We recently stayed at the Novotel Queenstown and found the experience to be quite mixed. The Positives: • Superb Location: You really can’t beat the convenience — it’s an easy walk to the lake and the town centre. • Friendly Staff: Most of the team were warm and welcoming. A special shout-out to Tristan, who went above and beyond to assist us with a significant noise issue. His professionalism and genuine willingness to help really stood out. Areas for Improvement: • Platinum Welcome Amenity: As an Accor Platinum member, the welcome amenity felt very average and below the standard we’ve experienced at other Accor properties. • Noise Disturbance: For two consecutive nights, our sleep was disrupted by loud noise coming from a council generator located close to our room. While the noise was not the hotel’s fault, the hotel still has a duty of care to ensure guest comfort. We genuinely appreciate Tristan’s efforts in resolving the issue, but it shouldn’t have taken two nights to address. • Communication Between Teams: We settled our stay in advance using Accor vouchers, but it appears the reservation team didn’t communicate this properly with the front desk. As a result, we were incorrectly told on our final day that we still needed to pay — an avoidable and inconvenient error. • Maintenance Concerns: The room itself needs attention. Visible cracks on the wash basin pose both a maintenance and safety concern and should be addressed promptly. Overall: Given the room rate being comparable to Sofitel and the multiple issues we experienced, we unfortunately would not choose to return. The location and staff kindness (especially from Tristan) were highlights, but the shortcomings in maintenance, communication, and comfort made the stay less enjoyable than expected.

Tristan and I also enjoyed meeting you both although we wish it had been under better circumstances. At the same time, we’re disappointed that several parts of your visit didn’t meet expectations. As a Platinum member, your welcome amenity should have felt more special, and we apologize that it fell short. We’re also sorry for the noise disruption caused by the nearby council generator. While it was outside our control, your comfort should still have been a priority from the beginning I am happy that your last night stay was generator free. The confusion around your prepaid vouchers was another avoidable frustration, and we agree that clearer communication between teams is essential. Your comments about the cracked wash basin are also important, and we will be following up to ensure these maintenance issues are resolved promptly. Thank you again for sharing such honest and thoughtful feedback. We’re grateful for the chance to learn from your experience, and we’re sorry that this stay didn’t reflect the standards you expected. My husband and I stayed here for five nights as we explored Queenstown and surrounding area. What we really liked about the location was that while you are so close to the entire “downtown” core of Queenstown, you are also kind of tucked away on the last side street so you are close to the hustle and bustle while also being a bit secluded. We also really enjoyed the proximity to Queenstown Gardens which is an absolute gem. Many restaurants are nearby as well. The bed was comfortable and we found being at the far end of the hallway with a view to the gondola, our room was very quiet every night. Staff were all very helpful and friendly.
