We received a 'free upgrade' to a lakeside room which was lovely especially as it was our wedding anniversary and a mystery weekend away so this was not planned by ourselves. The Mercure was adequate and our room was clean. We did not use the spa facilities as they were always in use by a lot of people so highly recommend Onsen Spa facilities. We hired a car however did find that by the time we returned back for the evening that there were not enough car parks so that's something to keep in mind. All in all the staff were pleasant and breakfast was a basic continental incl in our accommodation. We ate out in Queenstown and Gibbston Valley for the rest of the time.

It wasn't upto our expectaitions the resort is run down and the spa was disgusting!!! Wouldnt recommend

Well overall it was wonderful. Lakeside view n food was nice. Except for the condition of the room wasn’t the Accor standard. As being a ex Sofitel Fiji Resort staff I know the standards of Accor is very high and above expectations.

It didn’t start well as i had arranged parking for my car trailer that wasn’t there. Staff did a great job to sort the issue. I then had the maintenance manager tell me he had called the police and needed it moved. Once i moved it, the staff bent over backwards for us. The rest of the stay was perfect

Poor service and loud rooms

The hotel is located up the hills, away from the city centre which is great. Hotel is family friendly. However, there are not enough car parks available for guests to park so please do take that into consideration when booking this hotel. Price is reasonable for what you get. We booked two rooms and unfortunately, the rooms have walls so thin that we could hear people talking next door, running in the corridor upstairs and outside our rooms. Woke up so many times throughout the night from baby crying from next door or people talking at 2am in the morning from upstairs. The room is outdated, water was leaking from the ceiling / vanity in the bathroom and our stuff got wet. We contacted the hotel reception and was advised staff would come and fix it. Unfortunately, that did not happen and when we complained again when we checked out, no apologies from the staff or what so ever. We were very disappointed with the service. We won't be staying here again.

We decided to upgrade which ensured a view of the lake. I think we got the best room which was spacious and well appointed. We had a very friendly welcome from Josh. With welcome drink vouchers we headed to the bar where we were well looked after by a female member of staff ( name escapes me ) she was brilliant. We also had dinner accompanied by a gorgeous views. Also a very nice buffet breakfast with beautiful views. All in all a wonderful stay but too short. We will definitely be back !

Facilities at the hotel are good. Although GYM is a bit small. Did not try the Sauna, Spa and Pools. Breakfast was good. The upsetting points were: When we checked in the room was not freshened up and had a stale smell like being not opened for many days. The carpet in the room was worn out.

Waited for almost an hour and half for our food and drinks, especially the drinks. The draft beer wasn’t served even after 2 reminders). Tables that arrived after us were being served with their drinks already while we are still waiting for ours. However the lady in charge of the restaurant was good and courteous.

Made us feel important guests.

Welcoming check in and even a reserved car park space. Large room with great views over the lake. Appreciated welcome gift. Enjoyable meals in the restaurant. All in all a wonderful stay at a great hotel with friendly staff. Attention the marketing department: When I am on holiday the last thing I want to be doing is filling out “How did we do?” forms. Even more annoying is to receive reminders every few days. So please send one request once and leave it at that. If I feel that I want to provide feedback I do it after the trip is over.

We had a couple of nights at the Mercure over an extended weekend and were once again impressed with the service we encountered during our stay. I can't say enough about the pleasantness and freindliness of the staff let alone their professionalism. A hotel is just that without it's people and the people make this place great. Great pool and spa area alone with a good kitchen.
