Instead of improving their services on my next visit and making a service recovery, the GM decided to turn the tables around and play victim to circumstances he created! Attached herewith, for your perusal; are the 2 emails he sent me displaying his contempt for my online ACCOR reservation and his unprofessional impertinence! Making it extremely personal with me. Where so many hotels have succeeded in restoring their guests’ confidence in their hospitality, through their tenacity to get things right amongst their guests and sheer dedications, this recalcitrant GM instead decided to choose the lazy way out by putting the blame on the guests instead! That is so unlike ACCOR’s Hospitality!

Grand Mercure Asoke Residence As the name suggests this hotel is more like combination of a home and a hotel. As someone who travels frequently for work, I spend a lot of time in hotels, so I chose this hotel because its more like a serviced apartment and I was staying for a few weeks. Upon arrival I was greeted by lobby staff who offered to carry my luggage and gave me a welcome drink while checking in. My room (Grand Suite with balcony) was large and as expected from the photo’s. Inside there was two bottles of drinking water which were replenished each day. Kitchenette with enough utensils for making my own meal. Great to have a washing machine and clothes rack. There are some signs of wear and tear, a couple of lightbulbs stopped working during my stay, but maintenance quickly replaced them. Rooftop has a great pool where the sun is not obscured by other buildings. Sometimes I would eat breakfast or lunch from the café style eatery on the rooftop or have it delivered to my room. It is not 24 hours and I prefer to have a variety of different local/international foods, so I would sometimes use food delivery services such as Grab or Food Panda. The location is 400m off the main Sukhumvit road is peaceful but still close to BTS, MRT and Terminal 21. During the day there is half hourly shuttle service to Robinson (opposite Terminal 21). The last service I think is 17:00 but I found after 16:00 it is faster to walk because of traffic. Check out was fast and easy, I was asked if I needed taxi but I had already booked with Grab so that I don’t have to worry about price haggling. Overall, a comfortable stay, I had good service and was greeted welcomely by all staff as I came and went during my stay. Hope to be back soon.

This hotel is well located in the lanes of sukhumvit, in Bangkok, and its an apartment hotels with very nice and lavish rooms. We were even upgraded from our deluxe suite to an executive suite but beyond that: 1. we asked for extra towels, and they took ages to get it. 2. We called for an electric kettle for heating water, God knows when they will get it. 3. We called for housekeeping, and it seemed like its so much of botheration. This hotel is part of Accor group and its supposed to have minimum service standards. As we came from an excellent move n pick-Asara in Hua Hin, this place is definitely a disappointment. There are no bed side charging points, or light points.. so besides being a big spacious suite room, nothing works to make us come back here.

I love returning to the Grand Mercure Bangkok Asoke Residence. From the moment of arrival I feel welcomed and valued as a guest and also as a returning guest. My luggage taken from the Hotel car to reception for check-in and then on to 'my home'. I love staying here, not only because of the staff but because of the amount of space within the apartment, lounge, bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, dinning area, ensuite bathroom and a separate shower room for guests. Daily cleaning and two bottles of fresh water everyday; at least three standard hotel rooms would fit into my apartment and possibly more. The location of the Hotel is perfect, just minutes away from the bustling Sukhumvit and access to both the Sky Train and the Underground system. Soi 19 is a residential road and in addition has a number of restaurants, coffee shops etc. The well known Terminal 21 shopping centre and the Robinson department store are at the top of the Soi, both with supermarkets making shopping really easy for 'eating in' or buying snacks and wine, juices etc. The hotel also has a complimentary electric bus service which runs every 30 minutes to Terminal 21 and Robinsons and also returning to the Hotel. The swimming pool & gym on the 14th floor are excellent and breakfast is also served on the 14th floor. The breakfast is very good value with the usual range of cooked and cold items, toast, fruit, yoghurts, juices, coffee, tea and also very caring staff; I generally eat breakfast in the apartment but always enjoy a hearty breakfast from time to time on the 14th floor. The hotel is also excellent value for money and I am already looking forward to my next return visit later this year. My thanks to the staff at the Asoke who are always ready and eager to help and or also just say 'Sawasdee Khrub'. Thank you.

I will preface the this with the fact that I have awarded the hotel 2 stars on the grounds that they offered a full refund when they were not obligated to. That speaks volumes to the character of the receptionist. When we booked this hotel, we made two requests. Firstly, that an additional bed be made available for our son. The hotel's booking.com page indicates that this is available for £19 p/n. The second request was that we receive a transfer from the hotel, which was confirmed in writing by the hotel. When we landed at the airport, there was no transfer at all. We resorted to a less than scrupulous taxi driver who refused to use a meter. It's worth noting that despite this, he charged half the price that this hotel quoted (they quoted 1500B from Don Mueang - a 20-25 min drive). When we arrived, the hotel was desolate and charmless. Help with our bags was not forthcoming. Our room was, in fairness, modern and clean, as described. Unfortunately, there was no extra bed. I raised this with reception, which said they didn't receive our request and had no facility for extra beds at all at the hotel. They had no explanation for their booking.com page which advertised availability. We went to our room and hoped for the best. The kitchenette was bare and didn't even have safe drinking water. Despite advertising breakfast and lunch, there is no restaurant on site, and no facility to get food within the property. We made the booking as we trusted the mercure brand, but were seriously let down. We opted to check out that night, in light of all the failings. Being absolutely fair, we had a "no cancellation" policy on our booking, but the receptionist reversed our transaction and didn't charge us. She also assisted us in arranging a cab to another hotel, as did the hotel porter, who loaded our bags into the cab.
