Good experience in Basel

I already knew Ibis budget because I have already booked rooms in this chain many times in the past (mainly in France). An important upside is that the reception is open around the clock. What I didn't like it's that it looks like I was charged more. The room was advertised at 72 chf. If I add 10 chf for the parking and 3,50 for the city tax I should pay 85,50 chf. Instead I was charged 89,50 CHF. Overall the room was ok.
Good ending to a bad day

We've stayed at hotel in previous occasions so we know the hotel well. In the morning we lost our cat at the nearby services. When we checked in, the lady in reception was incredibly helpful and suggested us how to get the word out that our pet was missing. At midnight after going out for searching one last time we found our little cat in the bushes,so a good ending to what could have been a terrible. Thank you to the staff Christian & Isabela

Rooms were clean to start but then the problems started to surface. There was no daily room cleaning. Was informed by front desk the rooms are cleaned once in 5 days. Not sure if this was a norm or was an exception due to COVID but either was was not hygienic. More severe was water leak from the roof that started and gradually increased over first couple of days of our stay. There was constant dripping of water. Reported to the front desk but nothing was done. Borrowed towels to lay on the floor to soak up the water. A constant change of reception staff means earlier complaints completely lost. After spending 2 nights in the leaking room an evening staff offered to provide another room. This was after many times back and forth to the reception as the staff said they were busy, then they said they need to physically check the damage (i.e 10:30 late in the evening when kids want to get some sleep). Then having to prompt the staff as they did not turn up to inspect even after an hour of waiting. There is no telephone and the only means to contact staff is by reaching out to the staff by elevator and waiting in the Queue of people that want to be served. Finally moved rooms late in the night. Not at all convenient when with kids. One silver lining to all this was the staff was kind enough to offer room next door and made the change of rooms less painful. All in all not so happy with how staff dealt with the issues and overall maintenance of the property.
Great overnight stay

We instantly felt at ease when we arrived at the hotel. Partly due to the familiar set up and it being the same as all the other Ibis Budgets we’ve stayed at, but also due to the staff wearing masks and the high standards of cleanliness that we have come to expect from Ibis.
