything you would expect from a super 5 stars (if not 6 stars) hotel in midst of the covid19 pandemic situation. At dinner, we met Billy Cheng, the chef and we complimented that buffet dinner were provided to the highest standard in terms of quality, variety and hygiene (which is very important these days). The assistant Nicholas was very helpful and attentive to everything we need .... from change of plates to providing tissues and utensils. At breakfast, without referring to their individual names, staffs of Essence provided the same ultra-standard. The ultra standard which we expected at dinner the day before carries forward and did not fail our expectations at all. On 14th March, 4 out of the 6 of us visited the gym on 3rd floor at around 11:30a.m. (for exact time of visit, please review the log book marked room numbers 2221, 2210, 2212). Your health attendant had been very helpful with highest EQ which I would like to compliment in particular. When we arrived at the gym, there was already 1 gym-user (lets refer as "User 1"). So there is only 3 vacancies for the 4 of us (only 4 gym-users are allowed inside the gym at a time due to covid stringent control). I therefore waited outside the gym. During my wait, the father to User 1 (lets refer to "Resistor") tried to thrust himself into the gym. Your health attendant politely tells the Resistor about the 4 users policy. Resistor used foul language but nonetheless your health attendant remained calm and wore a smiling face and duly apologized to the Resistor for inconvenience caused. The attitude of your health attendant is very impressive! My only negative comment is .... Google map takes drivers to Citygate Outlet. Please liaise with Google Map and help resolve marking hotel's address as 51 Man Tung Road otherwise it took drivers to Citygate Outlet

After check in and went to the hotel room, I found that the room is no bath tub room type. I wonder whether the bath tub room type should be the upgrade one or not. Therefore, I called to the room service, the one who explain me in details. She helped me to check whether there was a queen size bed room with bathtub available. Just wait for few minutes, a guy brought another room key and available for me to relocate the room which I wanted. They are having efficient help and willing to assist my a-hoc request. Thank you so much. Therefore, my husband and I are thinking about the next staycation in your hotel together my 3 boys in the coming future.

14 Day Quarantine

I stayed here for my 14 day quarantine while traveling from Macau onto flight to Perth. The staff were friendly who i spoke to on the phone and delivery of my food panda ordered and room service were always prompt. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of the essentials I needed.
