Nasty, aggressive woman on telephone.

Didn't even get there! Owing to roadworks and accidents all the way from southern Austria, I had a 5-hour delay. I therefore called up to ask if arriving at 1.30 am was going to be a problem. Firstly, I waited forever on the phone - went through some nonsensical menu four times as it switches over when you have been waiting for someone to pick up for a while. When someone finally picked up, she was incredibly aggressive - she wouldn't let me finish a sentence, so basically all I got to say was "I have a reservation for tonight". She was yelling down the phone "what about the reservation? what about the reservation?". I finally said, "Would you please let me talk?" and she yelled the same thing down the phone again. I said, "Forget it" and put down the phone. I still didn't know if turning up that late was going to be a problem and even if it wasn't, turning up for ding ding round 2 with that woman at 1.30 am was not exactly an attractive prospect. I wrote the review and put it on the official site, but see it has been removed (although reviews before and after mine are still up). I wrote to complain that all I got for my €80 was a load of aggravation and no room. Nobody has replied even though Accor has apparently written to them too. On Google there are some reviews mentioning nasty, aggressive receptionists, but obviously nobody really cares anyway, because over years nothing has changed.

The hotel was cheap and provided a comfortable enough bed to sleep in and reliable enough shower to wash in. There is room for improvement with regards to cleanliness as we ended our week-long stay with sticky floors and clumps of hair in the corners of the room from previous guests. The room service also didn't reliably give us fresh towels. Location was good though and staff friendly.

I had a delay of 5 hours - because of accidents on the motorways and roadworks throughout Austria and Germany. I called the hotel to ask if that was going to be a problem with checking in, because I wouldn't be there until nearly 1am. I had to wait for ages for the phone to even be picked up. At this hotel, this is a recording asking what you want to talk about and in which language. If they don't pick up for a while, you go back to this menu. I went through that four times. The woman who picked up said she was having trouble hearing me (I assume that there were sound-proof walls on the motorway, so I understood completely that it was difficult. I found a way of making it better.) She said she could hear me, so I said her that I had a reservation that evening and "I wanted to ask ... " but she was so incredibly aggressive "I heard that already - what about the reservation?" but she would never let me finish the sentence. Kept screaming angrily "what about it? " but I could never finish because of her yelling. In the end I said to her "Would you please let me talk?" and she screamed again "what about it, what about it?". So I said, "forget it" and put down the phone. I have never encountered anyone like that on the phone before. I decided to go elsewhere. I had no way of knowing if turning up this late was going to be a problem and I was still a way away. I also did not want to have a second round of that when I turned up after driving 900kms. Had no energy for that. I saw on the reviews of the hotel after that many people have mentioned aggressive, nasty receptionists. They were so right. So basically, my experience of Köln Porz Ibis Budget was a load of aggravation and a bill of €80 for a room I didn't use.
