Novotel Palembang is definitely the best hotel in town. Everything is perfect, receptionist is helpful, comfort and clean room, yummy foods, green view and nice ambience. Ofc, I will be back!

A bit shocking when I found the sofa was dirty with cake crumbles and some stains of chocolate milk. Perhaps the room service missed it when they did the cleaning. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom so when I took a bath the water fsplashed every where and floor was flooding. The food was okay and the pool was very clean.

Previously, about 3 days before arrival, I had sent an email regarding the arrival plan, room request, and late check-out plan. But no answer. The day before arrival, I called the hotel to make sure whether my email was sent or not, and they replied that the email must be checked first. This means that my request has not been recorded. So, on the phone, I conveyed some of my request notes. On the day I stayed, I arrived around 1.30 PM. I came as a Gold member of Accorplus. The special check-in desk for ALL members looks empty without an officer. I decided to head to the regular check-in desk. A female receptionist greeted me. When conveying the name of the room reservation, there is no special greeting to me as a loyal member of ALL. Usually, we will receive a greeting like: "Welcome to Hotel A, Mr. X, thank you for being our loyalty member". But this is absolutely no-nonsense at all. In email and on the phone, I have asked for a room on the 2nd floor, with a balcony. But at first, the receptionist gave me a room on the 1st floor, which means my previous request was not recorded again. Then I politely asked that I, as a Gold ALL member, automatically had been upgraded 1 room level from Superior to Deluxe, but if I used a room upgrade coupon from Accorplus, would it be possible for me to be upgraded 1 more level to a Junior Suite? And she immediately answered it was not possible, without trying to ask his supervisors first. Then regarding the late check-out request, I who had asked to check-out at 5 pm was forced to be able to check-out at 4 pm, and she added by saying late check-out at 5 pm only for Platinum members. I have almost no problem, but the tone of the receptionist's voice saying "5 pm only for Platinum" seems like a complete disregard to me. I also submit my vehicle number plate to be entered into the parking system. After getting the room key and the Welcome Drink coupons, I immediately went to the Le Bar lounge to ask for a welcome drink to be delivered to the room, and I asked for fresh juice. However, the officer said that the welcome drink was only in the form of iced tea, packaged juice and the size of the glass was very small and if you wanted to take it to your room you could bring it yourself. Again, the staff couldn't differentiate whether I was a Gold Member or a regular guest, so the welcome drink was considered a normal one. So I decided to hold off on taking the welcome drink. Okay, after entering the room, all is well. Rooms are okay, AC is cold, warm water is smooth. I had time to use the pool facilities well with my child. The last time we were here in August 2021 the pool was under major repairs so it couldn't be used. But after returning to the room, the Welcome Amenity which is my right as a Gold member still hasn't arrived. Until finally at 7 pm I called the reception desk to ask about it. Luckily it was the Supervisor who picked up the phone, and I reminded him that I had not received the Welcome Amenity until then. I also complained about the welcome drink that couldn't be delivered to the room by the lounge staff. Pak Afit/Afid as the supervisor finally apologized and promised that the welcome drink (fresh juice) and amenity (fresh fruit) will be delivered to my room immediately. Problem solved for now. In the morning, breakfast went well. Menu choices have started to vary again as before the pandemic. Then at 8 am I took the car out for work. But by the parking attendant, I was billed for parking payment, which means that my car plate was not registered in the system, even though yesterday I asked to register it with the check-in officer. After explaining that I was a hotel guest and mentioning the room number, then I was allowed to leave and asked to register my car when re-entering the hotel area. I feel this incident repeatedly every time I stay at Novotel Palembang So, in short, my experience this time has not improved from my last experience in August 2021 (which I decided not to write about due to how angry I was back that time). Pros: + Room facilities are almost no problem + Gym, swimming pool, and hotel area are well maintained. + The staff at The Square restaurant are quite prompt in serving Cons: - Loyalty members, even Gold level like me are not well rewarded. The hospitality must be the same between local Palembang "VIP" guests and loyal members. Don't just pay attention to guests from government officials, etc. - The value of ALL must always be instilled in every level of the hotel staff. In other hotels, even Ibis Styles I feel very appreciated. But at the level of Novotel Palembang Hotel and Residence, for a welcome amenity, why do I have to call first and then be delivered to the room, it doesn't make sense. - The special check-in desk for ALL members is always empty - Unregistered parking system problem, this keeps repeating - The special check-in desk for ALL members is always empty - Unregistered parking system problem, this keeps repeating I think the various uncomfortable things that I have experienced recently at Novotel Palembang will make me think over and over again about spending nights with my family here. In fact, last October 2020 I had a very pleasant stay when Mr. Sarif Afandi was still the FO Manager. Maybe I'll go back to stay when my ALL status is already in Platinum, to be able to feel the difference in service (if there is a difference). Or maybe not.
