Lovely staff at this slightly hard to find hotel but the room was tatty with a stained carpet, no teaspoons, the back missing off the TV remote, no handle to the sink plug and the shower was on default scalding as there was not button in the turn handle to make it colder. The downpipe from the roof poured water down for the two days I stayed there. i mentioned it to the staff who said that the maintenance man was not working that day ( Sunday) and it had been like it for a while. It also smelt a little of cigarette smoke and musty generally. Needs some work and attention.

Arrived late at 11:15pm after pre arranging time of arrival. One person was trying to manage pouring pints of beer for a large party and taking their payment whilst admitting ourselves and one other guest in front of us. The one employee was working very hard to give a good service and I would give them a rating of 10. However they should not have been in that position and from a customer viewpoint it took 30 minutes to get checked in, hence my rating of 5.

We requested a ground floor room with sofa bed in order that we had somewhere to sit as we both have mobility issues. On check in we were asked ground floor or with sofa bed couldn’t do both despite having booked months ago. The base of the bed was frayed the bathroom has bits of fixture missing around toilet flush which was rusty the top of the plunge for the plug in sink was missing which was dangerous. Carpet was dirty. Without the sofa room looked like it had been burgled. We have stayed at this hotel for over ten years and never seen it so bad.
