Super hotel in a great location

Just arrived home from a fabulous 3 night stay at this property. The hotel is centrally located to tram, train and bus links which enabled us to pack a lot of sightseeing and shopping into our short stay. The hotel itself is warm and inviting. The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The beds are super comfy! We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful with a particular shout out to Dominik in the bar who went above and beyond to assist us. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back myself again. Lynn-Ireland

Great hotel

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel mainly to see the Christmas markets. The hotel is 5 minute walk from the metro and some great restaurants. It is walking distance to a lot of the sites. The hotel is quiet and slightly tucked away so nice for relaxing. We arrived on an early morning flight but couldn’t check in until 3pm but the staff were lovely and let us leave our bags so we could go out and explore. The entrance and reception are lovely olde world charm. Our room was a twin room the decor was dated but it was clean and comfortable and as we were only sleeping there not an issue for us. The staff were lovely and very helpful giving us directions of the metro and nearest markets to visit our first day. I would recommend this hotel and happily stay here again.

Fantastic location, easy access to public transport. Very friendly staff. The hotel decor is very traditional and could be modernised but I loved the vibe of it. Would definitely return.

Great Location, But Poor Service Experience

The hotel is in a perfect location — just a 6-minute walk from the train station and surrounded by plenty of restaurants. However, the hotel staff were a real letdown. We arrived early, around 11 a.m., which was fine since check-in isn’t until 3 p.m. We left our luggage and returned at about 2:30 p.m., hoping our room might be ready. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. We waited right in front of the reception desk, clearly visible to the staff, and noticed that other guests were being checked in before us. By 3:15, I asked again if our room was ready, only to be told, “Why didn’t you let us know you were waiting for your room?” — even though we had already asked twice. When we finally got our room, we were told it was on the 3rd floor. However, the lift only goes to the 3rd floor, and then you have to take two more flights of stairs to reach what they also call the “3rd floor.” The staircase area was poorly lit, and the lights were always off, which didn’t feel very safe or convenient. Overall, great location but disappointing service and confusing access to the rooms.

A top hotel in Vienna

My wife and I spent three nights in the Mercure Grand while visiting Vienna. From the very first we were impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. We arrived at midday about three hours before check in with the intention of just leaving our bags at reception but the lady checked and found our room was ready and gave us the keys. The room itself was immaculately clean and the whole hotel had a very solid and traditional feel to it. We were also very impressed with the breakfast which had a huge range to cater for every taste. The metro is modern, clean and close by and for 1.50 euro each we could travel in to the centre to explore this wonderful city. A great experience.
