I checked in and was told that I had a room near the elevator. My room was actually the farthest room from the elevator. The room is setup with a ladder to get down to the bedroom floor while the bathroom and closet are upstairs and there is no railing on onside. the AC did not work in my room and there was some sort of boiler heat -- I put in a message and they monitored the room and determined that the AC did not work and they brought in a floor unit that took up the entire walking space, was very loud and only cooled a 4 foot area of the room. The TV remote did not work and I could not turn the tv off. The lights were configured with you having to be upstairs to turn them off and then go downstairs int he dark. I asked for a room change and was denied. At 7 am when I told them that I would be cancelling the remainder of my stay, they informed me that they had rooms that I could move into (there were none the previous night). I explained that I could not trust them because of the mishandling of my reservation was unacceptable and I would expect them to cancel my reservation without problem.. They begged me to stay and take a different room and I declined because I could not take another night with the poor service and essentially too little, too late.

Wonderful hotel. Upgraded to comfortable junior suite with canal view. Room was quiet. Staff are very attentive. Great location.

Staff was a pleasure to deal with, everything was taken care of quickly and efficiently. Location was great as it was very central. We would stay here again when in Amsterdam.

the only feedback i have is that i was very disappointed in the fitness center. it was not of the standard i would have expected, based upon quality and price of hotel.

This was my 2nd visit to the hotel which I chose as an Accor member. I took my family of 8 people for whom I booked 2 canal view rooms and 2 junior suites: these were all upgraded to very beautiful suites and 'canal houses'. Moreover, the (very central) location is excellent as are the restaurants whilst the breakfast was particularly impressive. There were just a few issues with the service which prevents me from awarding 10 stars.
