Not all Sofitel are created equal.

Good: Best in term of location. Located right above the central station. If arriving or leaving by train, it will be the most convenient. Bad: Dirty room. Dust on tables, underneath glass panel covering the table top. It was so bad it triggered my sinusitis from 2nd night. Stains on carpet, towels, bed sheets. As a 5-stars establishment, sheets that's permanently stained should be discarded. Informed housekeeping that I wish to have my bed sheets replaced as there were stains on it. She did the change while we were in the room working on our laptop. Later that night, I was surprised to be staring at the same stains on the sheets when I pulled open the nicely tucked duvet. Upon check-in, noticed Nespresso machine in the room but no capsules provided. Informed front desk and they promptly provided 4 pieces. By the next noon, we had finished all 4 pieces but were not replenished during housekeeping. Sound proofing could be better. Chatters from the corridor could be heard. Worn and dated interior furnishings. In desperate need of a major renovation. No shower stall. Have to stand in the bathtub to bathe. Floor of the bath tub is slightly curve, so it is pretty uncomfortable and be extremely careful to maintain balance in it. The toilet floor is guaranteed to be wet with the small swinging shower screen struggling to prevent water from splashing out, exiting the tub after bath can be a slipping hazard. To be fair, I feedback the above to the hotel and received a response stating they will investigate. But it seems that they do response to all the poor reviews here a few month prior to mine but still I had subpar experience. Whether or not there will be improvement, I definitely won't be back to find out.

Very disappointing the Sofitel Hotel has become so busy they don’t appreciate loyalty as in Diamond Accor Members anymore. I think we won’t stay here next time we weren’t greeted like we have been in the past the breakfast was a nightmare and the staff don’t and wouldn’t care if you were a member or not. The rooms are in need of an upgrade and so does the staff service. Changing my mind on Sofitel l think it’s time to move on with another Hotel Brand.

Utilised our Amex voucher, did not realise it was originally the Sheraton that we used to regularly frequent. Having arrived by train it would have been a piece of cake, other than no obvious elevator option, but we thought it was on Tank/Turbot Street, whoops, a long walk ensued. Upon arrival check in was perfunctory, no real welcome, & seemed to take ages considering we had already presented the check in details printed out, &, then she asked for our email address which was already clearly shown on the print out !! Not impressed. I had to ask re the Hotel Collection credit, no mention of an upgrade so as it had taken so long let it go. Room on the 18th floor was OK except the remote was dead & the clock could not be calibrated so we simply unplugged in case some idiot had set the alarm for 02:00. The only way to order room service was via a QR. I own a mobile telephone, ein handy, so the clue is in the name. One could look up the menu on the TV once you had a workable remote, but, no functionality to order that way even though it said click to order. When my wife ordered it stated 45mins for a simple order of pizza & Caesar salad but it did arrive in reasonable time except seemed really overpriced for what it was. By the way the concierge guys were most efficient fixing the remote issue & generally most staff were really on the ball. It would appear hoteliers are exploiting the Covid episode to save money ? Check out went well although only one member of staff available. I was asked if I had tipped for $14 & was then billed separately PLUS GST !!!, if you want to tip use filthy lucre, ie CASH. Concierge escorted us down the elevator for access to the station & was most helpful. This is only by special access. If you need assistance upon arrival you have to phone for this service, certainly not access friendly, how can they get away with it as access via Anne Street is only up steps? in conclusion doubtful if we would revisit especially if paying full price & no way would I drive with parking at $40+ a night !!

We stayed here for two nights over the weekend to take in a concert. While the reception area is quite nice, the room was a let-down. It looked quite tired with worn furniture and an old-fashioned bathroom. No shower stall just a shower over the bath which I hate. So, I question the 5 star category. Bed was comfortable (King) which saved it a bit. Food and drinks at 5 star prices as were the room rate which I felt was not justified. Parking was also very expensive. I guess if you are on company expenses, it does not matter. It's a conference hotel. If self-parking I recommend you drop your bags off first at the lobby as there is no elevator from the car park which means stairs! There is valet parking available. Overall, better choices available in Brisbane for that sort of money, so do your research. One positive was its location.

The Sofitel in Brisbane was perfect for my three day stay . The room was big , the bed was very comfortable and the room was well appointed with a functional desk. I had room service which arrived quickly and efficiently and delivered on flavour. The service was excellent and I left feeling i will stay again on my next work trip to Brisbane .
